### 2/5 — Not Worth It

*2026-06-08, version 2025.6*

Expensive machine that requires subscription to fully work as intended. The app is not great, requiring you to check your email every log-in. Doesn’t track workouts if you don’t subscribe to app. I don’t recommend this to anyone. Save your money and get a gym membership.

### 4/5 — Good not great

*2025-08-01, version 2025.6*

Good app. Want: real time force output graph like ARX. Echo as basic feature, not paid. 130% eccentric echo. Easier ability to redo a set in a workout.

### 3/5 — Good app but please keep me logged in

*2025-07-06, version 2025.6*

Its a decent app and works well enough for my sessions once I get going. would like the app the keep me logged in at all times. It seems like every week it’ll log me out or after some inactivity. At the very least I’d like to stay logged in for a month at a time.

### 2/5 — Subscription required

*2025-06-17*

There should to be tiered subscription options. You pay a few thousand dollars for a machine that only fully works with the subscription, which is more expensive than it’s worth if you aren’t using any of the programming or classes. You can’t see your workout history or keep from hitting yourself in the face when your timed set is done because the sound to let you know it’s done is behind a paywall. This seems like a safety concern but the company isn’t interested in including this or other basic features in the price of the machine. You’ll get very little help from customer service if you aren’t a paid subscriber and no improvements have been made in the two years I’ve had the machine that are available to non-subscribers. If money isn’t a concern, it’s a great machine. If you don’t want to pay monthly on top of what the machine costs, look elsewhere.

### 2/5 — Buggy

*2025-06-03, version 2025.6*

Vitruvian machine itself is great, really disappointed though that the app is super buggy

### 2/5 — Profits over everything

*2025-05-17, version 2025.5*

Seems profits are the priority of Vitruvian, a machine that relies on the app and connectivity to work should have fantastic maintenance and updates. You pay a premium of $588(AUD) a year subscription so you expect the best, probably need to look at the system and have a back up option where you can login in the case of a problems and still be able to use the just lift function.

What’s the point of paying over $3000 for a machine that we can’t use 🤷🏻‍♂️ I’m actually hoping this machine breaks so I can go back to the traditional gym.

Lack of progress updates when things wrong just tops it off.

### 1/5 — Greedy Developers, Scam app

*2025-04-21, version 2025.3*

Spend over $3000 on a home fitness machine that needs an app to run and the most basic safety features are locked behind a subscription. Unless you pay $50 each month you can’t do the included strength assessment and the app is permanently in mute. No noise indicator for rep counting or completed sets so your head is always turned towards your screen to see what’s happening. New and live workouts and coaching sessions can be behind paywall but this level of greed is embarrassing. If you haven’t already purchased the device don’t.

### 3/5 — Terrible connectivity

*2025-03-08, version 2025.3*

Connecting to the trainer from the app is incredibly unreliable. The app is also not intuitive and takes a long time to learn. Sometimes it ramps up the resistance to 3 x my max weight on its own unexpectedly and has potential for causing injury.

### 1/5 — App crashes mid workout

*2025-01-15, version 2024.18*

App keeps crashing and greying out the options from within workout meaning you have to restart and lose the progress from the workout you were mid way through.

### 1/5 — Update ruined my records

*2025-01-07, version 2024.18*

Recent firmware update wiped all my maxes. Now every exercise is capped at 45lbs for “safety” and I have to start from scratch to get it back up to unlocking all 220lbs. Utter garbage. Treating the customer like a daycare attendee. If I want 200lbs, give me 220lbs. $3000 on a machine that babysits you.

### 1/5 — Great machine. Bad app. Horrible subscription paywall to basic features.

*2024-12-18*

The most basic functions are bricked without paying for the subscription. Which is pretty disappointing considering the cost of the machine. This includes functions like simply setting the amount of weight and lifting (their "just lift setting"), displaying how much weight you just lifted after finishing a set (since it dynamically adjusts weight in some settings), and simple sound effects like a chime after a rest timer goes off. I understand paying for classes and additional content, but bricking simple functions seems wrong.

Other than that, the overall UX/UI experience is a little disappointing with basic features and functionality lacking.

### 1/5 — Greedy

*2024-12-11, version 2024.18*

Everything is behind a paywall. Even features that used to be “free” are now behind a $40 a month paywall.

### 1/5 — Used To Love It

*2024-11-30, version 2024.18*

I used to love the Vitruvian…then my subscription ran out. Without the subscription the machine is pretty much unusable. I bought a Speediance Gym Monster instead and love it.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Ripoff

*2025-09-29, version 2025.6*

After spending 3k on this machine ai would expect the app has decent functionality without a membership.

The app was already quite mediocre but I just found out that without the membership the app is completely useless.

This is really a ripoff. Shame on you thieves!

### 1/5 — Avoid at any cost

*2025-07-03, version 2025.6*

What do you do when the app decides to not connect to the trainer?

Nothing really, you just have a useless hunk of waste that cost way too much money that cannot be used.

The fact that the hardware is unusable without the buggy app is insane and a scam.

### 1/5 — Great hardware, ok software, bad company

*2025-06-30*

I love the Vitruvian trainer. It provides one of the most interesting and robust home resistance training options out there.

The software is fine for the most part, except when it stopped working for a very very long time due to poor operations.

That being said, it’s a start up and things like this happen.

The reason for the one star rating is the incredibly poor response by Vitruvian leadership.

The software outage was primarily greeted with silence and no details given.

At one point there was a very generic “we’re working on it” but this is the kind of d if situation that demands the CEO come out and explain exactly what happened and what’s being done.

The details are far less important than the high bandwidth communication.

You’ve done way more damage to your product by terrible communication than any amount of software mistake.

### 1/5 — I cannot believe how terrible the app and video content is!

*2025-06-04, version 2025.6*

I’ve had the board for a few years and having dipped in and out of the programs I can confirm that it’s hugely frustrating and not user focussed at all! Please work on your user content and journey! Firstly when I join a program the app doesn’t seem to remember so I spend the first few minutes trying to find the program again and trying to remember where I am! So frustrating!!!! Also I just find the videos really unhelpful. Why don’t they show the Ariel view and help describe foot positions, the front of back of the board. Sometimes seeing the motions and the detail up close would help in the early stages of getting familiar with the moves! Instead the camera just focuses on the instructor! Come on guys! I just think they miss a huge trick in making this user friendly to engage and retain usage! I can’t remember the last time the whole experience was smooth, functional and enjoyable! Poor customer experience and the journey is just not fit for the brand quality and quality/expense of the weight machine itself! Surely these guys can do better!!!!

### 1/5 — Needs strong internet connection to work

*2025-05-19*

I recently moved to a very rural area and don’t have wifi. My cell connection is mediocre at best. I recently discovered that you need a strong internet connection to even connect to your trainer and use it. Utter garbage. A $3000 machine that can’t even work on its own. I get it, software and firmware need regular updates. But not being able to use a piece of hardware without an internet connection is asinine. It’s like not being able to use your washing machine without wifi. $3000 for what?

**Developer response:** Hi there! Thanks for sharing your thoughts—we appreciate hearing from you. Our team is always working to improve and create the best experience possible. If you have any questions or need assistance, please feel free to reach out to support@vitruvianform.com.

### 1/5 — Meh

*2025-05-19, version 2025.6*

App is terrible. Very basic stuff behind paywall, hardware is expensive enough and the subscription is way too expensive for what it offers. Also the three rep set up is annoying and doesn’t work well. Finally, it’s annoying to have to keep tricking it to unlock more weight. Just let me select what I want.

### 1/5 — Bricked machine!!

*2025-05-18, version 2025.5*

What an absolute joke, $3000+ machine that can be bricked because of an app issue..no offline mode?! Absolutely unacceptable. It’s been 48hrs and I still can’t use my machine… this company has lost some serious trust from its customers! If an offline mode doesn’t come in the next update be prepared for a lawsuit!

### 1/5 — Useless

*2025-05-18, version 2025.5*

Won’t let you log in

### 1/5 — Unreliable app

*2025-05-17, version 2025.5*

Great piece of equipment, however app reliability is very spotty. Major issues with every update.

### 1/5 — Garbage Product and App

*2025-05-17, version 2025.5*

Vitruvian is currently having issues with their servers, so the app is not working and completely bricked the trainer. Completely useless and still cost $40 per month. Would return if possible, don’t get stuck buying one of these lemons.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Love it! August 2026

*2026-08-09, version 2025.6*

Great customer service great machine. I use it often and whenever I need anything the truth is always there to respond and send me anything that I need.

### 5/5 — Best fitness machine

*2026-01-15, version 2025.6*

I really like my Vitruvian. It’s a powerhouse and has a max capability of 440 lbs, the most of any digital resistance machine. It has terrific modes such as eccentric and echo that really add to the quality of my workout.

### 5/5 — Love- gutted it’s liquidated

*2025-12-15, version 2025.6*

Love my machine & more than gutted the company has liquidated esp. after buying my lifetime subscription. Waiting for it to bricks using it while I can..so sad. An incredible machine.

### 5/5 — Be Strong Again

*2025-05-25, version 2025.6*

Keeping this 73 y/o
man strong. Death begins in the legs. Nope, not me thanks to the Vitruvian Gym 👍

### 5/5 — State of the Art

*2025-05-03, version 2025.5*

Quite simply the easiest and most efficient way to maximize strength training from the comfort of your own home!

### 5/5 — I find the app relatively easy to use despite some users not necessarily agreeing

*2025-01-23*

You may not be getting the big touchscreen fancy stuff with things such as tonal or speediance but I’d say the app for the Vitruvian is pretty user friendly and you can pick it up relatively quickly. So far loving the machine

**Developer response:** We are pleased that you enjoyed the app. If there is anything we can do for you, just let us know at support@vitruvianform.com! Have a wonderful day!

### 5/5 — Great Frequent Improvements

*2025-01-15, version 2024.18*

Every version adds great features to the kit, glad to see it keep maturing. Feature request would be to add classes that use echo mode. It’s the only reason I subscribed to be honest.

### 5/5 — Great

*2024-11-17, version 2024.18*

Love the app

### 5/5 — Amazing product

*2024-09-06, version 2024.13*

Researched several models that offered magnetic resistance and Vitruvian was hands down the best option. From the various lifting modes, self spotting and abundance of exercises, this was well worth the price. If you had to replicate the exercises with equipment purchases, the cost and space required would be counter productive for most people. You’re getting more than what you pay for with this! Too many positive aspects to go on.

### 5/5 — Steady improvements to an already great app

*2024-08-24, version 2024.11*

- of course you need the device to use it
- never crashed on my side
- continuous updates fix feedback from the community
- some stuff is only accessible through pro (e.g. advanced statistics), but all basic functionalities if you know your way around weights work well
