### 4/5 — Anybody there?

*2025-06-17*

This app has got so much potential 🥺

**Developer response:** Hi Eduardo, we're here and would love to know your thoughts. Can you email info@vocularapp.com please

### 2/5 — Inaccurate

*2022-12-10, version 1.2.6*

How is this app telling I sound like James Cordon AND Clint Eastwood?

### 3/5 — Wish they had more celebrities to compare with

*2022-06-04*

Really cool app, they need more celebrities to compare though! Hope they plan on adding more

### 3/5 — Not Bad

*2022-04-03*

I would give it a higher rating as it has made me aware of when I am speaking with too much vocal fry, but I find that the vocal range tends to be inaccurate. I am a woman who has a tenor speaking voice, yet the app will at times claim I have a contralto speaking voice. I know our tones in voice changes at times, but what I don’t like about this, is that it’s confusing. Even when I am speaking in my natural low voice, and not softening it up, I will still get a contralto. It may not seem like this matters, but I would like some accuracy. Other than that, the app is good if you want to practice sounding better.

### 4/5 — Excellent app missing one crucial feature

*2022-02-02*

I absolutely love this app. The features and analysis are excellent, and the quality of the recordings is one of the best I’ve seen on the iPhone. However, the only thing holding back what would otherwise be a perfect 5 star app is the lack of ability to export the recordings. Please add this feature!

### 3/5 — Neat

*2021-04-03, version 1.2.3*

Neat app, but I am not sure how accurate it is. I am a coloratura soprano and this app classified me as a tenor lol.

### 2/5 — App doesn’t work

*2020-07-06, version 1.2.0*

I was recording Samuel L Jackson and the app detected Oprah Winfrey ... Seriously 🤣🤣🤣.

### 5/5 — Very interesting

*2020-03-31, version 1.2.0*

A lot interesting things to learn here. If you like to analyze stuff this is a pretty neat way to observe your voice

### 3/5 — Interesting concept

*2020-02-09*

I really like the app and what it does but sometimes on the actual recording part it gets stuck. I don’t think it’s my microphone but I close and restart and have no way of actually fixing it. Other than that the charts and seeing celebs voice charts are pretty cool. I just wish I didn’t have to hope it’s gonna work today or not.

### 3/5 — Needs calibration

*2019-11-07*

The app consistently thinks my voice is “extremely deep”, even though my voice is actually higher pitched than most people’s voices are. Certainly it’s very flattering that an app thinks my voice is “extremely” deep, however it couldn’t be further from reality. There is clearly something wrong with the algorithm used to detect voice depth, which defeats the whole purpose of the app.

**Developer response:** Hello there, would you mind sending me a screenshot to james@vocularapp.com so I can fix this problem? I’m thinking the analysis might not be filtering out your vocal fry the right way. Thanks, James

### 2/5 — Great concept but totally ridiculous results for me

*2019-11-02, version 1.2.0*

It’s a good concept for what it’s about. The results I got couldn’t be farther than reality because people tell me that I have a really deep voice. Some people I’ve talked to for the first time were surprised kind of deep.

This app, however, said I was most relatable to Jonah hill?????
If i sounds like Jonah hill than Leonard Cohen sounds like a 5 year old girl because if anybody that knows me saw that I sounded like Jonah hill, they would scoff 100% guarantee

But like I said, it works great for some people as you can see by other reviews but if you have a deep voice, you might be compared to a female singer.

### 5/5 — Great!

*2019-10-09*

I was skeptical at first but this app definitely surprised me! It gives you plenty of accurate info about your voice and there is no other app like it. I hope they add new features in the future to help you develop the voice you want.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not worth it. Just analyses your voice nothing beyond that

*2025-06-24, version 1.2.6*

I thought it was going to help me train.

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2024-05-16*

It’s fake advertising doesn't even recognize the celebs voice the says it does …….!!!!!!!

### 1/5 — Don’t purchase!

*2023-01-19*

Not useful at all, the description stated that there is an upgraded version, with lessons on how to improve range. There is not.

### 1/5 — You’re a fart

*2020-11-27, version 1.2.0*

Queen Elizabeth II Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Katy Perry Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha
Yo seriously this is the biggest waste of time and energy EVER
The comments inside the app are ridiculous!Who’s probably some young adults boys between the age of 10 and 20 who may be insecure now have to worry about sounding like some a weirdo asking questions such as “is it normal for me to sound like this ?””is this how I am supposed to sound?”🥸Everyone your voice is beautiful no matter what it sounds like unless you sound like Toby from The Office...Then again screw it you can sound like Toby if that’s what you sound like there is nobody on this planet who can tell you your voices and beautiful and perfect exactly the way it is and to the developer dude I know what you’re doing

### 1/5 — Buggy App

*2020-10-14, version 1.2.0*

App is vert unresponsive and hangs when recording. Does not stop when I tap. Waste of money.

### 1/5 — Rip off ! Want money back !! Does not record voice from headset call.

*2020-02-01, version 1.2.0*

App does not work as advertised.

### 1/5 — Strictly useless

*2019-12-08*

Noway to use a celebrity’s voice with your text!
Badly advertised, i do not recommend

**Developer response:** Hi Escaf, I'm sorry this didn't meet your expectations? I would like to know what you thought the app did though, so we could maybe make things clearer. To my understanding, it's obvious that the app tells you how deep your voice is, how varied or monotone it is, how much vocal fry you speak with and which celebrities your voice depth is most similar to. Is your problem that you can't play the celebrity samples though? I'm confused...

### 1/5 — It didn’t work at all

*2019-10-10*

The app has access to my microphone and could not pick up any of my voice at all.

And it gave no indication of not detecting my voice. Here, just take my money, I guess. You’re welcome.

**Developer response:** Hello Heisenburg, this is a really strange one since I've not known this error on iOS before and all devices should be more or less the same. Is it still acting like this? Could you email me at james@vocularapp.com and we'll do our best to diagnose and fix the issue. Thanks

### 1/5 — Awful - little more than a voice recorder.

*2019-03-15, version 1.2.0*

I’ll be applying for a refund from Apple. I’ve been on the App Store since the original iPhone, and this is the first app I’ll be requesting a refund for. Awful!

### 1/5 — Keeps crashing

*2018-01-07, version 1.2.0*

Not worth the fee as it keeps crashing. Nice try but no cigar.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Helped me deepen my voice

*2025-01-07*

This app helped me deepen my voice and understand how to make my voice more attractive. It gives you some good “biofeedback” about your voice so that, over time, I’ve been able to figure out how to use my voice to achieve a naturally more masculine sound, which is what I wanted. You can do the same to achieve a more feminine or gender neutral voice if that’s what you prefer. Hope there will be updates with more celebrity voice classifications and other additions, but as is, was worth the price.

### 5/5 — Works well

*2022-03-20*

This app needs an audio recording export/sharing option! Otherwise this is a neat app and I’m looking forward to what cool features the devs are working on for future versions.

### 5/5 — Perfect

*2022-01-11*

Thanks for your app, it really gave myself a little confidence boost, I didn’t know my voice was that deep

### 5/5 — Good stuff

*2021-09-15*

I like that it calculates variance and use of vocal fry, along with all the other metrics such as mean/medium/mode pitch ect.

### 5/5 — Fantastic for £2, does what it says!

*2021-05-22, version 1.2.3*

I did some Googling on voices and found a Quora question to which an answer linked here. Great app for the price, more in depth than I thought it might be. Does it it says, not much else to say!

### 5/5 — Amazing app

*2020-11-10*

I absolutely love this app, it’s great for improving your voice! I have nothing bad to say about it, but I would love if the celebrity’s had small audio samples of their voice for you to listen to, but other than that, great app.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2020-10-30*

I purchased it as people always say my voice is deep or that I sound like X Y or Z, but I’ve always thought they were just messing with me or wrong. With this app, I’m able to see in detail who I actually sound like from an objective standpoint, so it’s interesting to use as it lets you hear what your voice actually sounds like to other people. My only request would be to view the categories for everything. (IE It says “Deep/Extremely Deep/etc.”, it would be nice to have the ability to click the text and see where that stands in the list of pitches/rankings.)

### 5/5 — A great used and fun App

*2020-10-27*

You need this in your life. It is impressive. Highly recommend it

### 5/5 — Great

*2020-06-24, version 1.2.0*

I got 94hz at 14 years old

### 5/5 — Nice App

*2020-04-12*

It’s good to use Vocular. Also it will be very useful for users if it also has content relate to how to improve voice, some tips, exercise and others in this aspect.

It’s a nice to have feature for many users I guess.

Thanks,
Ajay Babu Singineedi
