Wastes a lot of time. Voalte works less than 50% of the time, more like 30% ### 1/5 — No significant updates *2025-09-28, version 4.2.10* I’ve begged these guys for “wins”such as : Night mode Search text Forward text Covering doc They never make simple improvements 1.5 years later so no updates ### 1/5 — Difficult to use *2025-09-22, version 4.2.10* User interface is confusing; not clear how I can respond to messages sent through the system ### 1/5 — Terrible system *2025-08-24* This is an absolutely useless app. When we started out using it 10-ish years ago, it was sort of functional, but over the past two years it has gotten progressively worse to the current situation where nursing staff can’t call me thru Voalte because all of a sudden the VoalteMe doesn’t pick up my talking on incoming calls. If I call THEM in VoalteMe, everything works fine. If I call anyone else thru my normal cell service, everything is fine. Thank goodness we are ridding ourselves of this garbage app in the next year ### 1/5 — Terrible *2025-08-10, version 4.2.10* This app would be good if it worked. Instead it’s laggy and buggy like it belongs in the early 2000’s. Lacks basic modern messaging features. Unreliable. They have made zero QOL improvements since I starting using the app 2 years ago. ### 1/5 — Horrible *2025-04-08* If there was anyway we did not have to use Voalte (only option currently at our institution, but looking into others now) none of us would. It is dangerously slow and inefficient. It will not show providers who are online/available when you search their name, it will crash frequently while writing a long message, it takes *minutes* just to send a brief message, and we’ve had to delete the app and redownload it many times when it won’t let us log in. Can’t add or remove people from group chat. Takes 30 seconds to search for any user. Absolutely the worst. ### 3/5 — Enable Background App Refresh *2024-12-27, version 4.2.10* The app keeps telling me to enable background app refresh and when I click it and go to settings, it is already on and grayed out so I can’t do anything with it anyway. ### 1/5 — Wait…wait…wait *2024-10-23* When it’s time to make important decisions about your health, you don’t want your care team using this. You have to be able to spell the first and last name of the people you are messaging. People get left out. It doesn’t know who you work with, so it doesn’t learn people’s names and save them for you for later. You have to create manual lists and then save them in a multi step process. It can take up to a full minute for someone’s name to load. The circle just keeps on circling for you to wait…wait…wait…wait… Messages are often delivered hours after they are sent, leading to dangerous lapses in communication. Autoconfiguration often doesn’t work, and it tells you to contact administrator. You can’t be logged into this on a computer and a cell phone at the same time. Terrible, terrible app. ### 3/5 — Am deleting app for simple reason interrupts me *2024-10-14* Have not used extensively but am going to delete. I have notifications turned off on my phone to save battery life. This app CONSTANTLY SEVERAL TIMES A DAY sends a notification to please activate background notifications. I do not want to and need a way to turn off this notification. For an app that I only want to turn on notifications when I am on call I am constantly interrupted with this notification. Please fix!! ### 1/5 — Buggy and clunky *2024-10-09, version 4.2.10* Pros. HIPA compliant (so I’m told), enables personal cell phone (IOS, Android) to interface with my hospital’s Voalte network while on and off the campus. Cons. (1) Often does not load and gives the “pinwheel of death” ever stuck in autoconfigure mode at start up; (2) extremely clunky requiring multiple keystrokes for basic functions or have to start over (e.g., midway through a text and want to add a user … nope, gotta start over and first select “group”); (3) no way to add users in a group text as a “cc” or “bc” such that is is unclear who is the intended action person and others simply being copied; (4) cannot copy text from Voalte into mobile phone notes (eg, person Voalte texts say their mobile number, cannot copy paste, instead must manually transcribe … silly); (5) Voalte will not indicate when recipients of a group text has read the text requiring unnecessary follow up to ensure the recipients are aware of the text; (6) there’s a lot more but you get the idea - the developer lacks competition to ensure a better product so this is what we are stuck with. ### 1/5 — Worse than paging *2024-09-07, version 4.2.10* Somehow they managed to make the pager, ear piercing beeping followed by display of a 9 digit phone number, pleasantly nostalgic. Do you remember when technologic progress was a positive thing (eg horse/buggy to EV?) Voalte is what would result from if the devil invented a messaging system by committee with Mephistopheles. Most of my colleagues avoid it. Open app, wait 4 seconds for message to appear. Fix lag please! Also random reconnect pauses and mismatched message counter. Last please bring Apple Watch function so we can see messages without a phone. ### 2/5 — Needs Saved Sign-In Profiles *2024-06-13* Our anesthesia providers must consistently select a dozen locations from a long list every time they sign into Voalte. We’ve had many instances of communication breakdown because a user hasn’t “signed on correctly”. Why not allow users to create sign-in profiles that save roles, locations, rooms, and teams and allow users to modify as needed? Having multiple saved profiles to choose between would be especially helpful for us. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Just bad *2026-08-03, version 4.3.8* It’s just a bad messaging app. How do you not have a functional spell check in a messaging app? ### 1/5 — Continued bugs *2026-07-08, version 4.3.8* Of the many bugs the lastest I was reminded of is that voalte tries to give you a notification that you were logged out of the app (e.g. if you logged in on your computer instead). However, it does not make the warning Bell until you reopen the app to log back in on your phone. You can be logged out of your phone for hours and not realize it with no warning. Also, why can’t you be logged in on your phone computer at the same time – – who the heck knows. ### 1/5 — Worst app known to man *2026-06-04, version 4.3.8* How do I give 0 stars? Maybe copy that and report back ### 1/5 — Am & PM ??!??? *2026-04-17, version 4.3.1* App is supposed to be used in medical settings; yet doesn’t use 24:00 time — less safe for patients ### 1/5 — Awful *2026-03-12, version 4.3.1* Is this app made by elementary aged devs? ### 1/5 — Please do something about this app *2026-03-12* as a physician i have used voalte for the past 3 years in the inpatient setting and it is truly the worst messaging app to ever exist. the server stability is awful, we will be unable to use the app for 6+ hours at a time and it freezes all communication between doctors, RNs, pharmacists, case management, social workers, EVERYONE. this happened twice this week alone. it is useless sometimes and even when it is working “well,” the lag times to load, log in, etc are incredibly frustrating when we rely on voalte to take care of time sensitive tasks and communication. please improve the server stability, it is unacceptable to have this service completely non-functional for so long and so frequently in a hospital setting ### 1/5 — Slow and poor search features *2026-02-12* I am a physician who uses Voalte me every day for clinical care. The search feature is awful, when you type a name in to find someone it takes ages to load and often doesn’t find the person even when you spell it correctly. The app frequently gets stuck loading when you open it. In general, it is slow and clunky requiring frequent closing and reopening. Unfortunately none of this has improved over the 3 years our hospital has been using it. I would not recommend this for hospitals and I wish the Voalte developers would improve the app, because we are now stuck with it. Inability to customize alert sounds (unsafe for overnight call) This app makes me wish my institution had epic chat… ### 1/5 — Poor Audible Notifications and Text Delivery *2025-11-05, version 4.3.1* Updated to iOS 26 and I only get audible alerts from Voalte Me if my IPhone 14 Pro is UNLOCKED. I’m not leaving my phone unlocked. Also when texting providers text delivery is significantly delayed.
