I think this is the most accurate of them all. I had a couple of questions for the development team and was met with very prompt and courteous help and was asked for my “wish list” of features i’d like to see added to the app. Overall very worthwhile purchase. ### 5/5 — Honestly, the BEST tuner I have ever used. Incredible technology! *2016-04-09, version 1.1.1* I’ve been playing guitar for about 20 years. Rock, jazz, blues, some country. I actually started playing classical guitar. Needless to say, I’ve used many tuners. BOSS, Korg, Peterson Strobostomp on my pedalboard, you name it I’ve probably owned it at one point. On my iPhone I’ve tried SO many tuner apps, paid and free, I can’t even count how many. The truth is (and any player who’s worth their salt will tell you the same) that none of them are any good. They’re not accurate and don’t track well. Until now that is! Seriously, this is the app I’ve been waiting for. It’s not only better than any app I’ve used, but it’s also way better than my expensive hardware tuners. AND has a ton of crazy features. Nothing comes close, it’s worth every penny, just get it. ### 5/5 — fixed *2016-03-08, version 1.1.1* After update, this app had an issue on ipad 4. The developers responded and fixed the problem immediately. I cannot imagine ever using any of the other tuners I have looked at on the app store. The tuner can tune any instrument including guitars, basses, and just about any other string or horn instrument. This tuner is so accurate! Then I heard about Vitaltuner, and this app is PERFECT. Does everything I need, and more. I’ll never have to buy another tuner ever again! :D ### 5/5 — Highly recommended, highly applauded! *2014-10-10, version 1.0.2* As a professional bassist, I use tuners all the time, whether at home, on my gigs, in the studio, or teaching... Having a good quality tuner that is super accurate and at your disposal via an iPhone is a complete asset. This tuner totally slays ALL the other ones on the market, hands down. I've owned and used the infamous Clear-tune, and Vital-tuner just leaves it in the dust! SUPER precise, quick, and tracks all the way down to my low B-string on 5-string bass with ease... A feat no other iPhone tuner is able to detect. It also grabs pitches and locks them in on my acoustic upright bass via the internal mic without any hitches. That's difficult even with most clip-on and plug in tuners! Amazing... I don't know how they did it!!! All my basses (and some guitars) remain sitting pretty and perfectly tuned up on account of this easy-to-use app. It's quickly becoming my first reference, even before a "regular" tuner (like a proper Boss, Korg, etc.) Another cool feature is the multitude of temperaments and altered tunings, according to instrument and genre. Chamber music, early music, ethnic music, all get the proper regulated intonation with the aid of this app. The developer definitely spent A LOT of time researching all of these little finer points and features like this would be indispensable to me if I were playing those specific styles. Super pro, super cool! Thumbs all the way up. I STILL can't believe how well it tracks my low B-string and upright bass!!! Usually unheard of. Thank you, thank you, thank you...(cue: applause) ### 5/5 — Most comprehensive tuner *2014-09-06, version 1.0.1* This tuner works wonderfully for all types of instruments and temperaments. I like how you can use it easily in the dark on stage to tune. This will be the only tuner anyone needs. ### 5/5 — Makes tuning really simple and fast – way better than my other tuner *2014-09-06, version 1.0.1* I can't believe I paid literally 6 times more than this awesome app for a cheap made in china tuner that barely worked. My buddy told me about vital tuner and I got it about a week ago. Wow. Huuuge difference. I just started taking acoustic guitar lessons and Vital tuner has a mode called Easy mode which is so awesome. It shows me the string I'm tuning and I can press play and hear it too. I can't say more other than it's one of the best apps I've downloaded for music. I would have hoped this app would have that function. When I switch to the tuner it fails to work. Am I missing something in the setup or is it meant to be this limited. ### 3/5 — Good tuner but could be better *2019-12-19* This is a good tuner but could be better by improving a few things. I sent the developer an email regarding my issues on this tuner, I got an automated reply informing me that they received my email, after 3-5 months, I received an email from John about my problems with the app, asking me some questions about what adaptor I’m using to connect my acoustic/electric guitar to my iphone and what version of iphone I’m using to try and solve the problem I’m having, we’re still on the process of solving my problem . My apologies to The developers for assuming that they abandoned their apps or no longer cared. I play the lute whose moveable frets allow one to adjust the tempering for individual pieces. I usually play in 1/6 comma meantone temperament, in which some of the enharmonic equivalents - for example G# and Ab - are VERY different notes. Unfortunately, VITALTuner only shows one of these and I have to tune the other by ear. It’s a good tool for those of us exploring early music, but not quite there yet. (If you have no idea what I’m talking about, everything else is worth 5 stars.) ### 4/5 — Great tuner! *2020-04-15, version 1.1.4* I really like this tuner. It seems very accurate, and the features and versatility are great! The main reason I wanted this app was to explore sweeter tunings and specifically use it for “James Taylor” tuning. But I can’t figure out how to set up the custom offsets correctly. How can I have a different offset for the high and low “E” strings on a guitar? But reading through reviews of other tuning apps was like mini-horror stories. So I dropped the one time purchase for this app and after just finishing using it must say I am happy with the seeming effectiveness of it as well as it’s simplicity to use ### 5/5 — Replaced my dedicated tuner *2019-06-24, version 1.1.4* It seems to work at least as well as my dedicated tuner. I drop my phone onto my monitor and it picks up my guitar fine like that. Sweeter tunings and custom offsets are nice because I tend to tweak things that way. ### 5/5 — Sweetened Tuning *2019-06-09, version 1.1.4* I have struggled with getting my guitar in tune with traditional tuners and have really bought into the whole James Taylor sweetened tuning approach. Not until I got this app with an iRig 2 have I found a practical, reasonably fast way to tune with sweetened tuning live. I am very pleased! Highly recommend all of the above. ### 5/5 — Excellent for keyboard instruments *2018-11-01, version 1.1.4* This app is accurate, easy to use, and will work for any instrument. It is particularly useful for players of keyboard instruments who want to tune in something other than equal temperament. The app offers the largest number of historical tunings I have seen anywhere, and they are well researched and documented. ### 5/5 — Truly excellent *2017-11-23, version 1.1.4* After using other tuning apps for 3 years this has been the most accurate for tuning the guitar carefully, and has music theory details that are missing from other apps. Very few other ones show stave notes (though piano format only). It is nice to use and take a little time over.
