### 2/5 — Has problems

*2019-05-12*

I have noticed that some books don’t open properly and I’m finding that a bit annoying and it tries to load and stops after a few seconds which means that you can’t read them after downloading them so I would like that to be fixed.
This is really frustrating.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. Your poor experience has been considered as we work to improve the Library service. The VA Connect app has recently been updated, and it includes some new features. We hope your experience is better using this new app. For support please call the Vision Australia Library on 1300 654 656.

### 2/5 — why is the app so buggy?

*2019-03-20*

i'm Tiffy and I really love this app because I'm able to listen to daisy books using my phone as well as my headphones with your Bluetooth, but there are major bugs and I keep getting fobbed off whenever I make a complaint! The first one and alert comes up to say the server has returned and unknown error, the library claims not to know what this error means, another very annoying and persistent bug, if I open this app it will automatically close straight away without anything happening, so then I have to turn off my phone and turn it back on again for this to stop happening, the only thing I have been told to do is go to another app, but I don't want to do that, I want to use this app because that's what it was meant for, so I would appreciate that these bugs were fixed, we can't just throw money at the problem and keep donating things to vision Australia just so that the bug gets fixed, it needs to be fixed so there are no more problems for the blind also I was accused of not returning a book that I didn't even know was in my bookshelf, the books are hidden sometimes and if I borrow one book that I want, others will pop up that I didn't hear about with voice-over, one of them a book was returned automatically that I didn't even know was there even though I practically use the app every second day and I would've known if this particular book whatever it was was there, but I didn't know and it didn't show up, only recently change my password and no one has gotten into my account, I live on my own so who would want to do that, no one knows about VA Connect anyway, and even if they did they would be blind people and I don't even keep in contact with any other blind users, so who would want to get into my account and borrow books and hide them so that I wouldn't know they were there? I would probably know if someone got into my account if there was an alert which there wasn't because no one got in except me! And if vision Australia library say that they send messages to clients for overdue books, I never got anything and I would've known if I checked which I did, although was was an email telling me that the book was returned automatically which I didn't know about! There is no messages that come to me from vision Australia about books, especially this one that I don't know the name of that they said they returned, but I didn't know existed! Very wrong

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. Your poor experience and concerns have been considered as we work to improve the Library service. The VA Connect app has recently been updated to address your concerns. It also includes some new features and provides access to more content. We hope you enjoy using this new app. For support please call the Vision Australia Library on 1300 654 656.

### 2/5 — Has potential

*2018-12-10*

It has potential but is extremely buggy and slow, it struggles to log in, and when it does the audio books either have trouble downloading or open. It’s quite useless unfortunately. I hope there is a good update to improve this!

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. We are very sorry that your experience has been poor. The VA Connect app has recently been updated to include new features. We hope your experience using this new app is better. For support please call the Vision Australia Library on 1300 654 656.

### 2/5 — Good idea, bad app.

*2016-12-05, version 1.1.1*

I want to like this app. However it has given me nothing about headaches, constant crashing constantly bugging out constant not being able to log in issues. I wish I wish I had the knowledge to suggest how the developers could make this app better. Sadly I do not. So please fix this app vision Australia.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Hard to use when blind

*2023-01-08*

The app is giving on going issues, the app will continually log the user out. Being blind it’s impossible without help from my family, I live alone so I need to call them to come over and help me. This happens weekly.
I need the app fixed so I can be more independent and enjoy my taking books more often…….

**Developer response:** Thank you for reporting this and we are sorry that your experience using VA Connect is poor. We have had a similar report and are investigating the cause to remedy this for you and other users. Please also check the strength of your network connection as low bandwidth can cause books to take an extraordinary time to download and eventually shut itself off. For further assistance, please call the Vision Australia library on 1300 654 656, or email library@visionaustralia.org

### 1/5 — Regular library app is far superior

*2021-07-21*

I'm turning away from this app for audiobooks, my regular library app (Libby) is far better, more efficient, user friendly and has better quality recordings.
Recently the VA app keeps adding books to my shelf that i haven't requested and i have to waste time removing them. What's that about?
Vision impaired people deserve better than this.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that your experience using VA Connect was poor. Please note that an improved version of the app is available for you to install. Books are automatically added to your bookshelf because of a user preference setting on your Library account. To allow us to help you with your preferences, please call the Vision Australia library on 1300 654 656, or email library@visionaustralia.org

### 1/5 — Appalling, the worst app I have on my devices. Time to get your act together Vision Australia

*2020-09-25, version 1.2.8*

Constant connectivity issues, lack of any new features, extremely buggy all the time. Your clients deserve a much better experience with this app than what they have been getting for the last couple of years.

### 1/5 — Terrible!

*2020-05-22, version 1.2.8*

So frustrating! Very difficult to use

### 1/5 — vision Australia connect doesn't let me sign in any more

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. Your poor experience has been considered as we work to improve the Library service. ### 1/5 — Such a bad app

*2019-11-12*

My 90 year old vision impaired Nan loves to read and now she can no longer see, she relies on the Daisy player - that review is a whole other story but seriously did you test these things out on vision impaired people first??? The app constantly bugs out and need to be closed down to reload, it constantly beeps to let you know something is happening but nothing actually is happening. Really poor from an organisation that needs to provide better.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. We are very sorry that the experience of your Nan using the app has been poor. The VA Connect app has recently been updated to address these types of issues and includes new features. We hope your Nan's experience using this new app is better. For support please call the Vision Australia Library on 1300 654 656.

### 2/5 — Still keeps logging out

*2024-09-01*

After years of complaints, this essential and generally good app still keeps logging me out almost daily and now due to my worsened vision and control, I have to ask my partner to help me. Please fix??

### 2/5 — Keeps forgetting login

*2022-01-11*

Have been entering my partner’s user name and password constantly, it keeps forgetting them and then just keeps showing password error. So I have to reboot phone for her. So I’m the end, an app meant for vision impaired people can’t actually be used without someone else’s assistance. Otherwise, it’s a useful app, when it can actually be used

**Developer response:** Thank you for persisting with the app despite the frustration you have experienced. We are still trying to replicate the problem to understand what may be causing it. To allow us to understand the problem better and to try to help you, could you please call the Vision Australia library on 1300 654 656, or email library@visionaustralia.org

### 2/5 — Still buggy

*2020-11-27*

I love the new format but books still drop out. I’m trying deleting then reinstalling. Then I’ll spend an hour trying to find where I was up to in the book. But when it does work it’s sealed!

### 2/5 — Latest update

*2020-10-22*

This app has been very helpful over the years if not a little buggy. However the new update despite the newer look is incredibly difficult to navigate and slow. Personally I would prefer the old format back or at least have the page where you listen to the book to look the way it did before.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. We are very sorry that your initial experience has been disappointing. Your suggestions will be considered as we work to improve the service. To allow us to learn more and to help you, please call the Vision Australia library on 1300 654 656, or email library@visionaustralia.org

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great App

*2025-01-22*

Can you please add a music section so I can listen to Wu-Tang? And NWA. I’m a big fan of swear words and explicit content and 90s hip-hop so can you please allow more explicit content on the platform? Also, can you please remove the 20 book limit for the bookshelf? I don’t see why it’s there otherwise I think it’s a great app thank you. Have a nice day.

### 5/5 — Good!!

*2020-06-03*

This app changed my life and I can now listen to audiobooks of my own choice. Thank you so much, the service is very good, and the audiobooks are clear. Thank you so sosososoososo much

**Developer response:** Thank you for your positive feedback. The VA Connect app has recently been updated, and it includes some new features, as well as access to more content. We hope you enjoy using this new app.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2015-11-24, version 1.0*

Great app, so simple to use. A must for anyone in the blindness community.

### 4/5 — One problem

*2020-12-30*

Since the new update there is no way for the daisy format audiobook to see not say the page number this in itself is not a major problem but the fact there is no switch to turn this off so while you’re immersed in a book you’ll hear 75 or whatever page number you up to in the middle of your story all I ask is that you add an a on off switch for this feature I have called them and yet they still have not done anything yet

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. We have taken your feedback on board and an improved version of the app is available that has a user configurable setting that allows you to turn off the reading of page numbers that interrupt the flow of the narration.

### 4/5 — VA Connect app for IOS>

*2017-07-24*

I am disappointed, that this app, according to all of the descriptive information which is available, apparently does not, seem to be able to read any of the electronic braille titles which are available online for Vision Australia clients. I hope that the next version will address this issue.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback and rating. Your experience has been considered as we work to improve the Library service. The VA Connect app has recently been updated to make it better. It includes many new features but it is an audio player and not able to ‘read’ or display braille files. We are sorry for your disappointment but hope you have a better experience using this new app. For support please call the Vision Australia Library on 1300 654 656.

### 4/5 — Ideal DAISY reader

*2015-11-14*

An ideal reader for DAISY titles from your i-access library. Can add named bookmarks, sleep timer, chapter and page navigation where available in book, large controls ideal for low vision users, voiceover compatible (though you lose a word or two of book as voiceover is still reading screen or command)

**Developer response:** Thank you for your positive feedback. The VA Connect app has recently been updated, and it includes some new features. We hope you enjoy using this new app.

### 3/5 — Keep getting logged out

*2026-03-03*

It is so frustrating. I keep getting logged out of the app almost daily at the moment. Sometimes it keeps my place and setting and sometimes I have to reload everything and find where I am in the book. The book is always downloaded previously when this happens.

### 3/5 — Frustrating

*2023-03-05*

This should be a good app. It’s well designed and easy to use and has all the features I’ve come to expect in an audiobook app.

But it keeps logging me out. I’ve been logged out 4 times in the last two days. And each time I get logged out I have to download all my books again and find where I’m up to. And redo my settings. This has to be fixed for the app to be useable.

**Developer response:** Thank you for reporting this and we are sorry that your experience using VA Connect is poor. We have had a similar report and are investigating the cause to remedy this for you and other users. In the meantime, please also check the strength of your network connection as low bandwidth can cause books to take an extraordinary time to download and eventually the app will shut itself off. For further assistance, please call the Vision Australia library on 1300 654 656, or email library@visionaustralia.org

### 3/5 — Last up date

*2020-12-27*

I would like to know how to get rid of magazines and newspapers I know longer want to see I finally got in but I do not like this update I have to remove something to 3 times before it goes and I do not call VA new layout user friendly With this last up date I have been logged out of my account and cannot get back in

**Developer response:** Thank you for your efforts to use the app and reporting the issue. It appears that there is an issue related to your username and password. To allow us to understand the problem and help you, please call the Vision Australia library on 1300 654 656, or email library@visionaustralia.org

### 3/5 — Time shifting and books you cannot download.

*2017-07-19*

It is a significant on the previous version and more stable overall. Now plays DAISY Text. The only issue I have come across is that time jump does not work at all and sentence jump seems to jump much more than a sentence.
When in a podcast, Time Jump displays a time interval and jumps that amount.
BE WARNED THE APP SHOWS BOOKS YOU CANNOT DOWNLOAD.
Also the link for App support is totally useless, not a specific page for app support but rather a general page.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased the app has improved but are very sorry that your experience continues to be poor. The VA Connect app has recently been updated to address issues and include new features. We hope your experience using this new app is better. For support please call the Vision Australia Library on 1300 654 656.
