As of recently, it continues to crash. I’m having to open it up for five times every time I go to use it due to it crashing. It is an amazing quality app, I just wish it was running better. ### 2/5 — Frustrating experience with connectivity and outdated interface *2025-06-28, version 2.15.2* The app frequently loses its configuration settings without warning, requiring us to reconnect and reconfigure from scratch. This often means scanning the QR code from the receiver again — which is impossible when you’re away from home, effectively locking you out of the system until you return. It’s incredibly frustrating, especially when traveling. Additionally, the app’s user interface feels outdated and clunky, more like something from 2019. In today’s tech landscape, apps should see noticeable improvements in usability and reliability every 12–18 months — if not sooner. Barely Works. *2023-01-13, version 2.8.5* It’s clear this app is never updated. It’s almost impossible to use and barely works. When it does work it’s fine but that’s about 10% of the time. It’s not very user friendly. Have to go log in to the dvr to change sensitivity of notifications. Upgraded to iPhone and cannot press buttons in top right and left to add a DVR. The app is useless. Considering I can only use Internet Explorer on PC (insecure, deprecated browser) to connect to DVR, this means I essentially cannot access my DVR at all. I called the help desk and they mentioned a software update on my screen device- but provided no insight on how to get it. ### 1/5 — Has Never Connect To My Server *2018-06-05, version 2.2* It will let me add the server via the QR code, the little server status icon becomes solid, but the Preview button remains grey. The server type is indicated as unknown. In the display screen the server list is blank. This app MUST be updated so all of us one star reviewers can have access to the equipment we purchased! Also, there needs to be some troubleshooting tools added instead of leaving us with this go/no-go only option. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Insultingly terrible app *2026-02-20, version 2.16.6* I've probably reviewed this app three times and every time it somehow manages to be worse than the last time. The issue these days? It refuses to accept my (correct) login information. Vitek is a scam company that exists exclusively by bribing local installers to use their garbage over better options. ### 1/5 — Barely works *2025-03-25, version 2.15.2* This app/cameras barely work. Half the time i can’t even load my cameras, and It logs you out. If i can rate this a half star i would. ### 1/5 — User Interface and connection *2025-03-20, version 2.15.2* User interface and connection are terrible the company won’t spend money on developers to update it appropriately, maintain good connectivity and easy to use user interface. Poor dev tech. Don’t use them or buy their product. Every single employee to work for this company should be embarrassed to work for Vitek. ### 1/5 — Horrible *2024-08-13, version 2.13.5* This app used to work just fine to monitor my security cameras. Now…it goes offline at any random moment and won’t come back. I have had the security company come out a few times and it works for a couple of weeks. I am so very frustrated with it! ### 1/5 — Blurry footage *2023-09-30, version 2.12.2* Ever since the update all my footage is blurry. It’s clear footage until there’s any kind of movement then it says it’s going to lower resolution. But then you can’t see anything. So what’s the point of having a camera. Been like this for months with no fix. Don’t recommend them. ### 1/5 — Terrible App, worse update *2023-09-30* This app has always been one of the worst things I've used. Then they updated it. Now I have to manually close out the app because if I multitask it, the video won't play. But what can I do? You slimeballs got my money and you have zero incentive to improve because what are we gonna do? Invest in another camera system? ### 1/5 — New app update is terrible *2023-09-17, version 2.12.2* The old version of the app, I never had issues with viewing content in super high resolution. In the new app, every time I change the resolution in live view or in a recording, it automatically reverts to the lowest setting. It indicates that that lower bandwidth is suggested and within 2 or 3 seconds it automatically selects the lowest bandwidth. This needs to be fixed. It’s not a bandwidth issue on the recorder or the viewing device. I have checked both and they are both receiving at least 500MB of data transfer. ### 1/5 — New Auto-Resolution feature terrible *2023-09-07, version 2.12.2* They added a new auto resolution feature into the app, and there’s no way to turn it off. Even though I have strong connections on all ends, everything always reverts to low def and is super blurry and I can never see anything. I’ll change it to super definition, and then within moments it automatically changes back. It’s been terrible and almost unusable. ### 1/5 — Remote playback works 0.2% of the time *2021-12-27, version 2.8.5* I have tried everything to get remote playback to work over the past year. Nothing works but it used to, probably about a year ago. My ring is much more reliable. I’ve had professionals check the system but to access from your phone which is really the only place you need to check it never works. What’s the point of this if you can’t playback any video. It’s useless. I updated the app now it says system busy on remote playback. So I just access Ring and it works perfect everytime. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Better than every other option *2026-05-16, version 2.17.0* I have used several apps over the years and Transcendent is by far the best solution I’ve ever seen. There are a ton of features! Basic functionality is intuitive. Advanced features may take a while to learn just because there’s so much available. On top of what you would expect, mainly viewing and recording video, you also have the ability to control a significant portion of the NVR settings through this app. There are some things that still have to be done through the NVR itself, but I think that’s how it should be as well. There have been times when the app needed updates, but calling Vitek Tech Support they have always had an answer, or work around, or have gotten back to me in short order with Solutions they’re small enough company that you can almost always get a hold of somebody quickly ### 5/5 — Powerful but lacks basic feature. *2022-05-04, version 2.8.5* This app really is a powerhouse. You can pretty much perform remote administration of your NVR without the need to ever go on site. Viewing live video is a breeze and navigating playback of recordings is pretty simple too. Would be nice to have the ability to jump to the next segment when viewing alerts. The timeline clearly shows you where things occurred in time but drafting the timeline to those points in time is hit or miss. I’m sure there’s some powerful feature that does exactly this that I have not yet discovered. As I said, this app is a powerhouse. Maybe I have more to learn! :) Update: and look at that, I just discovered how to do it! Amazing application! Request: wonder if it’s possible to get the nvr to recognize presets stored on a ip camera when using the onvif protocol, the onvif protocol does disclose preset information. My nvr just doesn’t see it. ### 5/5 — Best camera app ive used *2021-06-11, version 2.7.3* As a dealer/installer for Vitek and many other brands I can confidently say this is the best app i’ve seen. These 1 star reviews are years old and their issues have been resolved. I help dozens of clients upload and work this app every week and there just are’t issues. Is it perfect? No. But its intuitive and easy to use.
