### 1/5 — Pure junk

*2023-04-06, version 3.8.1*

It just doesn’t work. No matter what. It seems they have a lot of hoops to try and jump through but its tedious and you get frustrated quickly.

### 1/5 — A piece of crap.

*2023-04-04, version 3.8.1*

In a day and age where applications are intuitive, this app comes in a a piece of crap! Avoid.

### 1/5 — Unable to delete this app.

*2023-03-31*

It appears to be a malicious app. I can’t delete it from my iPad. I can’t even fill in the fields for a support request as the page for inputs for my info details is constantly covered up by another page. I can’t get rid of this pop up page. It’s impossible to contact the developer. Stay away from the atrocious app, which was unfortunately introduced to me by HSBC.

### 1/5 — Re: What is this? Does Not Work iPad

*2023-03-15*

Absolute rubbish and caused a whole lot of stress and time I have instructed Westminster Council to stop sending me email attachments using this service as it is ‘NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE’ have missed so many important letters because of this which has affected me immensely. I have emailed developers and not even received a response on numerous ocassions. My advice is: - DO NOT DOWNLOAD AND DO NOT USE! Get whoever uses this to use an alternative and do what I did and delete this Crap.

### 1/5 — This App ‘s the worst!!

*2023-03-14, version 3.8.1*

Lacks instructions to set it up, completely user unfriendly, welcome to frustration. . .

### 1/5 — Practically useless.

*2023-02-05, version 3.8*

We tried using this for clients and actually lost one because it made us look like idiots. When security trumps function you might was well fax it or deliver it by carrier pigeon. Easier than working with this.

### 1/5 — Junk app

*2023-02-02, version 3.8*

You will not get anything done ever

### 1/5 — The worst!

*2023-01-25, version 3.8*

Download the app then click on the link. Doesn’t do anything but highlight. Try it on the desktop- the html is invalid. A huge waste of time.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2022-12-22*

Followed instructions and still unable to view any message at all. All I get is the info screen which you swipe until the end and then nothing.
Sadly Leeds Building Society use this and though I have told them it doesn’t work they persist in using it.

### 1/5 — Confirmed:doesn’t work

*2022-12-14, version 3.8*

Just a waste of time

### 1/5 — Keep showing session expired and crashing. Rubbish app

*2022-11-25, version 3.6.1*

Worst app possible. Most secure because it keeps crashing no one will be able to read it to begin with. Trash.

### 1/5 — Stupidest app ever!!!!!!!

*2022-10-15, version 3.6*

I think this app lives on one motto: “Your mail is secure as long as your cannot open it. Not even you!!!!!!!!!” I couldn’t open the stupid mail no matter what. Not even on PC. They should figure it out how to let us open it if your company only lets you save a file on one drive!

### 1/5 — Can’t download attachments from the app

*2022-10-05, version 3.6*

The app works to view secure messages but does not work if you need to download it. I think most use cases require a download so this app was basically useless for me.

I recommend using the desktop version instead. There is a “Download attachment” button that appears on web.

Note: You will have to create a new account with Voltage and verify your email before you can view/download the attachment. This is not the same as your bank account login.

After verifying your email, restart the process to view the attachment in Voltage and it should work.

### 1/5 — Typical HSBC rubbish

*2022-09-02, version 3.6*

This app is typical of HSBC generally. Ridiculous customer experience. Get rid of this app, if you can pull your finger out HSBC.

### 2/5 — Bad experience

*2022-09-01*

There is no paper clip / attach icon on iPhone .
You can’t add any photo when hsbc asking you to send the document to them. I finally made it because I using my laptop.

### 1/5 — Wow useless app

*2022-08-30*

I could not believe that such a unfriendly to user apps still exist and HSBC insist on using such a hopeless app

### 1/5 — Akhtar Khan

*2022-08-11, version 3.6*

It just doesn’t work. Chase bank uses it for customers. It is aggravating and annoying.

### 1/5 — Why do companies use this vendor

*2022-06-01, version 3.6*

This app is completely useless and the whole process is ridiculous

### 1/5 — Total garbage

*2022-05-31, version 3.6*

Clunky, awkward “solution” to encrypted email that involves a comical number of steps and doesn’t even work on my iPhone.

### 1/5 — THE WORST

*2022-04-28*

If I could give 0 stars I would. Literally the worst app I’ve ever been forced to use, you can’t even open a document and go back to the message, you have to leave the app entirely and sign back in!
I have been forced to use this for a mortgage application and it’s the most frustrating, poorly designed app I’ve ever used.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Ridiculous app

*2025-12-09, version 3.9.2*

Ridiculous app

### 1/5 — Useless App that mostly doesn’t work

*2025-04-25*

Always rejects everything. I’m not stupid but all options to access messages fail. Worked for a while and now it fails every time regardless of me following the instructions exactly.
So annoyed with this now please fix the bugs and ideally make it more straightforward.

### 1/5 — Don’t even bother

*2025-04-17, version 3.9.1*

Complete waste of half hour trying to read a secure email so secure me as the receiver couldn’t read it suggested to Leeds building find another secure email company.

### 1/5 — Unable to figure this out

*2024-11-12, version 3.9.1*

This is one of the most confusing processes that seem to be completely unnecessary. I still can’t figure out how to use this and I would consider myself advanced with computer literacy. How in the world are we being forced to use this broken app?

### 1/5 — 0

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Simple and works

*2020-10-31, version 3.3.3*

I trued the link but cant open the message that SF health plan sent me regarding appointments and dicuments to dubmit. So frustrated. Please help.

### 5/5 — Simple and effective email encryption

*2020-04-20*

Works well for external as well as internal users. Easy to setup and works in conjunction with your regular email app. When email contents and attachments contain sensitive data - SecureMail is a well proven solution for mobile as well as the desktop or in the web browser.

### 5/5 — Err, what’s the problem?

*2020-01-15*

This app worked just fine for me. I followed the relatively simple instructions and have downloaded, read and printed the letter from my bank (HSBC). It was straightforward, worked first time and took about 3 minutes. Not sure what other users are experiencing, but felt that developer deserved my support as for me this was a good and effective app.

### 5/5 — Had to set password with bank first

*2019-11-15*

Initially, I couldn’t sign into this secure mail, so I thought the app was broken. However, I learned that I needed to authenticate my email address and set up a password with my bank before I could use the Voltage mail. I had unsuccessfully tried using the password for my regular banking account before realizing I had to set up the new password for the secure mail system. The communication laps is my bank’s fault, not Voltage’s.

The app works fine now, so I changed my 1-start review to 5 stars. 👍🏾

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback.

### 5/5 — This app does work

*2018-11-27*

I don’t tent to write reviews but felt compelled to with this app!

If you follow the instructions, which are very clear - the app works perfectly

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback.

### 5/5 — Works on my iPad mini2

*2018-10-02*

Just installed. I think perhaps some people are not reading the instruction on the home page when app opens. You cannot login to the app to read a message. You need to click and hold on the email attachment sent to your gmail / hotmail / yahoo account, then either “open with...” or as in my case “copy to Voltage Mail”. Before using the app I was opening secure emails on my desktop, where the app is not required, but I did create an account with a password. When the app opens, I was shown senders email address and my own. I clicked on my own, then entered the password I’d previously created on my desktop. Message opens. And it looks like I’m able to rep,y, although I haven’t tried... Hope this helps!!

### 5/5 — Worked perfectly

*2018-01-12, version 3.0.4*

I received a secure email from my bank and had to use this app to decide it and print it out.

### 5/5 — Works perfectly

*2017-11-27*

I have a secure message account set up with Wells Fargo already and needed to read a secure email on my phone. Downloaded the app, followed the instructions to press and hold the attachment and then chose “open in Voltage Mail”. I typed in my existing password, the message opened right up, and I read it and responded. I also had the option to print. No problem whatsoever.

### 4/5 — Does work

*2019-01-09*

App does work. Suspect other reviewers aren’t following instructions correctly. Little bit fiddly and unable to zoom on documents but got the job done.
