Bell lets you watch while away, so why not vmedia? ### 2/5 — Fix the guide on Apple TV *2024-06-01, version 1.14.4* Ever since the app was updated to show live video feed on the channel while scrolling on the guide, when you stop on any channel to read the summary of the program and the live video feed plays and you then continue to attempt to scroll again, it constantly jumps back to the channel you stopped on that showed the live video feed. So you have to start the scrolling from that previous channel again. Annoying. ### 2/5 — Cannot AirPlay from iPhone to smart tv *2021-07-19, version 1.5.1* I’ve subscribed to vmedia tv in the past and was able to airplay or even screen mirror from the app on my iPhone to my TV. Now I can play the content on the app but as soon as I airplay or screen mirror it says “content unavailable please check channel is part of subscription”. The app is useless to me at this point. Not sure if this is a way of getting clients to pay for hardware but I will be unsubscribing. ### 3/5 — App works but *2021-06-15, version 1.4.0* Missing key features like pause and rewind and Picture in Picture. As of right now, you have to leave the app to multitask. Il faut retourner au guide. ### 3/5 — VoiceOver Support *2021-05-22, version 1.4.0* VMedia TV now offers described video for blind and visually impaired customers, but the app still doesn't work great with the VoiceOver screen reader. Just from the preview mode I can tell it doesn't read channel names in the guide or categories within on-demand. Improve VoiceOver support and I can finally say goodbye to Rogers. ### 1/5 — Casting Support *2021-04-19, version 1.3.0* It would be much appreciated if there was casting support from iOS to google chromecast. ### 4/5 — Much improved *2020-12-20, version 1.0.13* After developer indicated update was coming to resolve previously mentioned problems. Initial use of the app seems to have corrected the major problems. Channel guide scrolling is fixed and works well. Scrolling is snappy and fast. It hasn’t asked me to login yet, but that was an inconsistent error before. So I’ll wait a little before assuming that’s corrected as well. Once a channel is selected, playback is next to immediate on a 300mbps connection. So everything seems to be working as intended. If I can drop a feature request here. I’d like the ability to be able to pull up the guide with the listings of what’s playing while continuing to watching another channel. The current option only gives you the channel name and number on a side bar. Our exit out of what’s currently playing and go back to the full guide. That said, thanks for correcting the problems. ### 3/5 — Was great but now it’s a mess *2020-12-16, version 1.0.13* Tv guide is useless since last update. When you start the app you get the spinner until you close and restart the app. Your QA team must be sleeping hard. I can’t understand how you can release an update like that. Fix it or rollback. ### 2/5 — Works fine then Crashes! *2020-12-09, version 1.0.13* After the app crashes once, you can't get it to restart. Reinstalling VmediaTV fails to launch after setting home location. No sign in is available and it simply buffers endlessly. Very disappointing. ### 2/5 — Getting marginally better but a ways to go! *2020-11-08, version 1.0.12* 1) Having to log into the app every time is completely impractical. My wife and kids don’t remember the password nor do they have it in their iCloud keys, nor should they. Once authenticated for the first time the feed should continue if it’s the same IP address. Cache clearing did not make a difference. 2) the guide is glitchy when scrolling from one channel to another. If an 8pm show is selected and I scroll to the channel below it and it starts at an earlier time (say 7pm), then the guide will start to scroll to that earlier time. So if I scroll a few channels I keep going back in time. It should stay on the current time unless one specially clicks forward or back. 3) when searching, the voice search function doesn’t work. That is you have to type in the search box rather than use the Apple remote voice to text function. 4) the buttons for logging in are are scrambled and the labels in “Home” section are buggy. For example a label shows up as “mychannelshomesection”. One can decipher what these labels are but they are improper and not entirely clear. ### 1/5 — Pointless App *2020-11-05, version 1.0.12* Can’t use the app unless at home (or own network) what’s the point of the app if I can’t use it on the go? In this case I just turn on my TV, bigger and better screen. And now they force geolocation on you? For one is invasion of privacy, most apps they give you the choice. Two, if you can only use the app at home, why do you need my geolocation? You know where I live. I sign up with you, remember? If no changes are done I’m considering not only deleting this app but also cancelling my subscription. ### 1/5 — Updated mess *2020-11-03, version 1.0.12* This new app is awful. I use it on my AppleTV mostly. They did away with the ability to move the guide to the current time with a single push. The app is also super broken now. If I go to another app and then back to the VMedia app I get a spinning wheel and have to close and restart the app. Also, th video quality is never good. So much buffering. Seems associated with the more popular programs: Fox Football games, AGT Live Shows. Wondering if Vmedia oversold its band width. ### 1/5 — Awful: TV pic always hangs on AppleTV; app needs to be restarted most days. *2025-02-17, version 1.15.9.2238* I wanted to like this service on Apple TV. (Switched from Rogers when they shut down my old digital cable boxes) But the Vmedia TV video constantly hangs via Apple TV. The picture freezes regularly, and I am looking at a spinning wheel. It’s like YouTube during the early days of Internet dialup. . The Apple TV is hardwired to my router. The Vmedia Internet is fine (no such issues with Netflix or Crave). So this issue is specific to the Vmedia TV service. The hockey games have a 40 second lag vs Roger’s cable. The ability to replay prior shows is cool (for channels and programs that offer it, but it’s confusing to know which ones do. The Vmedia app itself is flaky. It needs to be shutdown and reopened to work properly for most new viewing sessions. ### 1/5 — Update Fail *2024-07-13, version 1.14.8* A new update came out today, the 16th of June, and no longer works on any devices in my house. The app sits for a while before opening, then says no data on the guide. Felt like it was 2017 again when Vmedia was messing around with the Apple os and constantly made the experience worse. ### 1/5 — Not happy *2024-07-08, version 1.14.8* I have been with VMedia for some time now and had no problems until 2months ago. I am disconnected all the time. Was sent a new modem but the problem is getting worse . Right now I am trying to watch a football game and I ant get the VMedia to work on my tv and the remote is garbage keeps kicking me to Netflix or tube. I am now forced to watch my phone. I have called in so many times, on hold all the time , calls are always more than an hour. I guess my older router (about 6 yrs old) could handle the bandwidth and I couldn’t get any channels to work. When I loaded the app with my new router installed, boom everything works great! So beware you will need a decent router to have a good experience. This was my previous review: Doesn’t stream anything even when I signed in. Shows a play button that’s crossed out and has never worked on my iPad. Waste of time.
