I personally use it without a keyboard and it is still very very good for me. I wonder if it is possible to add an iOS shortcuts feature so I can start the app in recording mode like ChatGPT “start voice”. I mean I don’t need a chat, I need it to just start with active recording. If that is possible I would also love a shortcut for stopping the recording. Intent for that is to be able to start and stop recordings via shortcuts. Thank you! Keep up the great work. ### 5/5 — Love this app *2025-10-05* It's a bit buggy right now—sometimes the keyboard crashes and I have to force quit the app. That said, I love that it's fully local and I've been enjoying it on my Mac for a while. Just amazing *2025-09-28* This is HANDS DOWN the fastest AI dictation software I’ve ever tried for iPhone and I’ve tried so many iOS apps and this one is by far the best and faster like blown away. Lost ideas and really impact my workflow. I have a 1 TB iPhone with 700 gb free, there is plenty of room. You turn it off and then the app keeps turning it back on as if they're trying to force your data into the cloud. ### 2/5 — Blocked when vpn is ON - EVEN IN LOCAL MODE *2025-12-25* Does noy work when vpn is on. This is very strange : With local model, it shouldnt need acces to intetnet. ### 2/5 — Match the mac version!! *2025-09-27* Bro, this app is way too buggy. The voice recognition doesn't work as well as the one on macOS (it's pretty much a disaster actually and it always convert to english any language even when modifying the enhancement prompts). You don't have enough options to use the app correctly, for instance, Google Gemini 2.0 flash lite API. Also allow to install whisper (the biggest one) - apple won't restrict this download). I don't know why you made these choices... The custom prompts are not equal to the ones that you're using on macOS and even when modified, they don't work as well. Again, I don't know why. I will change 3 stars to 5 stars as soon as you make sure that the iOS app is equal to the macOS app which is soooo good. In the meantime, get back to work, and I'm sure you can upload a new version on the App Store very shortly. Keep up with the good work 💪💪💪 ### 3/5 — App crashes using local models *2026-03-03* As long as we are using the VoiceInk as default, provider app works fine as soon as I switched to the local models like parakeet it crashes ### 3/5 — Apple’s Ai slop ruined it *2026-02-26* Not very intuitive to use. FEB2026 Apple’s Ai slop ruined it, that sums it up. Whatever Apple did with the iOS 12 6.3 that ruined dictation also affects this app. (Apple, stop giving put our personal info.!) If the anyone from the app contacts me I will knock off more stars. ### 3/5 — Good AI bad UX *2026-01-10* Model performance pretty good but ux is not intuitivr ### 4/5 — More local model and a clear quota *2025-10-01* This dictation app is pretty nice, and I think it's better than several competing apps that require a subscription. I believe this approach is ideal because the local model for transcription is already quite powerful. However, I still have three concerns or suggestions. First, there needs to be more local models. The current local model, Parakeet, doesn't seem to work well for multi-language use. Although it's supposed to, it performed poorly for my specific use case, so I hope to see additional local models. Second, it currently shows a percentage usage of its default local model, but the total quota for that isn't clear. Hopefully, this can be clarified. Third, the default local model offers a language selection option. However, the other local model, Parakeet, does not allow me to select the language. Most of the time, it detects the wrong language, which also prevents the corresponding enhancement using an external API key from working. In fact, this entire review was written using this app, which already suggests its high accuracy and quality. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — EXCELLENT *2026-06-12* I’ve owned an iPhone for 5 years this is the first time I’ve EVER wrote a review. This is tool I highly recommend it. I'm doing a lot less typing and a lot more talking and it actually works well. Apple dictation I struggled with for years, and I still struggle with it -- just nowhere near as accurate as VoiceInk. I also compared it to whisper flow and whisper flow is fine, it works but it's a lot more money and it's all cloud based this app respect your privacy ; highly recommended ### 5/5 — Prakash’s AI voice apps are the best on the market *2026-02-28, version 1.15* Superb iOS app. It hasn’t failed me once. The Mac app is equally reliable, accurate and chock full of features. Best AI voice-to-text app on the market, and I’ve tried them all (and I do mean ALL). ### 5/5 — As good as the pay to play apps *2026-02-13* Just as good as the paid AI dictation apps. Love that you can pick your writing style like the pro versions. Dictation is flawless. The only hassle is swiping back from the app to messages to start dictating—sometimes it’s not super sensitive and you need a couple of swipes. That's my only complaint. ★★★★★ Recommend to everyone. Don't waste money on other apps. I'm using it now in chat mode. I love that it handles grammar for me, and I can be more formal with email mode. ### 5/5 — Finally a STT app that supports offline models and doesn’t break. *2026-01-25, version 1.14* I personally do suggest it specially for offline model. It’s super fast. I have an iPhone 17 and I couldn’t find an app which supports Parakeet models and it works.
