### 4/5 — Maybe a bug?

*2026-05-07*

While the game has its flaws, it’s still a great experience. I’ve completed the main story and found all hidden locations and events, but I simply cannot unlock the 'Smashing Machine: Destroy 600 Objects' achievement. I suspect there might be a bug or something? Or I simply didn’t destroy objects enough? It’s stuck at 99% forever. I would appreciate it if the developers could look into it. Thank you!

**Developer response:** I’ve updated the game and fixed the achievement completion issue in version 1.0.7.

I hope this version solves your problems as well. If you still have any issues with achievement progress or completion, please send me an email.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

### 5/5 — UNDERRATED!!!!

*2026-03-20, version 1.0.6*

DUDE! This game is definitely underrated! I played this game for like HOURSSSSS! It’s definitely worth the money, and actually, a game
like this should be sold no less than $10 honestly.
Tebrikler Alper! Lutfen daha fazla oyunlar yap bunun gibi:)

### 5/5 — Sehr cool

*2026-03-19*

Endlich mal wieder ein gelungenes Spiel im Store. Gutes Handling, schicke Grafik, fairer Preis - alles richtig gemacht! Da kann man bedenkenlos zuschlagen!

### 4/5 — Great game

*2026-03-19, version 1.0.6*

Really enjoyed the play through on this game. Once you get used to the controls, it’s a great metroidvania. I hope you make a sequel!

### 5/5 — Wonderful little game,

*2026-03-12, version 1.0.6*

Wonderful little game! Lovely graphics and fun mechanics.

### 5/5 — Best Game of 2026

*2026-03-10, version 1.0.6*

I have never played a game that makes you doubt yourself in every decision you make. I love this game so much. Please make a sequel!

### 4/5 — Wonderful little game, WARNING: NO CLOUD SAVE

*2026-03-09*

Wonderful little game! Lovely graphics and fun mechanics. I’m going to wait for an update. Once I know the boss battles have been addressed I’ll happily play more and update my score.

### 5/5 — a refresher

*2026-03-09, version 1.0.6*

classic arcade game, such a refresh. I enjoyed it!
wish we had “tv lines” (CRT tv overlay) option.
same for Sword of Xolan.

### 5/5 — Clever game, lots of revisiting levels to collect items and finish quests.

*2026-03-08*

I enjoyed playing through the game. Cleared all the levels, side quests, and everything at 100%. Got all the achievements possible. I enjoyed it. Game play took about 37 hours in total over a few weeks. One the one hand, I enjoyed the game, but I don’t know that I would replay it right away, so I’m not sure if the value was worth the price.

I also thought the villagers should have changed their script a little once the villain was defeated, or at least once the magicians were all freed.

Like “Thank you for freeing us from the evil that threatened our island…” a little confetti or something.

### 5/5 — Super platformer

*2026-03-07*

Really good game - easy to get into and good controls. Was apprehensive about paying £4.99 for the game but am well pleased.
If you are unsure I would suggest you try the authors other games for 0.99p to see the lovely quality of the games before purchasing this one.

### 5/5 — Fun and long

*2026-03-07*

This is a fun game. I put about 20 hours in it and got about 99% completion.

### 4/5 — Wonderful little game, looks better in motion, fun mechanics. Waiting for boss fight fixes.

Wonderful little game! Lovely graphics and fun mechanics. I’m going to wait for an update. Once I know the boss battles have been addressed I’ll happily play more and update my score.

### 5/5 — Super Fun!!

*2026-03-04, version 1.0.5*

I’ve been really enjoying this game!

### 4/5 — Fun

*2026-02-27*

Super fun game, definitely worth the money. If pins were added for the map and areas weren’t marked as completed with stuff still in them it would be perfect. I sadly did everything in the game and missed one spell, no idea where it is and I’m not running through the whole game looking for it so I’m sadly missing out on 2 achievements.

### 4/5 — Way better than expected

*2026-02-27, version 1.0.5*

I like that it’s simple and not over complicated although I like hard games this is a good one to kick back to and enjoy. The fetch quest is the only part I don’t like but besides that I’m having a good time play. Also I’d like to find that damn double jump lol

### 5/5 — Very fun metroidvania

*2026-02-26*

Having this on my phone makes me feel like a kid with a gameboy in my pocket.
Very nice pixel art, well tuned movement. Most of the game provides a comfortable challenge without relying on gimmicks.
This game does everything a metroidvania should quite well. There's a fun variety to the loot and puzzles I'm always excited to explore a new room.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Too hard, one unfair difficulty spike after another, still so after 1.0.6

*2026-03-08, version 1.0.6*

I wanted to like it. I deleted and gave it a second chance then gave up at the floating eye boss that other reviewers have named as a game breaker; tried again, finally beat that thing, then nearly rage quit at the lose your powers maze chase, which is Battletoads NES-level unfair to the point that one star is warranted. Then come Quick Man beams in the abandoned temple, where perfectly timed jumps and wall climbs on glass controls are required, followed by a clone of Castlevania Death but armed with aforesaid Quick Beam. I beat him, found out it’s a her, and now my thumbs are sore.

Did any of that sound… fun?
Now do it with wind blowing you into spikes. Then there’s the last? dungeon where even the carpet is spikes sharp enough to cramp your hands. (The 5 star reviewers apparently don’t have hands.)

It’s just too hard. The first problem is that the player does not have enough HP. This is still so after the 1.0.6 update which barely changed HP (only by fixing the broken Life Bond upgrade). Compare the HP pool to any other Metroidvania and you’ll see how unbalanced this game is. Samus has 20 energy tanks and multiple armor, Alucard has thousands of HP and stacks of food, armor and potions, and even Dandara has a Zelda heart container stack and multiple healing items. Vohenn has 115 HP max, 0 defense and one herb. You lose a quarter of your maxed out HP, or more, on taking hits in the last couple of dungeons. That is insane.

Also, the sword weapon is severely underpowered. Trying to upgrade it is a waste of XP and money. Just focus on magic and hope you can get to the town, then upgrade your first spell and use that as your weapon. Pretend it’s Mega Man, and you are switching between the Fire Man, Air Man and Metal Man weapons. Then it becomes playable and even fun until the difficulty spikes. Of course MP recharges slowly so you will be wasting a lot of time, but the fast charge charm can be upgraded and that helps. (But the player shouldn’t be forced into a mage build like this in order to work around the unfair boss fights.)

Note to developer. XP systems exist to let the player modulate the difficulty but when you are stingy in doling it out, you force grinding and grinding is not fun. And then when the player maxes out and still dies in 3 hits, there is nothing to do but quit. You can see I really put my heart into it, but my hands are about to fall off. Fix the difficulty if you want to go anywhere near mainstream. Thanks.

### 1/5 — Completely unbalanced boss fights

*2026-01-26*

A pretty decent take on a metroidvania but has some major flaws that set it back. The amount of backtracking needed is insane for the game to have no waypoints. Some bosses are also very overtuned and poorly designed

Edit: after reaching some of the later levels wow is there so terribly designed stuff there. Floating eyeball is the one of the worst bosses I've ever seen in a game. Huge health pool, lock on tracking attacks with 80% of the room a spike pit. Yeah just incredibly bad

**Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback. I understand your frustration and I’m actively improving gameplay and balance based on player input.

Compare the HP pool to any other Metroidvania and you’ll see how unbalanced this is. The sword weapon is severely underpowered. Trying to upgrade it is a waste. There is a samurai rabbit boss that is basically impossible to kill with the sword and that was the blocker. Just focus on magic and hope you can get to the town, then upgrade your first spell and use that as your weapon. Of course MP recharges slowly so you will be wasting a lot of time. This is a lesson in why indie games need QA. XP systems exist to let the player modulate the difficulty but when you are stingy in doling it out, you force grinding and grinding is not fun.

### 2/5 — Not a fake review. I'm sure a sequel would be much better. If they could upgrade a few things.

-⭐️ unfortunately the craters have a lot to learn about maps. Maps are what made Final Fantasy three and pretty much created the entire franchise. Without them it would've not gotten where it is. Maps have to be fun, exciting interesting and explorative and maybe even a bit of an adventure on their own. This just looks like someone plopped some villages on a map.. with no intention of creating an actual world to explore or making it fun in anyway. They're just doing it because other games do. Always disappointing when I see this.

-⭐️ because weapons are pointless. I've gotten the first four weapons and I have to say I barely use them. I'm still stuck using the same old magic. Very boring whoever made. This is just making them I guess for the hell of it? The tornado could you know maybe be useful one percent of the time? What is the point of doing all this hard work I need to get weapons I don't need or use.

-⭐️ also why am I getting money? Why am I going after this extra gold or whatever they call it in the game. What am I gonna spend it on? It feels pointless.

-.25⭐️ the character is just kind of tiny and it makes it feel less exciting. It's like I'm using some kind of cartoon character who doesn't even have legs. There's nothing fun about it. This is more of an artistic thing, but when I'm looking at Samus, for example she seems to be flexible and fun and strong. So it makes you feel strong and excited and she can also turn into a ball. This character looks like it was a bobble head runt. No offense it's kind of cute but it doesn't make for a fun or exciting game.

+ 1⭐️ the music is ok. I've still wouldn't say it's five stars but it's enjoyable. Some of the songs aren't mastered or mixed that well they're kind of bland and crushed down (like your average cheap music track). But I can tell the music changes tracks at least which is something I can't even expect from most games. It supports the overall vibe which is the best part of this game.

+1⭐️ great overall vibe and feel. The look and feel of the game is well done the gameplay as well done. The exploration is well done.

### 2/5 — A lot of promise and fun when it doesn’t crash

*2026-01-27, version 1.0.2*

Playing on an iPad Pro and the game froze and crashed my iPad 4 times in 20 minutes.

### 2/5 — Fun but with flaws

*2026-01-24*

### 2/5 — Freezing and losing progress

*2026-01-23*

Freezing and all progress is lost. Screen frozen, but sounds of movement continue. Using a bluetooth controller. Will update review if issue is fixed…

**Developer response:** I’m really sorry you experienced this issue. Could you please email me with more details, including your device model, Bluetooth controller model, and any screenshots or videos if possible? This will help me investigate and fix the problem. Thank you.

### 3/5 — Great game

*2026-02-09*

Love the animations and the textures I’m getting into pixel art myself and these pixels are amazing

**Developer response:** Thanks a lot for the kind words about the pixel art, that really made me smile.
I’m just curious, what made it a 3-star rating? Was it the gameplay or something else?

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Nice

*2026-07-27*

Keine Ahnung, warum das Game so unbekannt ist, hab“s mit Controller gespielt, das macht noch mehr Spaß.

### 5/5 — Amazing Game

*2026-06-14, version 1.0.7*

Amazing game, fun, and time consuming. I would love to play a second version. A Vohenn 2 would be great.

### 5/5 — Fantastisch

*2026-06-13*

Unglaublich Stimmungsvoll und sehr gut Spielbar, absolut Empfehlenswert !!!!

### 5/5 — Great game

*2026-05-07*

I haven’t played much but just from the intro it looks awesome

### 5/5 — Fun Game

*2026-05-03*

Played with a Backbone controller, felt almost like playing a classic console game.

Really enjoyed ‘Sword of Xolan’ back when that first came out so bought this game without hesitation and wasn’t disappointed at all.
I have recommended both to friends to check out.

Navigating the menus, selecting and confirming things with buttons was sometimes confusing, sometimes A was required and sometimes X and sometimes Y. I got used to it but at times it took some time to sort out which button to push in each situation. Otherwise the controls felt really good.

There are some grammatical errors here and there, but I felt they had minimal impact on my enjoyment of the gameplay.

There are so many spells and abilities to find and upgrade, which makes me really hope to see an expansion pack or more challenges that make specific use of them in the future.

Can’t wait for the sequel.

### 5/5 — Wow

*2026-05-01, version 1.0.6*

Great game. Thanks Dev.

### 5/5 — Great Game

*2026-04-28, version 1.0.6*

Love the art style and story

### 5/5 — LOVED this BUT

*2026-04-21*

So first off, I would say my actual rating is something like 4.75/5. A few small things I think need adjusted to make this truly an all time great. Other than those things which I won’t mention here as to not spoil anything, this game is a lot of fun! At the time of writing this I’m at 97% completion of my first run. I have an 12 hour travel day at the end of May and this game will get me through it.

### 5/5 — Worth it

*2026-04-19*

Not even 50% through the game and it’s been worth the money spent. No micro transactions. No over complicated explanations. Simple fun. I enjoy it. Glad I bought it. Worth more than purchase price.

### 5/5 — Great game!

*2026-04-13*

I’ve loved every minute of this game and hope the developer makes a sequel! The attention to detail is incredible and reminds me of older games from the 90’s. If you love Metroid-like games you’ll love this one! Worth every penny and then some!
