HOW IT WORKS: 
1. Click "Play" to start.  
2. Write a sentence that illustrates your understanding of the word presented. You have 2 options here: 
    a) No clue about the word?  Click "Skip" or "Learn".   "Skip" will present another word, while "Learn" will help you learn the details such as parts of speech, definition and sample usage.
    b) Otherwise, focus on showing how the word should be used grammatically and contextually in the sentence. Nuances are important as most people who just rote memorize do not get those details.  
3. Click "Submit" after you have written a sentence.  We will give you real-time feedback including scores and a full explanation.  
4. Choose to "Learn" the word more, including parts of speech, definition and sample usage, or "Continue" to practice another word.  
5. Click "Dashboard" to see your progress on New, Learning and Learned words.  The goal here is to help you plan for future learning sessions. 
6. (Optional) Upload your custom word list if you think certain words are just not sticking. 

MOTIVATION: 
The app design was motivated by the groundbreaking research of Craik & Tulving (1975), which showed that deeper, semantic-level processing significantly improves memory retention, this app helps students expand and retain their vocabulary more effectively than any memorization-based tools. Through meaning-based sentence creation, daily practice, and intelligent progress tracking, learners engage with words in a way that truly sticks.  Furthermore, whether you're on the bus or between classes, you can expand your vocabulary on-the-go, without the pain of memorization and the fear of regression!  When combined with routine practice and diligent progress learning management, we believe that anyone can build up their vocabulary competency faster and more efficiently!
