Very agitating! ### 4/5 — Assurance in device usage *2025-02-11* I know my device is safe for usage & my information is safe whenever I have to stay in constant communication &/or whenever I have to travel to care for family members. ### 2/5 — Terrible *2024-11-16* Works then all of a sudden your phone isn’t working unless you turn this off. Then it needs an upgrade but you have to not be able to use your phone before you figure it out. What a mess this VPN is. ### 3/5 — Useful. Sometimes. Keeps me safe from browsing in that way. Not useful. ### 1/5 — Terrible *2023-12-05* Your app was fantastic when it first came out and then you upgraded it and all it has done is ruined peoples devices and now you only have 33 users in the App Store versus when you had hundreds on the older app by giving somebody a free or extending their warranty is not fixing the problem. It’s just putting a Band-Aid on it and you’re putting it on the consumers backs responsibility to fix the problem when your technical department should be fixing it like it used too. ### 1/5 — Doesn't work well with ios/os *2023-11-13* Apple blocks the use of this VPN any chance it gets! Vistualshield needs to come up with and stay up to date with updates to bypass Apple's blocks. Good old Apple's control methods in effect. Many Apps & operating systems are now structured to not work unless you DISABLE your VPN. Pretty much defeats the purpose of having spent the money to use one. Waste of money. ### 1/5 — Terrible customer service *2023-11-13* They provide no renewal reminder and make cancellation difficult. Customer service is terrible; they may as well have just an automated FAQ. Every device I had the service on didn’t function right, so I removed it and forgot about until they hit my account with $179 charge after 2 years. ### 2/5 — Don’t Choose This One *2023-10-12* I have had Virtual Shield VPN for about 3 months. If you buy this, have a backup to go to when this one doesn’t perform - because it is going to happen and maybe often. If I had to do it over, I would not buy into this VPN. Yes, they will reply and be nice about it but bottom line, their product barely works and they basically put the responsibility on you as the user rather than working on their product. Just look elsewhere. ### 1/5 — Display *2023-09-14* Why is it when I open the app to shows that it is connecting, then it says “ Not Connected “ but then shows an IP address. The phone seems to be very sluggish. I tap the button it disconnects. I tap it again and it says it is connecting and again it displays “ Not Connected “ then shows an Ip address. What’s up VS? ### 1/5 — 4G LTE 3/4 bars takes 10 minutes to load if at all *2023-08-25* In 2007 when the T Mobile my touch 4G came out that was fast, not like today where you may have to load then back out load again and do that again and again and still videos will not play. What the duck good is you asp if bottling plays! And don't give me that it it's my tower! From 1998 till 2001 I built cell towers and I know exactly how they work. They are susceptible to manipulation especially with AI. So letters see what the engineers have to say? ### 1/5 — Worthless product *2023-05-04* Content creators sponsoring this product should be ashamed. The only way to get this piece to work is by uninstalling and reinstalling it every time you want to use it. It will not work if you ever have to reboot. This goes for both the app and desktop software. You can configure settings to always stay connected, but then out of nowhere you realize it hasn’t been connected in God knows how long. What a joke! ### 1/5 — Horrible app *2023-03-31, version 2.0.6* This app is horrible! It cuts off, access to many apps, and when you try to contact customer service, they do not respond ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Ripped off *2026-06-01* I requested cancellation in November 2025, and was ignored/rebilled for another 2 years. I was told today in their live chat with most likely a n AI robot that I will not be billed again. I could have used the money they sneakily got from me to buy groceries for my own family, and not theirs. ### 1/5 — Worst app *2026-04-14* I never rate apps but I’ll make an exception here for this particular slop. App locks up regularly and the only way to fix is to fully remove the settings from phone. If you lose signal while using just delete the VPN from settings otherwise your phone becomes a useless brick. Given the subscription fees I’m very disappointed. If I could zero stars I would. ### 1/5 — Terrible Customer Service *2026-04-08* I signed up for this service for one year and cancelled my subscription. The next year I was charged again even though I cancelled it. I have tried repeatedly to cancel the service again only to receive the message that a representative would reach out to me, but I never received such a message and seem unable to cancel. I don’t recommend signing up for a service that wants to scam you out of money for making it so difficult to simply end your subscription. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work correctly *2025-09-26* Sometimes I’ll go to use my phone and for some reason, the Internet won’t work at all. And I’m over here wondering what the problem is. So I eventually delete virtual shield and suddenly my Internet starts working again. For some reason virtual shield only works sometimes and then other times it totally ruins your Internet and will not even Connect so you have to delete the app in order for your Internet to work. I thought I was behind on my bill or something for my cellular data but no, it’s the virtual shield app. Also virtual shield doesn’t work with older computers. They lied and said it was going to work on my computer, but it absolutely does not. ### 1/5 — DO NOT INSTALL *2025-08-28* In order to delete your account, you must submit a “request for deletion”. Mine was done 6 months ago, and I was charged for another year, seeing as though no one ever did anything about it. As far as I’m concerned, this company is deliberately keeping accounts open in order to collect annual fees. ### 1/5 — Charged my ( expired ) debit card somehow ??? *2025-01-03* Had had the service 3 years now, worked fairly well. My 2 year subscription was coming due. I received an -email ( action required your payment method has expired ) your at risk of cancellation, please update. Never updated my card info. My new card was charged somehow!!! Contacted customer service - no response. Contacted my Bank, cancelled my new card! Investigation pending! ### 1/5 — Not easy to unsubscribe *2024-12-19* Idiotic system that requires you to “request” deletion of your account, no easy way to just cancel and be done. It worked as a VPN and customer support responded quickly and friendly, just didn’t do anything besides “make a ticket” when you contact them for cancellation. ### 1/5 — Ripoff *2024-10-01* I’ve had this VPN for 3 years & started having major issues with it (locking out of internet usage on iPads) over the last year after I did a two-year renewal. You can’t call & speak to anyone —horrible customer service. So you have to spend two hours troubleshooting on your own to no avail. For the computer unsavvy like me, it’s a useless effort. When I try to cancel & get a prorated refund on their chat, I’m told they can’t do it. I’m stuck with this until December 2025. RIPOFF! ### 1/5 — From hero to zero *2024-05-16* I have had VS for 4+ years and it started out GREAT the year over year this app keeps getting worse and worse and worse. It will disconnect whenever it wants it will have to be uninstalled repeatedly to get it to work. If you text support they want you to fix it yourself. Read some article that they can not even post a link that will open. What a JOKE! DONT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY WITH THIS TRASH APP. Amanda helped me again, today😊. I often have had tough questions as technology is not my forté and each of them have been patient and very helpful for me, each time! I have had VS VPN for just over 3 years, and the first year or so it was good, but afterwards, quite regularly, I would have to uninstall and reinstall, (although an easy process), but was quite annoying. Summer ‘25 I started a chat, and it has been working marvellously ever since-I should have asked sooner!! Also, Roku tvs don’t have VS as an available app, which is so……..controlling, but VS can direct you with that as well! ### 5/5 — Top Quality and Price *2025-04-18* I’ve been using VirtualShield for a number of years. I’ve been very happy with the service and price for my iPhone/droid/ laptops for both home and work. The support team have been great! Tom has always been very helpful throughout this time and a pro when it comes to any questions. Tom always makes sure I get the best deal on offer for my VPN needs. Huge thanks Tom!!
