Terrible car set up experience. Setup is terrible - Spent an hour at the dealership trying to set up my car because the camera in the app to scan the QR code that you have to scan (no workaround) didn’t load. Finally after closing multiple times reinstalling multiple times it just randomly worked. Needs some key features: Widgets - be incredibly helpful especially for an at a glance view of charge status and if the car is locked or not - which is needed given the finicky locking system. Notifications - Better notifications for unlocking/locking. With how finicky the locking can be, it would be nice to know when it does lock or when it remains unlocked/on and unoccupied. Honk - ability to honk/flash the lights to help find your car Remote view - for ultimate trim you should be able to check cameras/360 remotely VCFS account integration would be nice to have it all in one place All in all it’s okay - but I hear the main Volvo app is better so they should merge them. The car setup experience is awful though and it should not rely solely on a QR code that has no backup/alternative. ### 2/5 — No Digital Key option *2025-09-17, version 1.11.1* I have the EX30 Twin Motor Ultra and my app does not show any option for Digital Key addition .. other users do have it .. ### 2/5 — Manual *2025-07-30, version 1.11* The link to the user manual is broken (and has been for some time) which is a shame as this app is the ideal launching point for it ### 2/5 — Can not activate OTA update *2025-07-26, version 1.11* App seems ok but doesn’t allow OTA update. Very limited functionality in the app. The digital key often times does not work. ### 1/5 — Can not switch car *2025-06-17, version 1.10.2* I have only one car, and have had it for 2 wks. I get the can not switch car message about 9 out of 10 times. Signing out used to fix the error, the.ln I switched to deleting and reinstalling. Now not even that works. I am on the latest OS so not sure what the problem is. Also, the few times it lets me in the app, I can not turn on climate control. Tried scheduling, error, setting to now, error. A very frustrating experience all around ### 1/5 — App needs updating *2025-06-16, version 1.10.2* The climate control functionality works 50% of the time. I’m also not able to login and see my car information anymore. It’s been 3 days ### 2/5 — Not Good, Barely Okay *2025-06-16* Doesn’t work a lot of the time… when it does work it doesn’t work as well as apps for competing EVs. I can’t turn see camera views from the app. I can’t turn heated seats on or off. I can’t adjust the climate control temperature (but I can usually turn it on and off), I can’t roll windows up or down from the app, I can’t turn on sentry mode. I can’t open the frunk, or rear hatch from the app. I can’t tell if the windows are up or down. These are just the things I cannot do when the app is actually working. I still like the car. The app is not competitive in the EV marketplace. Every other EV app I have seen is better. Even the link to the user manual goes to a page not found - is there any even basic QA testing? (And from a previous review reporting same clearly the replies are being written by AI :-/) ### 1/5 — Endless loop! *2025-08-22, version 1.11.1* I just bought the Volvo EX-30 today and the app seems to be not working properly. I’ve been to the dealership and spend over an hour with this issue and the app looks like a vicious loop for connecting the with the car. It automatically disconnects from the car and when I try to reconnect it’s giving an error “cannot connect the app”. Seriously, did not expect this on the first day with this car. ### 1/5 — Adding route to Google Maps doesn’t work *2025-07-10, version 1.11* When looking for chargers in area and then selecting a charge location, you click Get Directions and then have option to choose Apple Maps or Google Maps (or Copy address) - Google Maps option does nothing ### 1/5 — Backend is often unavailable *2025-07-08* The backend service which powers the app and allows function over the car is often unavailable or not functioning. No FaceID. Can’t close windows when left open. Constantly being logged out and cumbersome process to get back in. Digital key unstable and car left immobilised in traffic. The issues go on and on. What’s worse: the most arrogant customer feedback team that has no motivation to do anything about it. All they do is hide from their customers who are readily providing feedback. If anyone senior Volvo people in Sweden or China read this, how about you do something productive and fix this whole software mess. ### 1/5 — Honestly terrible *2025-07-06* Proximity unlock works more than 50% of the time but not even a little bit reliably. Remote features literally never work. Climate never works. Remote lock never works. Remote window vent or close isn’t even a feature, but it wouldn’t work if it existed. I like that I can use my phone as a digital key and that hasn’t been an issue at all. Have also noticed in an attempt to fix it that. That my app seems to not long connect the car. Just looked at the driving journal after driving 168miles. Consumption is way out.. Display says I used 62.8kWh giving a consumption of 37.33 kwh/100miles. The actual true figure was around 40 kWh consumed, giving an efficiency of 25kWh/100 miles. The car percent charge went from 97% to 33% . ### 4/5 — It’s good *2025-10-11, version 1.11.2* It’s a good app, why is it getting so few stars?? It’s got most things you want. ### 4/5 — Pretty good *2025-09-13, version 1.11.1* I would put this app on a par with Land Rover but far superior to VW. It has good functionality and a pleasing design. The digital key+ was super easy to set up and so far it’s worked without issue. I’d love to see a graph of energy use over time (say weekly). The only issue I’ve had is that it has occasionally said the car was unlocked and a door was open - both not right.
