Terrible experience with the Volaris app. I’m trying to check in, and the app forces me to scan my passport. After successfully reading it, it says that the information “does not match” my reservation, even though all the information is correct. Even worse, there is no option to enter the passport information manually to fix the issue. I also tried checking in through the website, but the website simply forces me back to the app. Basically, you get stuck in a process that doesn’t work, with no alternative way to complete your check-in. Something as important as check-in should not depend entirely on a passport scanner that blocks the whole process when it fails. Extremely frustrating and a complete waste of time, especially when you have an international flight coming up. Requires you to check in on app but doesn’t work half the time, it’s a bit buggy. All this airline has going for it is that it’s a lot cheaper. If you are prepared to save $100 but there’s a high chance you’ll get shafted then go for it. Just hope nothing goes wrong or else it’s a headache. ### 1/5 — Another app built to rip you off *2026-08-21, version 2.16.2* I will write it here instead of putting it in some buried document on the site or application where you have to read in between the lines. We had to pay $60 (about 30 bucks per person) USD to check into our flight in person because the application simply did not let us. It gives you the vaguest error messaging, and loads forever. We even showed the front desk and they just kept repeating that we had to check in through the application, or that we there would be a charge, and they could not help us. Never have I run into a “budget” airline that has a paywall for its customer service. The worst part is they’re one of the only airlines that directly operates out of Mexico. I won’t be flying with Volaris again! I checked the dates 3 TIMES before purchasing. After payment went through my flight confirmation is sent to me. It was set for departure and return on the same day with a difference of minutes! Panicked I tried switching my dates online and it wouldn’t let me. I tried their AI and still couldn’t. Finally was directed to a call center where I was told app errors are not covered by their policy and that I would have to pay $300 to switch my return flight. I even went back to redo the reservation and the price and my original dates were right! This airline is a complete scam. ### 1/5 — The Worst Travel Companion *2026-08-13, version 2.16.1* This app is always on the fritz. Constantly needs to be updated and it still glitches. Makes it really difficult for you to check-in and obtain your boarding pass especially since this is the only place you can check-in. Pointless having customer service if you’re only talking to a bot, when i borrow an iPad for check in of flights the app doesn’t work or says my info is invalid. This is ridiculous, Volaris is the worst airline out there ### 1/5 — Annual pass is a scam *2026-08-11, version 2.16.1* When you make a reservation from Mexico to USA the TUA is included in your ticket but later on when you return to do your check-in they pressure you to repay it claiming you chose to postpone payment on reservation which isn’t possible with the annual pass. They hide their loyalty program! *2026-09-06, version 2.17.0* Volaris does everything possible to keep you from earning any points. Their website is a disaster often doesn't let you login. And their app forces you to download another app (Altitude) to be considered for any sort of loyalty points.
