It has so much potential. I’ve only been playing for a little while now but I’ve noticed a couple of things that could be improved for better gameplay. Object placement would be a big one. It’s annoying when I want to put a furniture item down and it completely misses the mark every time. Character customisation could also be great. Would also be nice if characters had some more autonomy and varied interactions or interests. All in all, some updates would be really beneficial for future progression. ### 3/5 — The “pause game” option does not actually work. *2026-08-23, version 2.4.9* I’ve played the original virtual families as a child, and now that I’ve gotten a little older and decided to revisit the nostalgic game, I seen there was a VF3 and decided to give this a try. It’s a cute, fun time waster. The only issue I have is regarding the “pause” button as it doesn’t actually work. I don’t think any adult with a functioning job or life has the time to be on a mobile game all day and night. I paused the game, but evidently the function doesn’t work because when I checked back in on my game 10 years had passed and my entire family was on the brink of death. This has happened multiple times, and every time it says my game is paused I come back to a significant amount of time having passed. It’s a fun game, and cute but I had to stop playing it solely because of that factor… I don’t have time to sit on it all day everyday, and I would like if the pause button actually worked instead of expecting to resume it where I’ve left off only to find my little family all deceased. ### 3/5 — 10 years *2026-08-22, version 2.4.9* I always loved it, which is why I’m especially frustrated that I’m writing this review now. My couple had twins, and I got the congratulations message saying “Oh Baby Baby.” It showed that I had received the prize, but after I clicked “OK,” the game went to the loading screen. When it finished loading, the kids were just not there. The twins completely disappeared, and I didn’t actually receive the prize either. I really hope this is just a glitch that can be fixed because it’s disappointing to experience something like this, especially after playing and loving this game for so many years. ### 2/5 — Game inflation is dumb *2026-08-13, version 2.4.9* Listen I absolutely love this game and have been playing it and it’s other versions since I was a kid. But it’s always been a greedy game. I understand the developers need to make money somehow, but the money value in this game is so awful. Everything in the game goes up in price as you progress, but you’re never making more. Sure the resort is a decent money maker but an hour to get a thousand coins is so lame knowing it costs upwards of 11000 coins to get upgrade the resort. I would be more likely to buy the money packs if they weren’t so expensive for something I’m gonna run out of after upgrading one room. It takes forEVERRR to save up coins to upgrade almost everything. ### 2/5 — I love the franchise but this is insanely slow going *2026-08-12, version 2.4.9* It takes irl WEEKS to just get to 3k gold and even thats barely enough to afford anything in game. A single pitcher of water for the resort is around 1100 and dont even get me started on getting my people to master careers. It goes past 8 now? I love this game but i need the money making to be faster its been a month and i cant make it past 5k this is crazy ### 4/5 — Game freezing while loading *2026-08-12, version 2.4.9* I love this game a lot, I enjoy playing it, but every time I try to open the game, it gets stuck on the loading screen. I have to delete the app, and redownload it for it to even start up again. I really enjoy playing this game, if this is something that could be worked on in the next update that would be amazing. The only few things i wished this game had were more frequent updates, a way we could uniquely customise our characters, better money packages and more fun interesting storylines like the little girl and her doll and also the story at the resort. Other than that this game is so comforting and fun to play if i had the time i’d literally play for hours. ### 4/5 — Love the childhood game *2026-08-04, version 2.4.8* I grew up playing this game love it soo. The only thing I would change is things about the family’s resort. I like that the family can travel now but it’s hard to earn money to buy furniture and resort room upgrades. I feel that the guess that comes to the resort should pay for their stay so we can unlock and buy furniture easier. It’s exactly like the old game, but better! I love all the silly names your virtual people get- they definitely provide a laugh. I appreciate that there aren’t any forced ads, but you can opt to watch some for coins. I really like the new incorporation of the resort, however I do wish there were more customisation options available for the resort as there is with the house. It does also take a very loooooong time to save up money for upgrades and decorations, which can make it a slog. ### 2/5 — Bugs *2026-07-10, version 2.4.7* So I’ve been playing this game since I could remember growing as an adult I’ve noticed that things are way too hard on the game such as earning coins , in the ads.. bugs glitch the game out where you won’t get rewarded anything. AI credits? A robot that scrapes the internet for art to plagiarize? Someone who can't even be bothered to get the image to look right, despite them putting in no real effort? Yikes! Pay actual artists! Pay some people who actually care about whether or both the product they're putting forth is good! ### 1/5 — No Reset Option *2026-07-22, version 2.4.7* The game is fine, it works, but I didn’t play it for a while and REALLY want to start over, but there is no way to reset it - I deleted it from my device, from my iCloud, I disconnected my Game Center, and none of it deleted it. I have no interest in playing this old save, and was happy to re-spend my money on stuff, but I’m not going to contact customer support just to restart my progress when it could be way way easier than that. Update after response: I tried their suggestion to press the reset button in the menu four times. Literally all it did was reset the settings. Like the siblings should be able to connect on a family trip or something. It could be a better and with adjustments but it’s ok ### 1/5 — Lack of tutorial and instruction, and awful mechanics! *2026-06-23, version 2.4.7* I’m baffled at how much this game does not teach you how to do ANYTHING important. Like how to do your job, how to literally play the game lol and they’re slow and I mean slow. They don’t listen everytime you ask them to do something, and don’t even get me started on trying to make them do a job. If they’re a food photographer but they’re hungry, they’ll just eat the food and not take photos. They’ll only take photos if they’re wanting to? Like huh? And the zooming in and out is atrocious. For its age I would’ve expected a lot more improvement. EDIT: I kept giving it a go, and on day 2, toilet is clogged, have $0 to fix it, can’t work because she’s freaking out about the toilet, can’t repair it without money, it’s ridiculous. And when working your career at home you only get $4 per work task? Talk about stingy… objects can’t be placed against walls either, you can’t see when newborns are going to age up, you can’t carry the characters if they’re holding collectibles because you’ll lose them, there’s so much I could mention. Definitely needs to be improved. You can see by their replies to every review that they likely don’t take anything on board because they can’t even write a person reply, it looks like they’re just copying and pasting, or it’s an automated response. ### 1/5 — Why use ai？ *2026-06-23, version 2.4.7* As far as I know the game itself has no ai but the app cover does which is pretty disappointing as the usual artwork is why i liked ldw games as it’s nostalgic yet fits the aesthetic of the game. This not even the only game with ai covers. The newer ones have it and im just like why fall for the propaganda especially since you guys have the money to hire artists and the assets itself aren’t ai idk it makes me not want to play newer games and just the virtual families one & two. Also the newer games are a harder to get coins and more p2w which is high key cray. ### 1/5 — Pricing *2026-06-12, version 2.4.7* I do not want to give a one star review. I feel like it is necessary. This needs to be taken into account. I played virtual family for years. I’ve played 1,2 and now three I’ve also played the island and villagers as well, and I have never in my life been so appalled against the pricing of in game currency and real life currency. The lowest package you can buy for coins is $1.99 and that only gives you 600 that you could easily watch six ads and get. on top of that trying to purchase an amenity for your resort or a room for your home Is just absolutely outrageous. It takes me a whole month or more just to get that in game currency. $37,000 coins for an add-on to the resort is absolutely ridiculous. When I played the past virtual family game, I’ve never had to save up this much. I went through at least 20 or more families and I’m not even halfway done with the house. Making a little cheaper so it doesn’t take months to achieve. ### 1/5 — Utterly Disappointing *2026-06-06, version 2.4.7* I used to love VF2 years ago, but VF3 is an absolute, buggy disaster. I finally got fed up and deleted the app today. 1. Lag & Glitches: Every single time I open the app, it lags and forces a redirect back to the home page. The absolute worst part? Watching ads to get coins is completely pointless. You waste your time watching the ad, only for the app to glitch out, redirect to the home screen, and wipe out the coins you just earned. 2. Non-Stop Illnesses: The characters are constantly sick. I had to cure one girl 5 times in a row back-to-back for a sneeze, headache, cough, and upset stomach. It never stops, and it completely drains your bank account. 3. Earning & Progression: Earning money is a joke. A single medication costs $30+, but my characters only earn $2 to $4 per work cycle. You end up making less than $200 a day. Meanwhile, furniture costs so much money that it is practically impossible to afford 2 or 3 items at a time unless you wanna spend real money on it. Last. Even when both parents have an "extreme" interest in kids, trying to get them to make a baby is infuriating. I love the new resort definitely needs an update so we can make income with the resort and interact more with visitors as the story about the place is unfinished. The home itself is definitely an upgrade!
