### 4/5 — Strengthen vocabulary

*2026-06-10, version 3.0.3*

This app is really good for vocabulary building and review.

### 2/5 — Miss information

*2026-06-08, version 3.0.3*

Some of the vocab words seem to be mislabeled, incorrectly defined, or have multiple meanings that could make more than one answer correct. It would be helpful if there were a “all of the above” option or a way to accept multiple answers as correct. It’s frustrating to get answers incorrectly when the answer selected can also be correct. This can make the experience very obnoxious, and is somewhat misleading.

### 2/5 — Limited benefits

*2026-06-02*

This app is a great refresher for native English speakers who want to expand or polish their vocabulary. The interface is simple, engaging, and effective for reinforcing word meanings.

However, I would be cautious about recommending it to people who are learning English as a second language or who lack confidence in their language skills. Throughout the exercises, the app often presents a single word and asks users to select the correct meaning from multiple options. The problem is that many English words have multiple legitimate meanings depending on the context in which they are used.

For example, the word “resolve” can mean to determine or decide, which is the answer accepted by the app, but it can also mean to solve a problem or dispute. Without a sentence or contextual clue, several answer choices may appear equally correct. This can create confusion and potentially reinforce the idea that alternative valid meanings are incorrect.

The app works well as a vocabulary refresher when you already have a solid grasp of English, but learners may benefit more from a platform that teaches words within sentences and real-world contexts rather than relying solely on isolated definitions.

### 3/5 — tonny

*2026-05-14, version 3.0.3*

Its really helpful to learn new vocabulary

### 3/5 — No updates

*2026-05-07*

This app has a lot of potential but gets no updates. Some words definitions also need revision. Overall with some work it could be a great app.

### 3/5 — Good

*2026-03-20, version 3.0.3*

It’s good but I wish that it gave you actual definitions and not only examples because I REALLY need to improve my vocabulary. So…. 3 stars

### 4/5 — Peas

*2026-03-12, version 3.0.3*

Verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry gooooooooooooooooooooooooddddd

### 5/5 — SIMPLE AND EXTREMELY USEFUL

*2026-03-04, version 3.0.3*

I’ve downloaded many vocabulary apps over the years as I am an avid reader and word lover. This app is a testament to efficiency! I use it just about every day and have increased my everyday verbal Rolodex noticeably.

### 5/5 — Great way to start your day!

*2026-02-19, version 3.0.3*

I like to test myself every morning. This app is wonderful vocabulary builder! The more words you know the more you’ll grow. Highly recommend and it’s fun.

### 5/5 — Helped on my sat

*2026-02-16, version 3.0.3*

I’m magooshing it

### 4/5 — It’s good

*2026-02-11*

I did learn some words that I still use today (downloaded about two or so years ago) from doing it honestly not even that often. I think my main problem is just that it really does force you to just memorize the exact phrase/synonym you need to associate with each word. And often times, the options will be misleading. I just uninstalled because I got a word where “necessary” and “important” were both two different options for its meaning. It’s just too “exact” I guess.

I also feel like there should be options for more examples and also a learning mode where you can just click through the different words with their definitions not in a quiz-like way.

### 5/5 — Learned lots of words

*2026-02-08, version 3.0.3*

Best lea(r)ning app

### 5/5 — Very good Jon

*2026-01-28*

Very good

### 5/5 — Terrific

*2026-01-27, version 3.0.3*

I generally won’t review apps unless they’re either really good or really bad. This one is remarkable, no ads, no issues, very easy to hone skills on. If I could rate this ten stars I truly would.

### 4/5 — Really good.

*2026-01-17, version 3.0.3*

Good for building vocab, could remake answer chioces more random to make it harder

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — This app is 6 years old and it’s out dated

*2026-06-18, version 3.0.3*

Like with Chat they definitely can write a better iOS app. Some of the sounding for flash cards does not work.

### 1/5 — Started out okay, but…

*2026-02-22*

Started out okay, but at higher vocabulary levels two issues made the app disappointing (note: referencing both Webster’s and Oxford)

1) A number of their definitions are actually incorrect or inaccurate.
2) A number of words show two correct options but you are forced to only one, and it is often the more obscure one.

### 1/5 — Continuous loops

*2026-02-02, version 3.0.3*

Keeps asking the same word 8-9 times even if u get it right (says review)or wrong(says you got it wrong last time) . It’s irritating.

### 1/5 — This app has issues.

*2025-01-03, version 3.0.3*

I've seen other reviews mentioning this, but this app seems pretty old and outdated as well as straight up wrong. I've found many situations where I am BAMBOOZLED as the words are given without a supporting sentence, and therefore reinforcing a certain meaning in your head that isn't applicable for many or even most situations. For example they define "decline" as meaning "say no to" which is correct when used in the sentence "You can always decline a request politely." HOWEVER there is another meaning to decline, "move downwards" like used in the sentence, "He did a decline bench press." I'M REALLY HAVING TROUBLE THINKING WHO SHOULD ACTUALLY USE THIS APP.

### 1/5 — Not as fun as I thought

*2024-11-12, version 3.0.3*

My dad made me do it and I did not like it

### 1/5 — Complementary Means Free

*2023-10-11, version 3.0.3*

This is just one of many words I’ve noticed are incorrect or have a double meaning. Even the description clearly expresses the “wrong” answer. If “red wine is complementary with the beef” then I’d assume it comes with the beef. I don’t know anyone who would hear this word and not immediately assumed FREE. For example, “Valet at the hotel is complementary” does NOT mean “valet goes well with the hotel” it means it’s FREE. Either change the word or have multiple correct answers before I reinstall.

### 1/5 — can’t be used

*2021-07-17, version 3.0.3*

I have purchased this for my daughter, but it totally doesn’t work, when you open it, there’s half black screen and half green color, nothing else, I turned my ipad on and off ,tried many times and updated my ipad, but it still not working! Rubbish!

### 1/5 — Charged

*2018-11-25, version 3.0.0*

I just got charged 9.99 for this app when it said it was free...

### 2/5 — Dumb

*2026-07-30, version 3.0.3*

This app kinda sucks. It’s the only vocab app I’ve found so far where I don’t have to pay for a subscription but it’s not as good as the other ones. The definitions aren’t very clear. It just shows you a synonym and then uses it in a sentence. I wish there was an actual definition under it. It would make learning them so much easier

### 2/5 — One word answers and multiple correct answers

*2026-07-26*

There are one-word descriptions of words. You can’t possibly accurately describe every word doing this. The definitions/answers need to be more elaborate and concise with more words.

Also, lot of these words seem like have more than one answer because the word is multifaceted. It’s like some of these are “trick questions.”

Some of the words don’t even have the most popular correct definition within the answers. Like the word “resolve” for example. The most popular definition of this word is to provide a solution or ending to something. There was no answer like this, so I felt like the answer “rewrite” was the most accurate to the most popular definition. I then see that the correct answer is to make a decision. Which I guess technically would be correct, but it’s a far less used definition of the word. It makes it feel as if this app was developed by foreign person that doesn’t fully understand English. Why wouldn’t you just include the most popular definition and not include trick words that are too close to that?

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Exactly what I needed

*2026-08-13, version 3.0.3*

I need a lot of improvement in my vocabulary and this has been so helpful in explaining the definition and they bring up the word a few times even after getting it right to make sure you actually learned the meaning

### 5/5 — A very cool app

*2026-04-12, version 3.0.3*

The design is very simple. The words presented ARE indeed the ones people struggle with. The review practice is cool, too

### 5/5 — Laudable learning tool

*2026-04-05, version 3.0.3*

I’m always looking to improve my vocabulary, even if it’s just to use extremely specific, fancy-sounding words on academic papers. This is an excellent tool; plus, there are no ads (at least that I’ve seen) which is a rarity for any app today, so I felt compelled to give my endorsement. Thank y’all for making this app and keeping it simple!

### 5/5 — Actually Free

*2026-03-19, version 3.0.3*

This has been helpful for me even starting at high school level, and I have my Masters 😂

Highly recommend!
