## What is Visual Order of Operations?

Visual Order of Operations helps students learn and practice the order of operations step by step.

Students can evaluate randomly generated expressions or enter their own expressions. The app supports exponentiation, division, multiplication, addition, and subtraction with integers and decimals. Expressions can also include parentheses and nested parentheses.

The app is designed to make each step visible. Students evaluate one operation at a time by tapping the operation they think should be solved next. If a student taps an operation that cannot be solved yet, the app explains why that choice is wrong. There are no penalties for wrong answers.

After each step, the result of the current operation moves into the correct place and the rest of the expression moves down. This helps students see that only one part of the expression is solved at each step.

Visual Order of Operations helps students understand that even a complicated expression can be handled one step at a time.

Visual Operator Hierarchy:

The app uses a “Boss Triangle” to show the order of operations visually. Exponents are shown at the top, multiplication and division in the middle, and addition and subtraction at the bottom. This gives students a visual model of the rules instead of relying only on mnemonics.

Settings for Random Problems:

- Allow multiplication
- Allow division
- Allow exponents
- Allow negative numbers
- Allow multi-digit numbers
- Allow decimals
- Allow parentheses
- Allow nested parentheses

Features:

- Step-by-step order of operations practice
- Randomly generated or manually entered expressions
- Supports integers and decimals
- Supports parentheses and nested parentheses
- Visual explanation when an operation cannot be solved yet
- Animated movement after each step
- No penalties for wrong answers
- Visual operator hierarchy with the Boss Triangle

### 5/5 — Idevbooks

*2018-04-11*

These are some of the most original math learning apps on the App Store, and they are excellent.

### 5/5 — Helpful!

*2016-11-18*

The app helped my daughter understand the order of operations. Easy to use and understand. Thank you!

### 4/5 — Pretty good!

*2015-10-20*

This app really helps with learning order of operations. It informs the student of when they are solving an operation in the wrong order and what should come first. It also tests their addition, subtraction, multiplication and division skills. It is possible though for a student to just click o the choices until they find the correct number. Really the only thing that bugged me about this app was that, in the rules section, it said that Exponents were the highest priority when really Parentheses were. When actually solving the problems, it said that parentheses came first. This could be confusing for some students.

### 5/5 — ~ Beautifully Made ~

Thank you Esa for another wonderful app. Your apps have provided so much visual help in understanding so many different concepts in Math. I recommend your apps for all, who have students with visual disabilities and or just need that extra help in math. Thank you again and again;-)
