I do understand that longer files would need more time, but apparently the app only transcribes one or two words. **Developer response:** Hi, thanks for the feedback! It does not function at all. The description said, I will be able to upload audio and have it transcribe, but I was not able to, and I wasted my money, and I did not have it to spend, if I would’ve been able to give it zero stars I would’ve, but I gave it one star ### 1/5 — Does not work *2023-03-16* Program keeps crashing with the following error message. The operation couldn’t be completed. (kAFAssistantErrorDomain error 203.) Using on Mac OS 12.5.1. It does not matter the size of file. Only conclusion is I wasted my money. Good for short texts like every other FREE web service. Workarounds are available using very expensive audio-patching applications such as Loopback or Audio Hijack, and there are extremely expensive transcriptions apps, and 'free' transcriptions apps which use subscription-based models or per-word models of pricing which end up being stupidly expensive in the long run. The solution is obvious: somebody needs to come along and creat an app that uses MacOS's new, built-in transcription services to transcribe files. That is what this app does. How does it compare to Dragon Dictate? Exactly as well as MacOS's dictation services do, which is to say: not so shabby. More importantly, it offers unlimited transcriptions for free, once you pay the up-front cost of the app, which is less than the cost of a Latte, or a mid-range sandwich at a fast food joint. The people who give this app low ratings are clearly comparing it to $300 apps. This is a $4 app that provides unlimited transcriptions of relatively high quality. That earns it 5 stars, easy. ### 5/5 — Positiv überrascht *2022-01-11* Ich habe mit diesem Programm inzwischen über 10 mp3-Dateien mittleren Umfanges (durchschnittlich 20 bis 50 MB) transkribiert. Dies erfolgte erstaunlich schnell. Da vermutlich sämtliche auf dem Markt befindlichen Apps dieselbe Verfahrensweise bei der Transkription nutzen, werden ihre Ergebnisse auch kaum voneinander abweichen. Insofern bin ich bei dieser App zufrieden, was die Genauigkeit betrifft. Deshalb überrascht mich das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis sehr positiv. Einen weiterenPluspunkt stellt der Umstand dar, dass es sich bei dieser Applikation nicht um ein Abo handelt, eine nach meiner Ansicht weit verbreitete Unsitte zum Zweck der Abzocke. Was zu wünschen wäre: der transkribierte Text sollte im Fenster automatisch mit nach unten laufen/scrollen, um den Aktions-Fortschritt besser verfolgen zu können. Ein herzliches Dankeschön an den Entwickler! ### 4/5 — Very usefull and a good value (v1.4) *2021-03-30* Uses Apple's OS built-in voice-to-text capability. Performs well on voice files I exported from screen-recorded videos I created on my Mac using apple wired headset. Not perfect, but did not expect it to be. Provides me with a good starting text file that I then edit. Saves me lots of time manually transcribing voice files, with no online connection needed and no recurring transcription fees. No problem trsnscribing 20minute-long audio files (my longest so far,) which required about 15min30sec to transcribe, not sure what is the max length of the audio file it will transcribe. You can also transcribe on the fly from voice to text without first ctreating an audio file. Not alot of bells and whistles, but a good basic, and very affordable, transcription tool. ### 4/5 — Useful *2020-06-13* When I switched to Mac I lost my favorite dictation software. VoiceExpress however is a decent program and I believe it uses mac's speech recognition so there are definitely errors in the transcription. However, it saves me time from having to sit at the computer and type everything. And no transciption apps are perfect. I just have fix the errors on my document and then it's ready to go. So far I've tested with a twenty minute audio file. I'm hoping it will transcribe at least an hour of playback, but we'll see. But for now it's well worth the money. ### 3/5 — Broken? *2024-10-16* I loved this app while it worked. Excellent and fast transcription powered by Apple’s APIs, delivered on the cheap. Filled the hole created by Apple’s bizarre refusal to transcribe audio files. Unfortunately, it appears to be broken under Sequoia: now, every line it transcribes is deleted before it transcribes the next line. Not very helpful, that. However, Sequoia now offers transcription in its native Voice Memos app, albeit with a clunkier and less useful UI, so as one door closes, another has opened. ### 2/5 — Disappointing *2021-02-08* Only transscifbed about half of the audio file in the blurb I cant seen any resquitrictions If there is a maximum length of audio file it needs to be made clear.
