Vocera Engage™ Mobile is the smartphone application companion for Vocera Engage™, the next-generation patient alarm safety and event response platform. Vocera Engage Mobile provides a unique user experience optimized for the demands of healthcare delivery. 

Vocera Engage can help you manage clinical alarms and alerts, in coordination with the Vocera Engage Mobile app. You can apply advanced rules within Vocera Engage to filter and rank patient events by urgency. The system then sends only actionable notifications, accompanied by relevant context about the patient, caregiver, and event, to the appropriate care team recipients. Care team members receive the messages on their iOS device using Vocera Engage Mobile app.

### 2/5 — Works but needs more work.

Update: I lowered this review a star since it seems the developers haven't changed a thing. The app feels like it's from 15 years ago. Now my notification bar at the top of the screen is white. How am I supposed to read the time, battery percentage, etc.. If the text is white and the engage app makes the bar white? 

This app needs a dark mode. When on call at night the white screen is blinding even with the brightness set to low. More settings like changing the ringtones to custom ones. An option to disable stat pages on our end would be nice. Also some pages don't come through on the first alert even though I have signal, and then I get a re-alerted notification.

We have it as the standard messaging app for our hospital system. It is a bad app! Crashes frequently and not easy to use.

Developers: I believe this app needs a major overhaul, re: connectivity status, messages not getting delivered right away (status remains “sent”), app is consistently disconnected and “reconnects” each time when you open it. There should be an option to attach files, just like any other IM app. Most importantly: conversations should have a separate section, they should not be mixed in with alerts or paging requests that occupy top of the conversation pane.

I'm a doctor in a 900 bed hospital and it's often difficult to find a nurse given the spread out floor plan. I was very hopeful this app would help. This app does not work well in practice for a few reasons--about 30-40% of the time I don't get a response because of poor adoption. Also, many messages are delayed an hour or more which is really concerning in an ICU setting. When messages are delivered delayed the time stamp reflects when it makes it to your device--not when it is sent. Also, messages don't include the patient name and room number when you contact the nurses or social workers even when you access the recipient through the patient's name. Basically a huge step down from regular text messages--engage 5 does not have a monopoly on encrypted messaging.
