Thomson Software Solutions is the leading provider of software for eye care professionals in Europe and has users all over the world. This application joins a family of software for vision assessment and screening originally devised by Professor David Thomson. Replace all your test types, near charts, near testing units etc. with over 500 test screens and images in one slick application. The Vision Toolbox exploits the superb graphics capabilities of the iPad to provide a huge range of vision assessment tools for eye care professionals (ophthalmologists, optometrists, orthoptists and opticians). Access different tests by simply rotating the iPad and view variations by swiping the screen. Select the test that you want directly by viewing the thumbnail gallery and draw on the screen using your finger. Pan and zoom some of the images or display as a slide show. No eye care professional can afford to be without it! The tools are divided into five categories: Near vision assessment: By holding the iPad at a normal reading distance, The Vision Toolbox can be used to assess a wide range of near vision functions including: - Test types (Adult and children's test types) - LogMAR reading test - LogMAR near charts - Task images (Maps, books, newspaper etc. to ensure the patient can perform these real world tasks) - Binocular vision tests (fixation disparity, binocularity, suppression, stereopsis, 3D red/green anaglyphs) - Duochrome (dots, letters, rings) - Amsler (positive and negative contrast, draw directly on charts and email the results) - Fixation targets (clown, crosses, letters, cartoons) - Miscellaneous (convergence, astigmatism, Maddox rod) 3 metre assessment: View Vision Toolbox from 3 metres and you can assess a wide range of distance vision functions. I want to return it. Is there a way to return the app? ### 5/5 — Great software, a must for UK locum optometrists *2015-08-30, version 2.4.1* Great software, I use for domiciliary clinics and as a back up when locuming, I much prefer and rely on this in practice rather than other commonly found test chart solutions. A full version of testchart 2000, with remote or dual screening designing for locums and domiciliary in mind would be a great addition to this already excellent range of products. ### 5/5 — A must have *2014-03-06, version 2.0* Love the new look and feel of the app and improvements to the user interface. The coloured fringes that appeared with IOS 7 have been fixed. Also takes full advantage of retina resolution. This is a really great application. Easy to use and containing a huge range of tests. If you were to buy all the tests that this app delivers in the form of boxes, cards, charts etc. it would cost you hundreds of pounds - I can't believe that other reviewers are complaining about £40! Patient's love the high tech approach to near vision testing and it is great to have some many tests in one place. It is also useful for domiciliary visits although the full Test Chart Xpert system from the same company is a better option if you are doing a lot of visits. There are loads of images to help explain conditions and products to patients although some of the images could be clearer. It would also be good to have some more videos. The toolkit also contains some useful utilities. Don't be put off by some of the other reviews - this is a professional tool at a very reasonable price given that it is not aimed at the mass market, Get real guys! ### 2/5 — In need of some improvements to justify the price *2013-11-03, version 1.0* Sadly the near reading cards all have poor quality typeface. There is colour fringing around the letters. I am sorry but for the task intended I get far better results by using a printed card and a desk lamp. Please fix this so the app is at least useful for the task it was intended to be used for. ### 1/5 — Poor effort *2013-10-10, version 1.0* Useless app! Contacted thomson software solutions they said they would contact me back they didn't! The quality of typeface is very poor ### 3/5 — Vision toolbox *2012-01-03, version 1.0* It really fails to deliver anything useful! For me the essence of this package was a reading test type which would wow my patients, it really really doesn't do that ! It is very low tech and no better than my two current near vision cards. What I personally would really like to see is, a page full of same size text, which I could then scroll across to make larger. It would be nice if I could also import texts depending on the patients interests and have 10 to 20 different varieties of text, not just 3! Sure, the near binocular tests are nice and I might find the 3m tests useful very occasionally. For £40 I was expecting something amazing, I really don't think I will ever use it! ### 4/5 — Optom *2011-08-07, version 1.0* Excellent. Continues with the TestChart2000 themes with the addition of the suite of NV tests. Works wonderfully on my domiciliary visits and the 3m tests are very helpful for bed bound patients. The animations are almost so helpful, but incomplete which is frustrating, but what can you expect for the price. ### 1/5 — Not great *2011-06-19, version 1.0* I bought this app for a pricy sum thinking it would live up to my expectations of an optometry/ophthalmology solution in one. The features are not great, videos incomplete and Most of the tools are impractical for use in the test room setting. If you are considering purchasing this for clinical use, as I had, then I would seriously think again. Saying that some features are nice and if I had to price this app as it is, I would pay no more than £10.
