## What is Voiceliner?

The fastest way to capture and structure your thoughts: through voice.

Hold record, say what you want, and release. Just like you'd expect from an outliner, create hierarchies and rearrange. Notes are auto-transcribed and searchable, but you can always play back the audio.

Automatically attach location to notes. Remember walks you took, and which places sparked what ideas.

This app is open source and available on GitHub. Everything is local to your device. You can back up to Google Drive and iCloud.

## Key features

- Voice-to-text transcription
- Hierarchical note structuring

### 4/5 — Orgnizing my thought on the go!

*2024-11-17*

I love this app. I don't use it enough. I use logseq PKM to organize my thoughts. Now I can speak my ideas and outline them on the go. Then move them into logseq. Simple. Easy to use.

### 2/5 — Share doesn't work, no iCloud support

*2024-09-08*

The app is great but on my iPad with iPadOS 17, the Share button doesn't do anything. Also, when I export as .md, the exported file is nowhere to be found. Likewise for the Google Drive exports, which I can't find in my Google Drive account.

### 5/5 — An excellent companion app to Obsidian

*2024-05-29, version 1.27.3*

Not only Voiceliner do excellent voice to text transcription, and allow you to organize your thoughts in an outline, but you can export any Voiceliner file to a Markdown .md file which can then be saved in your Obsidian data vault by saving through the Files app. I primarily use this to add to my daily notes or journal in Obsidian. Voiceliner is an invaluable tool for me!

### 1/5 — App keeps crashing

*2023-09-20*

I’m sure it’s a great app but it won’t let me get past the tutorial without crashing.

### 5/5 — Would be great if…

*2023-02-04*

it could do punctuation. Nevertheless, I rated it five stars since it has so much going for it, especially the price!

### 5/5 — Best app ever!

*2022-12-02*

Just a quick one to say thanks to the developer, just discovered this app and I have to say it is brilliant! So useful to be able to quickly record your thoughts and organise them, the fact they are all searchable is absolutely fantastic! Big fan of the app!

### 5/5 — Wen Apple Watch ?

*2022-07-03*

Love it!! Wish I could add notes from my watch tho !!! 🙏🏼

### 5/5 — Pure genius!

*2022-07-01*

If you relate well to outlines, Voiceliner is the ultimate interface for fluid, on-the-fly mind-to-text processing.

### 5/5 — Intuitive and Handy!

*2022-03-15*

Fills a sweet niche in the (ever expanding) space of note taking apps! This is a great fit for on the go note taking. I really like the seamless integration between voice transcription, text notes, and location.

The location is a killer feature IMO, since I often want to go back and retrace the set of steps that led to that thought (and location is a really strong cue).

### 5/5 — Better than voice memos or typing

*2022-01-06*

Voice memos are hard to organize, and writing out thoughts or notes manually doesn’t provide as much flexibility or speed as speaking. Voiceliner is an improvement because it gives me the flexibility and speed of speaking *and* the ability to quickly organize my thoughts. Great idea & implementation 💯
