## What is Virtual Bar?

The Virtual Bar uses the latest science to help you not only get a better understanding of how different factors affect your blood-alcohol concentration – or BAC – on an individual level, but also can help you see how your night could go depending on the food you eat, the water you drink throughout the night, and other important variables. It also helps give you a sense of how long it would take for your BAC to return to 0.00, which we think will surprise you. What’s more? The Virtual Bar will tell you how you might actually be feeling at different BAC levels to help you relate to and better understand the differences between BAC levels. That’s right, we know exactly how you’re feeling. We so get you. Try out the Virtual Bar, and help us help you help yourself.

### 3/5 — Limited food categories

*2025-12-24, version 2.1.2*

The concept is nice, and it’s a really pleasant user interface and experience, but my biggest gripe is with the limited food categories available. I’m obviously not expecting some gourmet options there to add to the calculations, but the food options in the app aren’t quite right for me because I rarely consume them. Adding more categories like a steak or a salad or whatever else—and keeping them general, or providing general categories with more food options in them—would definitely improve my own, and presumably others‘, experience using the app.

### 1/5 — No metric units

*2025-10-26, version 2.1.1*

Nice and important app, but unfortunately uses only weird imperial units. Can not be switched to metric units and this makes it unusable.

### 1/5 — Broken App

*2023-01-05, version 2.0.3*

I just downloaded this Virtual App from Apple onto iPhone 12, v16.2, and this app doesn't work at all. This App needs the developer's help right away.
I visited the developer's site and was able to use its program there, on the same iPhone, and wish I could add food, not just at the beginning, but between drinks. Also, I would like to see 45 minutes for drinking. Typically, after the first drink in 15 or 30 minutes I will "nurse" the remaining drinks the rest of the evening.

### 2/5 — Cool Concept, Very Limited Options

*2020-12-21, version 1.3.10*

Not worth the download. In a nutshell, I would compare this app to the app where it filled your screen with beer and when you tilted your phone, it looked like you were drinking a beer. This is very much in the conceptual phase with options being very limited. Once you’ve selected a standard drink option, your time consumption options are 1, 15, or 30 minutes. Not sure if this is based off average times or if your body processes alcohol the same after 1 minute up to 15 minutes. Which I don’t understand the limited options because what if I sip one time when I first get the drink and then chug it at the 14 minute mark? Anyway, more to be done there. And the food options, four options with a fifth being no food. A lot of work to be done there. Not sure if these are nutritionally comparable to most foods consumed while drinking, but I’m also not a nutritional expert, so I don’t know. In theory, cool idea. Please take it down and do more work and bring it back when you’ve provided more applicable options.

### 1/5 — Not working

*2019-12-14, version 1.3.10*

App just says loading and never loads

### 2/5 — No complications

*2018-11-23, version 1.3.6*

I don’t really understand how an app like this that calculates a changing value can exist without watch face complications. Such an obvious use case.

### 1/5 — Food options

*2018-07-03, version 1.3.6*

People eat things other than burritos, hamburgers and pizza. Should have option on when you’re eating as well. Really not a good gauge.

### 3/5 — Great idea, just lacking.

*2018-07-03, version 1.3.6*

It would be game changer to be able to put in alcohol content. There’s a HUGE difference in beer %. I can drink a good beer at 4.8% or 9% alcohol. That makes a huge difference in how quickly I feel effects. Also the food choices are a joke and I really don’t even know what choosing a food does to my results, there needs to be some type of ability to compare.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2018-06-27, version 1.3.6*

I don’t know what the heck is wrong with the rest- this app is great

### 2/5 — Needs a lot of work

*2018-04-20, version 1.3.6*

Timing: I wish I could input a time. The only choice is 1 minute, 15 and 30. Dumb.
Also, I like how it gives you an estimate time to back to 0BAC. It would help if it counted down for you.
