## What is Voice Writer?

Voice Writer turns spoken thoughts into writing you can review, refine, and make your own.

Capture a note, an email, or a first draft. Watch your words appear while you speak, keep the original transcript, and choose how the finished text should sound.

SPEAK, THEN MAKE IT YOURS

- Live transcription, a waveform, and elapsed time while recording.
- A protected original transcript and an editable working copy.
- Writing Style controls for cleanup, translation, tone, length, layout, punctuation, and capitalization. Choices save automatically. Style changes apply with Full cleanup.
- Optional refinement through your own Apple Shortcut and its configured model, or on-device Apple Intelligence where supported and available.
- Review, Copy, and Share for the result you choose.

WRITE WHERE YOU ARE

Start and stop with the supplied Voice Writer Shortcut using the Action Button or another supported system trigger. The optional Voice Writer keyboard displays recording progress and receives validated results. It never opens the microphone and has no recording controls.

Automatic insertion is limited to an eligible, unchanged field and a validated single-line result. Multi-line Shortcut results are copied with their formatting. If delivery cannot be verified, your writing stays available for protected Review. Voice Writer never presses Return or Send.

Use In-Place Setup to install and verify the supplied Shortcuts. An optional ready-made background refinement Shortcut is also available from setup. In-app recording and review remain available without the keyboard.

YOUR WORDS STAY YOURS

Audio and your recording library stay on your iPhone. Apple speech recognition runs on device for supported languages. Optional Shortcut refinement sends complete transcript text to your chosen model only after your consent and under that provider’s terms.

Voice Writer has no account, subscription, advertising, analytics, or proprietary server. Optional model services have their own availability and terms. Keyboard Full Access is used only for the local status and result bridge; basic typing works without it.

Your latest recording remains until a new recording successfully starts, you delete it, or 30 days after recording. A failed start preserves the previous recording. Its audio, transcript, edits, and results share that retention deadline. Existing older recordings support an explicit export or deletion choice. Exported copies remain under your control.

WHAT YOU NEED

- iOS 26 or later and on-device Apple transcription for your language.
- Apple Shortcuts for optional Shortcut refinement.
- Full Access for optional automatic keyboard insertion.
- A supported iPhone with Apple Intelligence enabled and its model ready for optional on-device refinement. When refinement is unavailable, captured writing remains available for review.
