### 3/5 — Works, but can’t set Caller ID Name

*2026-06-04, version 0.0.6*

The app works well for making and receiving calls. The biggest problem is that you can’t set the Caller ID Name for outgoing calls (it only sends the caller ID number). There is a setting in the app to set Caller ID, but it doesn’t work. I chatted with VOIP.MS support and they said that the app doesn’t support setting Caller ID Name.

### 4/5 — Good for work, some holes in the system though

*2026-04-07, version 0.0.6*

This app works well for business/work communication, however it would be great if you could search for key words in your messages like you can in the iPhone messages app. As well you cannot send outgoing texts/calls when connected to wifi, so adding wifi capability would greatly improve this app.

### 4/5 — Good but rough edges

*2026-01-19, version 0.0.6*

Why do I get 4 copies of the sms messages for some accounts? I can see on the web version just 1 copy so this is definitely app specific.

### 2/5 — Very poor app, ok service

*2026-01-03, version 0.0.6*

This app is unbelievably bad for 2025. The app deregisters you periodically so you miss SMS / calls to your number. The app hijacks audio on the iPhone so that if you force quit or even swipe out of the app, it will pause or stop other audio. That is playing (i.e. podcast). I have used many voip apps on iPhone, and this is probably the worst.

### 3/5 — Paste feature

*2025-12-06, version 0.0.6*

Would be nice to have the ability to paste a phone number from the clipboard

### 2/5 — Stupid that the app doesn’t support encrypted media (SRTP)

*2025-10-05, version 0.0.6*

Was pretty disappointed to find that calling is impossible if you have encrypted media (aka encrypted phone calls) turned on in your VoIP.ms account. The service supports it, but the official soft phone doesn’t. This should be a high-priority feature because the one place where you’d really want to use encrypted media/SRTP is on a soft phone since you’d often be connected to random Wi-Fi networks and such. I would rate higher if not for this big oversight.

### 4/5 — Does require config

*2025-09-28, version 0.0.6*

Took a while to set this up. It says it only needs the basics but that did not work. Go into advanced, select secure and enable “allow sdes over insecure channel”. Supposedly this app does not allow tls yet.
Also I set the callerID value as my DIB and then it showed as registered in the voip.ms website.

Call quality sounds rough.

### 4/5 — CarPlay

*2025-09-05, version 0.0.6*

Could please add the Apple CarPlay functionality for calls and sms

Thank you

### 1/5 — Cannot Configure

*2025-08-22, version 0.0.5*

iOS. Following wiki, no check mark after Step 2. No feedback!

### 3/5 — Reporting Call and SMS as Spam

*2025-08-16, version 0.0.5*

Since the SMS functionality struggles with longer messages but the significant point of frustration is the missing ability to report SMS and calls as spam, which is a feature the app desperately needs.

### 2/5 — Buggy

*2025-07-26, version 1.0*

The app keeps saying an update is needed when it doesn’t. Only supports a single account and does not support TLS.

### 4/5 — Same or Better than Bria

*2025-07-25, version 1.0*

For a free app, I find it has better features than Bria. Texting works well, also. Downside is that it keeps telling me there is an update and takes me to the App Store but no update exists.

### 1/5 — No TLS

*2025-07-24, version 1.0*

Bad initial release. No tls and the app is constantly telling me to update when there’s no update available.

### 2/5 — Not good

*2025-07-21, version 1.0*

Despite it is app from voip.ms you cannot have more than two accounts. It always offer to upgrade, you press upgrade then nothing happens and this repeats again and again.

### 2/5 — Limited options

*2025-07-20, version 1.0*

I was only able to add one of my 8 VoIP accounts, unlike Groundwire and other apps.

It took a while, but I found the settings setup page to delete the account I initially used and to try my other accounts.

Today, it showed up with an update available when I opened the app, but it didn’t download. The App Store doesn’t show an update is available.

Please fix the shortcomings. Thanks!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Useless

*2026-05-09, version 0.0.6*

Completely useless app, good luck even logging in.

### 1/5 — Not prod ready

*2026-04-28, version 0.0.6*

Bad (or broken) UI. Buggy. Always says “unauthorized” (despite the fact I’m using the same working credentials on their website).

App was created 9 months ago and the current version is 0.0.6 so it’s not even production-ready. And it shows. Their app and website looks like tech from 10 years ago.

### 1/5 — App does not work

*2026-03-09, version 0.0.6*

I have texted support 6 times about my app not working they do not respond. They respond three days later and think it’s just a complete joke that you can’t work their app.

### 1/5 — does NOT work as advertised

*2026-02-23, version 0.0.6*

When calling overseas, your Caller ID will show some unknown Eastern European phone number (Lithuania, Czechoslovakia, etc) rather than your registered DID number or other number you set as your caller ID, so pretty much useless.

SMS does not work for a VoIP.ms DID that is supposedly SMS-capable even if enabled on your account to send SMS.

VoIP needs to put out an app that actually works rather than this POS that is obviously just a gimmick. Maybe AI can replace these sad developers.

### 1/5 — Poor

*2026-01-22, version 0.0.6*

It doesn’t work. Any number you try gets an error message.

### 1/5 — Absolute Nightmare: Endless Verification Loop, Data Extraction, and Zero Resolution

*2026-01-17, version 0.0.6*

I've been stuck in absolute limbo with this company for days, and it's one of the most frustrating customer experiences I've ever had.
What started as a simple account signup quickly turned into an endless cycle of document demands, vague responses, and radio silence. I completed their required third-party verification with face recognition and provided accurate info upfront — yet they keep coming back asking for more: a second government ID, utility bills, proof of address, etc. When I explained my legitimate living situation (no traditional utility bill because I live on a family-owned property), they ignored it and just repeated the same demands.
No secure upload portal was ever provided — just vague ticket replies that go nowhere. Every response takes forever , and each one stretches the conversation further without actually moving things forward. It's classic data fishing: keep asking for more sensitive documents while giving zero commitment that anything will actually get approved.
I'm now left hanging indefinitely — account in limbo, money/time & sensitive data wasted, and no clear path to resolution. This isn't verification; it's bureaucratic torture designed to wear people down or harvest as much personal data as possible before ghosting them.
Other VoIP providers handle KYC quickly and transparently. This company? They seem to specialize in dragging things out forever and leaving customers in verification purgatory.

### 1/5 — Does not work

*2026-01-15, version 0.0.6*

Keeps saying unauthorized… tried everything ugh.

### 1/5 — Waste of time!!!

*2026-01-05*

After sending all documents for verification and waiting for 2 weeks - website says 1-2 business days - I emailed support AGAIN, they said I need to send documents for verification. Again?? Really?? 2 weeks?? Representative wasn’t polite too, said if you want to get verified send documents, or we need to close your account. Services like this shouldn’t be on the market. Don’t waste your time!

### 1/5 — Needs a UX designer

*2025-12-14, version 0.0.6*

I’m just trying to enter my username and password. What the hell is a POP server? This app is frustrating, dated, and needs an overhaul to be easier to use.

### 1/5 — No calls in or out

*2025-09-29, version 0.0.6*

I have other softphone that works just fine. With this one I get registered to voip.ms subaccount but cannot make or recieve calls. Tried all setting combinations to no avail. Useless.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2025-09-01, version 0.0.5*

Un très bel outil fourni gratuitement. Pour en avoir essayé d’autres, payants, je peux dire que celui-ci les surpasse.
Merci voip.ms

### 5/5 — There is a Voicemail indicator 😀

*2025-08-13, version 0.0.5*

I’m still new to the app and was discouraged there appeared no voicemail message waiting indicator.

But there is! The voip.ms logo will show a blue badge with number of voicemails and an icon will appear on the lower left of the keypad so you can just tap it and call the voicemail .

Be sure to enter *97 in the sip account Advanced Options in the Voicemail settings.

Though a Push Notification would be great or a voicemail waiting indicator on the icon for the voip.ms app - and not just a badge for missed calls, it is at least good there is a Message Waiting indicator in the app and a quick way to access voicemails.

And SMS works too!

### 5/5 — Best Free VOIP App

*2025-08-02*

I tried Linphone and zoiper. Zoipers free app is broken. Linphone doesn't work right and the UI is bloated.

Zoiper is so bad I actually bought a business SIP phone (great deal, $150 phone for $35 on amazon). I plan on keeping it.

Thank you Voip.ms for your service and app! Canada makes the best products!

### 5/5 — Works !!!

*2025-07-29, version 1.0*

Been waiting for this apps that works with IOS.. so far so good!!!

### 5/5 — merci!!!

*2025-07-29, version 1.0*

enfin on l’a bravo à toute l’équipe

### 5/5 — Seamless Setup, Clear Interface, and Solid Performance

*2025-07-20, version 1.0*

The app works like a dream—very easy to set up with a clean, intuitive interface. It runs smoothly, and the SMS feature works perfectly as well. Just make sure the app stays active in the background to receive calls.

### 5/5 — Solid beginnings

*2025-07-20, version 1.0*

It’s a solid start for voip.ms on iOS. The feature set is somewhat basic as it’s missing TLS/SRTP. But what is implemented in the app so far works well.

### 5/5 — Stays Alive!

*2025-07-18, version 1.0*

This is the first app I have found that stays alive on Apple iPhones and can receive incoming calls all the time anytime. All others I have tried “go to sleep” or are turned off by Apple after a few minutes of non use.

### 5/5 — Same or Better than Bria

*2025-07-17*

For a free app, I find it has better features than Bria. Texting works well, also.

### 5/5 — Simple and to the point

*2025-07-16, version 1.0*

Works as expected. Looks identical to Groundwire but with simpler settings. Mac version next please!
