That tells me that Celeris cares more about Virtual Pool 4 on the iPhone than the iPad. You have three play modes. Quick Play, Pro Tour Career and Hustle Career. I like the Quit Play the best because you can turn on or off the aim line or tracking line or the ghost ball, I prefer not to have any of those on because it's more fun and more challenging, not so much with the other two. There's an option for the aim line so you can turn it on or off but the off feature doesn't work, so it stays on all the time I'm OK with that. The tracking line you can turn it on and off and that works fine but with the ghost ball there is two option to turn it off but that doesn't work so it's always on very annoying. As for the ball physics is not perfect particularly the Cue Ball it seems to travel further causing the Cue Ball to scratch more often than it should. As for the camera angles, you can set the camera angle for instance after the computer player shoots the a ball for a side view or end view at about a 25 to 30° angle that show the whole pool table but you can't do that for the human player so you have to zoom out with your fingers or use the top down view camera angle which I don't like. ### 4/5 — Fun but snooker tricky on ipad *2022-04-01, version 4.13* The iPad version seems not to allow aiming aids except in practise mode. That's ok for pool but makes snooker really difficult, to the point of being unplayable. But pool is great ### 2/5 — Annoying Bug in the game *2021-06-06, version 4.13* There’s a bug in the game that freezes gameplay after you are so far in to the tournament, this is very annoying and you have to start all over again from the beginning ### 3/5 — Nice graphics, but... *2019-05-17, version 4.13* I have never scratched the cue as much as I have in this game. Holy crap. I have nearly thrown my iPad across the room in frustration a few times. The cuestick acceleration is very exaggerated as well, but you will never break as hard as the computer, which routinely throws the cueball off the table and across the room. It’s a good game, it’d just be nice to adjust these things. ### 4/5 — It’s pool *2019-05-04, version 4.13* Love pool games since the Amiga/Atari ST and thought that virtual pool back on the N64 was the best pool game ever and still do. Got a few pool & snooker games on iPad and this it probably the best there is. It’s got enough variety of pool rules. Only thing stopping me giving it 5 stars is the lack of being able to play my own music while playing the game. It just won’t allow it unless I am missing something. It would be a cool feature to have a jukebox in whatever place you are playing in and to select your own tunes or playlists. Also a trick shot mode would be good in a future update where you get little challenges. As it stands it’s still the best simulation of pool on iOS. Just allow me to play my own music while playing it. That would make it perfect for me. With that I would give it 5 ⭐️ ### 4/5 — Almost perfect, some iOS tweaks would work *2019-02-02, version 4.13* Good port of THE pool/billiards/snooker game for PC for a fraction of the price of the PC version; looks great on iPad. A full list of AI opponents to play against and different ways to play in tournaments and leagues. Instead of hitting a button to switch from cue stick pulling to cue stick English placement, maybe borrow from other pool apps and let us do this with two-finger or three-finger swipes. ### 4/5 — The original pool game, best game physics *2018-12-31, version 4.13* Ok the game can do with updated graphics, but the game physics are spot on. Enjoyable to play this on ipad as was on pc ### 2/5 — Some bad logic *2018-10-20, version 4.13* How can the same player miss too often, and then consistently make shots that no one can make. Too often put in a bad shot position while my opponent is not one game, and not in another. Stop trying to manage the outcome. The shots should be based on skill / probability of success, and not manipulated success. ### 3/5 — Not as good as the original *2018-05-28, version 4.13* While I’m still a fan of the game, the physics are fundamentally broken. The cue ball has more travel than on any pool table in the world and behaves more like an air hockey puck than a cue ball. If they could fix that with the cue ball’s tendency to keep chasing a ball into a pocket I’d bump my rating up to four stars. ### 3/5 — Could b better *2018-02-09, version 4.13* How about the option to turn off tracking lines, Geniuses! I have other versions of this game and can turn off tracking lines, otherwise it makes it too easy.. ### 2/5 — Latest release is terrible *2017-12-13, version 4.13* Don’t know what happened, but when the cue ball is close to the rail it is now impossible to shoot. ### 4/5 — Awesome Game, No sound though *2017-08-02, version 4.13* This is great to be able to play Virtual Pool again, the masse shots are tricky with iPad and there is a lot that is more complicated playing on iPad than on computer, but it's great fun. There is no sound on the videos or on the game in general, even when the sound is turned on in the game and the iPad has it's sound on. I wish that were fixed, but I love the game anyway. ### 2/5 — Like the new modes but buggy *2017-02-25, version 4.13* I like the new shark mode. But seems buggy. The targeting lines and ghost balls are all off. Just feels rushed. Doesn't play as smooth as Virtual Pool HD. My first review they deleted. No support on main website for it either. 2/25/2017 still not working right. Cue ball lines to object ball do not line up. Ghost balls are useless. I am playing this on a current iPad Air 2. Just unplayable and not fun. Wish they would fix it. Trying to get my money back. ### 5/5 — Still the best *2016-11-04, version 4.13* I'm not sure why this is so badly rated, I've always been a fan of the series but this is this first time I've had it for a tablet and it runs really well on my iPad Pro. It's very realistic I learned a lot from this game when I was younger playing 9 ball pool, the spin is brilliantly realistic, and the graphics have finally been updated and look gorgeous. The only issue I have at the moment and it might just be me, is I can't turn off /on tracking in career modes, changes made in settings are ignored? But apart from that this is the best pool game out there, and a bargain at 2.99 GBP. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Great App.... but... *2019-08-29, version 4.13* Until recently it was really great. Now, if the cue ball is even close to the rail you can’t make a shot unless you lower the butt of the cue stick down to the point you can’t even see the table top. Used to love the game now it’s not enjoyable at all. I gave it a one because I had to to write a review. Fix the problem and it will be a 5 again. ### 1/5 — No sound, missing a ton of VP4 content *2018-08-29, version 4.13* I get no sound an either of my iPads for this game. Also, this is missing a lot of Virtual Pool 4 is supposed to have. No saving match replays, none of the training videos, no turning off or on track lines mid-practice, no take shot at selected force option, no free mode/trick shot setup, etc. I could go on, but I think the point is clear. This is NOT the Virtual Pool 4 most of us have played on PC. The fact that this is a tablet version is no excuse, considering how old this game is and how weak PCs we’re back then compared to iPads today. This should be called “Virtual Pool 4 Lite”, NOT “Virtual Pool 4”. ### 1/5 — Waste of money *2018-06-09, version 4.13* They have ruined this game. They should be ashamed to sell this one. I had the last version of virtual pool and loved it. This one is a discrace. So much for progress. ### 1/5 — Some bugs. *2017-02-24, version 4.13* The game freeze thinking with the ball spinning at the bottom of the screen. And with no save possibility in the Quick game section you loose everything. Also the Ai seams to prefer put you safe rather then just play his ball, I had 5 ball on the table and he had one, every time I miss my shot he would put me safe and he keep doing it until I put my white in a hole. That's no way to play pool. It does that all the time. ### 1/5 — Need to add One Pocket *2016-12-28, version 4.13* The only reason I bought this is because a friend said it had one pocket. Why have one pocket on the computer version but not the version on the App Store? It has it all and is worth way more than $3.99. This is truly a simulation of real pool. It can improve your game and you will learn how read a table for your best chance to run out. Beginners and novices will learn how to aim the fundamentals of pool that can be translated to a real table. Nothing comes close to this. You have to actually know how to really shoot or he willing to learn. And that’s a very good thing. Unlimited pool for a few bucks. You can’t go wrong. Other games on the market are all flash and little skill involved. Some thing I didn’t expect to see in the game this old.However I am disappointed that you remove the button that lets you skip ahead rather than wait for all the balls to bounce around. Ordinarily I don’t use it that much but when I’m playing CurlyOr someone else and the round is clearly leading to me being wiped out. I prefer not to sit through every single shot waiting for balls to settle into place. Waiting for balls to stop spinning..Sometimes I just rather get to the end of the game to see if I stand a chance at some point. Changed rating back to 5 star! I have been a VP player for years, right from the old DOS days and have always considered VP to be the best game available bar none. When VP4 first came out for iPad it was no exception, superb game great physics lovely graphics and generally awesome. However since the iPad Pro has been released VP4 has serious issues that Celeris does not seem to be able to (or does not want to) resolve, the frame rate when aiming or moving the camera is very poor compared to the iPad Air 2, very choppy and really takes something away from an otherwise great game. I have told Celeris about the issue and even sent a comparison video but still the problem persists.
