I just invested a lot of money on a brand new NYC Condo that was outfitted with a “Virtual Doorman.” The concept is not new to New York, but was attractive to me as a buyer as it cut down the (what could be) very pricey common charges & all the space needed for a full-time doorman crew, however I was skeptical reliant on technology and people via phone to let my visitors and cleaners in remotely. There were definitely hiccups on rollout, but mostly due to the building management’s poor communication to me and to Virtual Doorman. Their app had a bug when I tried to use it, and there was a feature the building management said would be enabled but didn’t take their steps to be sure it was. Well, after a couple calls with the Virtual Doorman team, they figured out the solution, got me a refreshed app that worked perfect and in working with the building they figured out the problem and fixed it for them, and I must say the support and speed to response from everyone on the team from; the tech team, virtual doormen (and women) themselves, to management, all came through very clutch for me and my family’s new condo. We can now take advantage of all the features and let people directly into our unit and up our elevator at the swipe of the phone on their app, allow delivery companies to leave packages remotely in our package room, and the app is very easy to use and extremely reliable (the cameras and unlocking features are literally real-time, no lag at all which is better than my Nest cameras at home).
