### 1/5 — Uncancelable Product Warning

*2026-03-27*

Before you download this product. You should be aware if you cancel you have to send the plastic tat back, or even after cancelling direct debit and app you will be charged £25. Unfortunately this device doesnt work only monitoring your driving data. Its secondary purpose is to check car issues. However this is a secondary purpose. This device has cost me over £600 in an engine repair. Please do not use this device as an engine warning tool. You will have an unfortunate experience with Vixa.

**Developer response:** Hi, we're sorry to hear about the issues you've experienced. If you haven't already raised your concerns, please email support@vixa.co.uk with your reg so we can take a look into this.

### 1/5 — One of the worst purchases made, avoid at all costs!

*2025-11-07*

Got this as had an intermittent engine light come on and off. After a few weeks, EML light came on. A few days later, app says everything is fine so message support who said: unfortunately the device can’t always pick specific dashboard lights”. So it can’t pick up the most important one, apparently.

Next, on the back of that I used their free diagnostic. Booked it and was called to say the garage is chosen didn’t deal with what I suspected the issue to be (timing belt), so booked me with another.

When I arrived at that garage on the booking day, they couldn’t find it. Eventually they saw it in waiting but they said they no longer dealt with them because they were unreliable. The garage then went on to say when booked via them, any subsequent work is carried out through AA and billed to them, who add on their own charges and pass it to me. Therefore the free diagnostic isn’t free.

Finally, when trying to cancel i have had to contact support several times, despite every time them saying its cancelled but I still get charged.

It’s hard to believe this is run by a legitimate company to be honest. Avoid at all costs.

**Developer response:** Hi there, we're sorry to hear you're unhappy with your Vixa device. We'd recommend using the free diagnostic health check to try to get to the bottom of the issues with the car, but please reach back out to the team if there's anything else we can help with.

### 1/5 — Not working

*2025-07-04*

As of 4/7/25.

So far I’ve had the app/device about 1 month and it’s still not connected. I’ve rung up a few times to be told each time that it’s being sorted and someone will be in touch, except the last time when I was finally told that there’s a problem with some newer members and the problem seems to be ongoing at present with no clear date as to when it’s going to be fixed.

I’m just currently waiting to see if they’re going to charge me again for a service which doesn’t work and they know doesn’t work.

**Developer response:** Hi there, we're sorry to hear this. Please keep in touch and write to support@vixa.co.uk so this can be looked into further.

### 1/5 — Not ready for use

*2024-10-05*

I had the Car Genie app from when it was released, and apart from one or two login issues it worked fine. I expected this to be an improvement but it’s a total backward step. There is no longer any tracking data shown for routes. The gps location for parking takes 12 hrs or so to update, by which time I’ve moved. The driving behaviour data doesn’t update at all. It recorded my first two journeys and gave me a score but hasn’t updated for a week. The Car Genie app worked really well at this and showed the number and location of incidents where it assessed you could have braked smoother or accelerated less. This is baffling as to why they replaced a perfectly good app with something less functional and more expensive. I’ll keep it for a few months to see if it improves but if not it’ll be going in the bin.

October Update : DON’T BOTHER WITH THIS APP. After having this for a few months now I can say it’s not got any better. I’ve had a permanent battery fault apparently since day one, despite the fact my battery is brand new and it sits on a trickle charger if I’m away. Still no journey tracking option despite being told it would be coming out in a few months. The trip data is worthless as it’s impossible to correlate it with any specific travel. It hasn’t updated the speed report icon for weeks.

This is blatantly a piece of software designed to try and get you to buy a service or a new battery doubtless with some sort of kickback to the AA. As a member for over 30 years and someone who’s always been really happy with the breakdown service provided, this is a poorly designed, badly implemented and ultimately frustrating app which is in no way a substitute for what Car Genie offered. Do better AA.

Cancelling.

**Developer response:** Hi there, we are looking to introduce trips into the Vixa app soon, please keep a look out for future updates. If you can email support@vixa.co.uk with information on your journey/parking scored, the team can look into this further.

### 1/5 — Too many battery errors being reported

*2024-03-26*

Seems to me that there are several members on here who are now reporting battery errors when there aren’t any. Some have even spent money getting this looked at or even buying a new battery when this is all unnecessary. Your stock answer is that the new app measures batteries in a different way. So much so that it reports errors that don’t exist? I think you should listen to what members are saying and act on it. How much time would be wasted if we all called you out for a non existent fault?
Why don’t you turn off this app and work on it until it’s reporting the right information? Please trial it on your own vehicles before testing it on your members.

**Developer response:** Hi there — thanks for your feedback. The new AA-X battery health algorithm is more complex and looks at 4 factors whereas Car Genie only measures voltage, this is why the two can show different readings. If you could email us at aax@theaa.com with your car reg and AA membership number and our team will be happy to investigate for you. Thanks, The AA-X Team.

### 2/5 — It’s ok for car Health, but that’s it.

*2025-09-02*

I’m giving it 2 stars as if you want to keep an eye on how your car is doing then it’s a good app if you’re willing to pay £5.99 a month. I don’t recommend using the app to book services/MOTs through a mobile mechanic as they are not reliable and can cancel on you; I recommend going elsewhere like Halfords or Kwik Fit. I think in terms of this issue they ether lower their monthly fee or make it more easier and reliable for this type of thing. 😒😒

**Developer response:** Hi there, we appreicate you taking the time to provide feedback on Vixa. If you’d be happy to speak with us and give us feedback on what’s coming next, please email us at support@vixa.co.uk with your vehicle registration (and AA membership number if applicable) and we’ll be in touch.

### 2/5 — Not looking good

*2024-12-01*

Installed device today. I got this device after talking to the AA and asking if it would let me see any actual codes the car throws. They said yes. I can’t find that feature. The app says it can’t check my battery and that I have not driven anywhere after a 3 hour journey. I tried to contact support and have waited 2 hours for no response from the chat bot which said it would transfer me to a human and kindly told me to ‘feel free to get on with my day’!

Maybe the app will settle in but with these issues, lack of support and rather patronising approach to supposed customer service this does not look good.

Sadly this seems to be another aspect of the once trusted and treasured AA brand falling short, which was also my experience with AA roadside assistance recently.

I will update my review if things change.

**Developer response:** Hi Howard, thanks for your feedback. It can take up to 20 trips for your driving score to be calibrated so check back in after a few more trips. If you continue to have issues, email us at support@vixa.co.uk with your car registration (and AA membership number if applicable) and we’ll be happy to help.

### 2/5 — New Battery - Still Reporting Fault

*2024-05-23*

For 6 months the app said my battery health was poor. Eventually the battery did go so I replaced it. The app is still reporting poor battery health despite a brand new battery. Problems with batteries seems to be a feature of many reviews on here, so maybe the app has a problem or the device monitoring the battery? Either way it’s a nuisance getting an email each day reporting a non-existent battery fault.

REPLY TO AAx RESPONSE:
I will email you my details, however your response would hold more weight with me if my new battery had been fitted in the last few days. It’s almost a month ago since I had it changed and it’s still reporting problems…

**Developer response:** Hi Eric, we're sorry to hear you're having issues with the battery fault detection. If you have a new battery fitted outside of the AA network, the app can take a few days to recognise it and update. We want to get this sorted for you asap so if you could email us with your vehicle registration and AA membership details, we'll look into this for you. Best, The AA-X Team.

### 2/5 — Battery report

*2024-03-29*

I have been using AA Genie for some years and found it a very convenient motoring tool. So far, although I appreciate AAx still being developed, I’m not overly impressed. The battery report AI algorithm is far from providing useful information. Since the introduction of AAx to one of my cars, I have received three battery “Very Poor” or “Poor” report warnings. On the first occasion, I went to my local garage who tested my relatively new battery’s condition. All was fine and continues to be fine. A home full charge to the battery still reads as “Poor” on the AAx app. Not a good start with AI for me.

**Developer response:** Hi there — thanks for your feedback. We're sorry to hear the battery messaging isn't reflecting in the app. We'd like to get this sorted for you so please could you email us t aax@theaa.com with your AA membership no. and VRN and we'd be happy to help. Best, The AA-X Team.

### 2/5 — Battery changed but constant alerts

*2024-03-17*

I plugged this device in several weeks ago. I received several alerts regarding the condition of my battery. I had the battery changed but still receive alerts about the “very poor” state of the battery. I have taken the car to the garage who have carried out a full diagnostic check and everything is absolutely fine. I’m not confident in the reliability and accuracy of this device currently. At the moment it’s just increasing my anxiety levels.

**Developer response:** Hi Carmar — we're really sorry to hear that you're having issues with the app after a battery change. We want to get this sorted for you so please can you email us with your car registration and AA membership number to aax@theaa.com and one of our team will assist you. Thank you, The AA-X Team.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — It’s okay…

*2025-02-25*

I like the idea behind it, shows my engine and battery are good which is fine, the issue I have is with the driving score - shows my speed at a much lower score than my acceleration, breaking and idling which I found strange as I don’t speed - looking into it says the optimum speed is 37-68mph which is all well and good but majority of the roads around my area are 30, with the occasional 40. I don’t see why they can’t lower the limit as not many local roads have a high speed limit, so this in turn lowers my overall driving score.

**Developer response:** Hi Becky, thanks for sharing your experience so far, it’s really appreciated. If you can send more info in an email to the team by writing to support@vixa.co.uk they can take a look at this for you.

### 5/5 — Good

*2024-07-11*

Got this when it was a trial, it’s an all round good app it can tell you if there’s something wrong with the car and continues to monitor it but also it shows your driving score and can tell you how to improve it so you use less fuel and if you have the thing installed you track where you car it overall what’s not to like

**Developer response:** We're over the moon to hear you're loving Vixa 🥰🚗.

### 5/5 — First booking via the app & new insights

*2024-06-18*

Completed my first booking via the AA-X app yesterday. The garage picked up and dropped my car back off which meant I could get on with my day. The AA team kept in regular contact with any extras needed to be done & the customer service was excellent. I’m absolutely loving the new insight features on the app too so I can monitor the health of my car!

**Developer response:** Thanks so much for your 5* review Loz2029! We're glad your repair booking and works went so smoothly and that you're enjoying the app experience. Best, The Vixa Team.

### 5/5 — New smart app from The AA Amazing

*2024-04-18*

AA have launched a new app so if you breaking down or something happens to your car, it lets you know so when the light comes on the dashboard, it’ll come onto your smart phone and let you know the problem so if you’re in a different city, I’ll let you find a garage quickly as possible. I would highly recommend the communication with AA is really good. I’ve been a member for a long time.

**Developer response:** Thanks so much for your 5* feedback Fashion boy45! We're so glad to hear you're enjoying the AA-X experience. We have lots of new features coming soon too so watch this space. Have a great day! Best, The AA-X Team.

### 5/5 — All set up but not working :/

*2024-01-19*

I downloaded the app last week and got my plug in device this morning. I plugged that into my cars ODB port and went through the step by step guide on the app (red lights on plug-in are flashing indicating a 4G connection) Everytime I click ‘I’ve done this’ at the end of the tutorial in the app it has a loading icon and then does nothing. When I go press ‘close’ at the top it keeps prompting me to use the guide on the Home Screen and telling me to get started. Anyway that was this morning, I’ve been driving since leaving it plugged in, and the app still is saying the same thing, it also says the status of my car is ‘unknown’ I have unplugged the box, removed the extension (which turns out wasn’t needed) and tried again and it’s doing the same.
Also the ‘book a service’ and ‘found an issue’ buttons on the app don’t work.
I don’t know if it takes a few days to collect the data but it doesn’t look like it’s doing anything apart from the plug in box flashing.

**Developer response:** Hi, sorry you're having this issue with your device. This should be resolved now but if you're still experiencing the same problem please email us at aax@theaa.com with your vehicle reg and membership number and we will investigate. Thanks! AA-X Team

### 4/5 — Hopefully a great app.

*2023-12-15*

I tested the last AA app years ago it was great it even found my car when l had parked it. Great app but after the year long trial they cancelled it.l decided to test this one but has it been sent out to early it doesn’t do anything l just get a message that things are coming soon. I also use drive score which tracks my driving that started operating straight away. I hope this will be as good as the last AA driving app.

**Developer response:** Hi there - thanks for your feedback, we're glad to hear you liked our last app. We've got lots of plans for this one too and we're working hard to get those features out! If you have any questions, feel free to email us at aax@theaa.com with your membership number so we can help. Thanks! AA-X Team

### 3/5 — Not Particularly Accurate

*2025-11-30*

Was warned that battery had poor health over 6 months ago. Got it checked and it was fine. Just recently it started to struggle to turn over and as winter is coming, I had it replaced. Now get a message that it can take up to 8 weeks for it to register on the app which is pretty poor. Also, they pointed me towards a battery that would cost over £250. Seems a bit steep to me.

**Developer response:** Hey, Vixa is evolving every day, and we're working hard on new and quicker features. It really helps to hear your honest feedback and suggestions. We hope your battery replacement went well and it'll be registered on your app soon.

### 3/5 — Fitting was easy but not sure what it’s for

*2024-07-01*

Every time I’ve driven the car for months now, the dashboard pops up warnings about ABS, City Stop and Hill Start Assist not working but the app reports nothing. A couple of weeks ago, a fuel injector failed and the car popped up a warning saying “engine malfunction: service immediately” but the app still reports that the engine is fine. The only warning it’s ever given was about battery health when the car hadn’t been driven for a couple of weeks—there’s nothing wrong with the battery, which was supplied and fitted by the AA not that long ago. So no real complaints, but it doesn’t seem to do anything useful.

**Developer response:** Hi djchadderton — We're sorry to hear you're having issues with the app. We want to look into this and get it resolved for you so could you email our customer service team at support@vixa.co.uk with your car registration and AA membership no. and we'll look into it? Thanks! The Vixa Team.

### 3/5 — Keeps telling me battery is in very poor health

*2024-03-17*

I have had the app for a couple of months now. Last week it told me that my battery was in poor health. My husband put the battery on a charger which showed that there was no problem at all. Days later it is still sending me the same message. I went back into Car Genie and it says my battery is healthy! AAx is no good if you can’t trust what it is telling you.

**Developer response:** Hi 2SonMum — thank you for your feedback. The new AA-X battery health algorithm is more complex and looks at 4 factors whereas Car Genie only measures voltage, this is why the two can show different readings. If you could email us at aax@theaa.com with your car reg and AA membership number and our team will be happy to look into this for you. Thanks, The AA-X Team.

### 3/5 — Log in required frequently

*2024-02-07*

I have just downloaded the update for the app, and now find that I need to log in to my account every time I open the app. And even sometimes when I leave it open! Hopefully that wasn't done deliberately? Please address this quickly. It's a right pain having to keep looking up the password every time I try to use the app.
Even my banking app doesn't do that!

**Developer response:** Hi 4BeatBars — thanks for your feedback and we're really sorry you experienced an issue with the app. The development team are aware and if you haven't already, please delete and redownload the app, this issue should now be solved. If you have any further problems, please email us at aax@theaa.com with your car registration and membership number. Best, The AA-X Team.
