Would be great if more scheduling options to charge is available / can be added … power suppliers in many countries and locations offer more than one off peaks and the app allows one schedule only to charge ### 2/5 — Latest app version is a degrade *2026-08-28, version 7.2.0* The latest 7.2.0 version of the app has changed the format and contents of the trips journal. It now reports the journey duration as text and missing battery regeneration for the journey. These are important if analysing your driving to see driving style for battery optimising use and also excel export manages the duration as hh:mm:ss and not good for Volvo to change to text 00:01 h. Easy to use with the basic functionality to interface with the vehicle. However, I would really like the ability to schedule charging as electricity is much cheaper in the early morning. Also it would be nice to be able to keep the environmental fan on just to blow some outside temperature in. ### 3/5 — It’s ok not great *2026-08-16, version 7.1.0* The positives are the app is well designed and the features that are included mostly work. The app is still buggy when compared to our Tesla one and I have to reboot it from time to time. The charging has never worked for me and I just download all the 3rd party apps. Missing features like being able to open and close windows or open the trunk are hopefully coming down the road. It is now hard to find fuel level ### 3/5 — I used to be able to add a note to the trip log *2026-08-09, version 7.1.0* I used to be able to add a note to my trip log so I could document what the business trip was about. there’s still a place to put the note, but I can’t seem to save the note. I think this happened after the last update. ### 1/5 — Inadequate basic functions don’t work reliably, have you even tested this? *2026-08-05, version 7.1.0* When putting in my company name, it correctly showed our company address in the app but proposed route was from a previous address, a very weird issue. Showed our post code in wrong location! Also data about car state, such as locked, windows open etc is frequently outdated, the notifications do a bad job of keeping app in sync. Does not start charging sometimes if arrive during the charging hours instead of before them. ### 1/5 — Turns off charging schedule *2026-08-03, version 7.1.0* Latest version of this app turns off your selected charging schedule and starts charging as soon as you plug the car in meaning you have to then restart the app and turn the schedule back on again. ### 3/5 — Disappointing & glitchy *2026-08-03, version 7.1.0* It’s fine when it works. I have had it for a month and half and the display screen keeps going blank at random times (whilst driving). If I try to reset the system when not driving it doesn’t work….just goes to a ‘Clean your screen’ display. Have bought a new phone and the digital key won’t work. Have done all tricks shooting in the Volvo Manila’s and everything suggested by chat gpt….still doesn’t work. Have called the Volvo help line only to talk to a rude woman who wouldn’t listen and just went through the manuals. Even when it was working, the interface between apple and google is clunky. It’s a car and drives fine. Think there are better ev’s available for the price. But it’s clearly made to match the new style of their new EX60 and parts of the app that used to show visualisations of my car ( the XC40 recharge ) now show the EX60 like where it shows doors open and inside climate and air purification it shows the wireframe model of a ex60 and id like to show a XC40 like it used to. ### 2/5 — Optionally *2026-08-01, version 7.1.0* Give car owners the ability to uninstall reinstalled apps we don’t want (e.g., OnCall, Sirius) ### 4/5 — Modern UI with Room for Improvement *2026-07-31, version 7.1.0* Overall, I like the new look and feel of the app. It feels much more modern and polished than the previous version. I do have a few suggestions that would make it even better: 1. Bring back the fuel level indicator. I can no longer see the fuel level in the gas tank. I remember this was available in older versions of the app, and it was especially useful for those of us who drive hybrid or gas-powered vehicles. 2. Expand the Gallery feature. The Gallery is a nice addition, but it would be even better if customers could upload a photo of their actual vehicle instead of only using the default images. 3. Improve lock/unlock status reliability. The lock/unlock notifications are still inconsistent. For example, I was having dinner at a friend’s house when the app notified me that my car was unlocked. I rushed outside to check, only to find that the car was already fully locked. Accurate vehicle status is critical for a feature like this. again, this is a solid redesign with a cleaner, more modern interface. Addressing these usability issues would make the experience significantly better. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Apple Watch App Crashes Since Update *2026-09-03, version 7.2.0* I have uninstalled app on phone and watch, rebooted both and reinstalled app. Now the app on my watch crashes immediately when opened. Please fix ASAP. ### 1/5 — Xc90 recharge *2026-09-02, version 7.2.0* I want to control when my car charges without paying for an app. This critical feature should be available in car - like on my other cars Charging a fee per year for an app to do this is scummy, and the cost in image damage is not worth it - charge 37 pounds to annoy customers buying 90k cars. Removed and reinstall the Apple Watch app and my iPhone app. Problem persists. It was nice to have the convenience of not needing my iPhone to unlock and drive my ex30. Please fix. ### 1/5 — Remote lock & start don’t work! *2026-08-22, version 7.2.0* Remote Lock & Remote Start Don’t Work The remote lock and remote start features are extremely unreliable. The car is frequently shown as “offline,” which makes remote start unavailable. Even when the car is online, remote start still often doesn’t work. These are basic features that should work consistently, and unfortunately, they currently do not. I’ll revisit this review of the 7.2.0 update fixes things! App worked fine five years ago. Now the car doesn’t record every trip . Went out yesterday, stopped twice … did over 70 miles , the car says 1 trip 12 miles . Absolutely useless. ### 1/5 — This app is a joke compared to the Tesla one *2026-08-16, version 7.1.0* I pay $200+ a year for an app says my car is running when it’s parked, it’s locked when it’s unlocked, and no other real features. We also have a Tesla and the Volvo app is such a joke. Don’t charge people for features that don’t work accurately. ### 1/5 — Downgrade app option *2026-08-15* Please have an option in the app to change back to the previous version with the nice design and ALL the info. This new design is very clunky and horrible to navigate. You had not too long ago the average cost for gas but was taken off with these recent updates. No new options for more models like the XC40. Status menu is also great for if you forget to lock your car, or need to remotely unlock it for someone else. App does sign you out sometimes which can be a bit irritating but not difficult to sign in again. If I could make any changes it would be to add more IOS Widget options other than the range one, maybe a larger widget with an image of the car, like other competitors apps have. ### 5/5 — Update v 5.1.17 Inzwischen recht gute App mit neuen Funktionen *2026-07-14* Mit dem Update auf Volvo Car UX (aktuell v5.1.17) sind die Fahrzeugsoftware und auch die App (aktuell v7.1.0) wirklich alltagstauglich geworden! Die Bedienbarkeit (auch der neuen Fahrzeug-FW) ist, nach kurzer Gewöhnung, sehr gut und alles läuft recht stabil. Danke an die Entwicklung! Mit dem letzten Update (XC40 Recharge PE, Fahrzeug FW-Version 3.1.9, App Version 5.43.1) sind gute Funktionen hinzugekommen, insbesondere z.B. die Möglichkeit, die maximale Akkuladung von der App aus einzustellen. Eine Anzeige der aktuellen Ladeleistung wäre „nice to have“. Die Anbindung der Apple Watch funktioniert gut. Also inzwischen eine recht gute, stabile und leicht bedienbare App! Hoffentlich gibt es in Zukunft auch keine Aussetzer mehr beim Fahrtenbuch. Was leider immer noch komplett fehlt, m.E. ein „must have“, ist eine Routenplanung mit Ladestops in der App und Übertragung dieser ausgearbeiteten Route auf das Fahrzeug. I find this app very user friendly and helpful. Design of app is simplistic but well designed with relevant functions and attention to detail.
