## What is VokabelWidget Pro?

VokabelWidget Pro shows your words large on a flashcard — one after another, at the pace you set. You lay your iPhone next to you or stand the iPad beside you, and between two pieces of work your eye catches a word. You learn in passing, without setting time aside for it.

Pro adds to the free VokabelWidget everything that goes beyond simply looking at words.

VOCABULARY TEST
Ask yourself. One word stands at the top, you type the translation and confirm. Upper and lower case make no difference, and where several translations are correct, any one of them counts. When a word is on the tip of your tongue, the question mark inside the entry field gives away a letter — and the next one, if you need it. A bar along the bottom shows how you are doing. Instead of typing you can speak: the microphone of the on-screen keyboard sits right below the field. At the end you see what stuck and what did not.

PRINTING
Three formats for learning away from the screen, over AirPrint:
• A vocabulary list as a clean table
• Flashcards to cut out, front and back aligned for double-sided printing
• A practice sheet with one column left blank to fill in, shuffled if you like and with an answer sheet

READ ALOUD
Word and translation are spoken, each in its own language. The app picks a fitting voice by itself; the speaking rate is yours to set. While it reads aloud the screen stays on, and you hear it even with your device set to silent. A tap on the loudspeaker turns the speech off again.

APPLE WATCH
A complication on your watch face shows one of your words: for the first half of the time the word alone, then the translation as well. You decide how often it changes — every 10, 15, 30 or 60 minutes. Tap it and the card opens on the watch; turn the crown to move on. What you see there is what is going round on your iPhone; entering and setting happens there. The watch app requires watchOS 26.

BESIDE YOUR WORK
On an iPad the app does not need the screen to itself. Put it beside another app in Split View, in Slide Over or as a window of its own: as long as it can be seen it keeps going — the words change, and they are still spoken.

NO LIMIT ON WORDS
The free edition holds 200 entries. In Pro there is no limit.

SAVING AND BRINGING BACK
In the gear, on the “System” tab, you save your whole vocabulary to a file — every language at once. It goes into the Files app, into your iCloud if you like, and opens in Numbers or Excel, to look at or to pass on. Loading works the same way, and it works with someone else’s list too: two columns are enough, the word and its translation. Before anything happens the app shows you what it found and asks whether it should be added to your stock or replace it.

ALSO
• As you enter a word, the app suggests the translation — worked out on your own device, with nothing leaving it
• A pause button holds the change of vocabulary, for when you want to keep a word in view
• Your whole list at a glance, with a search field above it — on a narrow screen the translation sits below the word instead of beside it
• Several languages to learn side by side, and a home language of your choosing
• Your words on iPhone, iPad and Mac, kept in step over iCloud
• Interface in English and German
• No ads, no accounts, no subscription. Buy once, done.

Your words stay your business: the app collects nothing and sends nothing to us. The only outside service is your own iCloud.

### 5/5 — Absolut empfehlenswert

*2026-09-11*

Klare Empfehlung!

### 5/5 — Endlich Vokabeln lernen, ohne extra Zeit einzuplanen!

*2026-08-26*

Die App hat sich für mich als echter Gamechanger etabliert. Die Idee, Vokabeln direkt in der Menüleiste anzuzeigen, ist genial und super effektiv. Besonders begeistert hat mich die Sprachausgabe: Vokabel und Übersetzung werden automatisch vorgelesen. Das macht das Lernen nochmal deutlich runder. Man hört die korrekte Aussprache gleich mit, ganz ohne zusätzlichen Aufwand. Auch der Vokabeltest ist schnell und unkompliziert.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.3 — 2026-09-15

New
• VokabelWidget Pro now comes with an app for the Apple Watch: a complication on your watch face shows a word — the word alone at first, then the translation as well. Tap it to open the card on the watch, and turn the crown to move on. Requires watchOS 26.
• How often the word on the watch changes is up to you: in the gear, on the “System” tab — every 10, 15, 30 or 60 minutes.
• The app now follows the language of your device. Until now it was German everywhere, even on an English iPhone.
• While reading aloud, the screen now stays awake even when reading was already switched on as you started the app.
• On the very first launch, the pair of languages follows your region: in Germany, Austria and Switzerland you learn English, everywhere else German.

### 1.2 — 2026-09-12

Neu
