### 2/5 — Needs work

*2022-04-10, version 4.3.1*

Great cars but the mobile app and in-car interface are not at all easy or simple to setup.

### 2/5 — Kinda garbage unless you have newer Volvo

*2021-03-23, version 4.2*

I have 2007 XC70, and I have the original paper-bound manual, but I thought it would have been nice to also have a digital copy directly from Volvo for convenience. In the app, it first asks you to select language, model year of car, and model. 2007 lists one car, the C70, and nothing else. That’s a convertible, right? A little obscure, but ok. 2005, the furthest the app goes back, had a few more options (I recall XC90 was listed, but not S60 or XC70). Lastly I checked 2006 and, luckily, or so I thought, the XC70 was there. So I selected it, the app went to download it, it got to 75% and then reported an error, something to the effect of “the server could not be located”. Is that supposed to mean the page no longer exists? That’s kind of what I suspect given the already-sparse catalog of models that are listed. I tried to download a couple more times to be sure and I repeatedly got the same message. C’mon, not everyone drives a new car, Volvo! I’m annoyed that they don’t do a better job of supporting their older cars. Those P2 Volvos are great cars, and we will continue to see them on the road for years into the future, yet Volvo can’t post a PDF for the 2007 model XC70 in their own app. I didn’t even see the P2 S60. That’s the Volvo I see most of, so to me it’s one of the most common Volvos — and it wasn’t even present here. I won’t gripe too much, because aside from this online experience, the car itself is still very nice, I still have the printed manual, and I am still able to get new parts. Bad app though. Not even worth downloading, I’d say.

### 1/5 — 2008 XC90 model year not listed

*2019-12-30, version 3.9*

2008 XC90 Vehicle Year was not listed.☹️ Deleted the app.

### 1/5 — 用户手册下载错误

*2019-11-26, version 3.9*

每次下载到74%就出错

### 1/5 — Started getting telemarking calls in my XC60

*2019-02-12, version 3.7*

1) Downloaded the app earlier today
2) Couple hours later, I got into my car and received a medical bracelet telemarking call over the OnCall connection, within 1 Minute of driving. Simply BRILLIANT!
3) Called OnCall to inquire about the telemarking call, and attendant said “Yes, we’ve received many calls about it, and Volvo dealers have a software patch to block telemarking calls to the car.
4) Called the local dealer service, and of course, they’ve never heard of such a thing.
5) Dealer asked me to contact Volvo again and have Volvo send the relevant information to the Dealer. This is where I started laughing uncontrollably and disconnected.
6) I deleted the app off my phone.

I don’t think this is a coincidence. I think someone is tracking my phone GPS, then paring it with the XC60 GPS. When the 2 match, they call the car #. At least, that’s how I’d do it. LOL

### 1/5 — Not all models manuals

*2019-01-29, version 3.7*

Says models back to 2004. I have 2006 S60, it has 2005, 2009 and 2011-fwd so installed and uninstalled, not the quality I have come to expect from Volvo

### 2/5 — Not working

*2018-12-06, version 3.6*

Please fix issues in ios 12
Not working in iphone x

### 2/5 — Not better than the downloadable PDF

*2018-08-20, version 3.5*

In fact, in many ways, worse. The app doesn’t remember what page you were on, if you switch to another app and come back to it after the app has showdown in the background. Also, the content in the PDFs don’t exactly match the hyperlink version of the manual.

There are so many ways this could be improved.

### 1/5 — Does not support older model Volvos.

*2018-07-12, version 3.5*

Does not support older model Volvos, including V70. In age of easy digital scAnning, you’d think they would at least learn no to a PDF of ALL Volvo models made in past 20-30 years.

### 1/5 — No V70?

*2018-07-03, version 3.5*

Delete.

### 2/5 — Please fix iPad problem

*2018-05-20, version 3.5*

I LOVE THIS APP! iPads don’t have the sound on/off button like iPhones do. Unfortunately the videos call for that switch to be on. Are you following me? Therefore you cannot get sound in the videos when you’re using an iPad. Please fix this and I’ll give you a 5 star review

### 1/5 — V3.3 still 400 error

*2018-01-21, version 3.3*

Has the latest version. Downloading the manual for the car in my Volvo On Call app still fails. And my car isn’t even a year old yet (MY2017).

Tried three times. Got error 400 every single time.

It really shouldn’t be that hard. It’s been, what, about a year now since it failed the first time, and the one most critical feature still doesn’t work...

### 1/5 — Useless

*2017-12-27, version 3.2*

Cannot find a reason why this app exists.

### 1/5 — Never work

*2017-12-15, version 3.2*

Never work because I never download my car data successfully. Opp

### 1/5 — Consistently Broken

*2017-11-30, version 3.2*

Just updated to new release and it broke even further what was already broken. Integration with On Call app doesn't work for XC90. Previously could workaround by declining integration and manually installing manual. But now with upgrade even that is broken and I can no longer access manual for new car I just installed. Now I get a maintenance page trying to install manual again. Not up to anyone's standards Volvo. Seriously terrible.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — No luck

*2022-06-06, version 4.3.1*

I tried several times to fill in the VIN number in order to register my vehicle- to no avail. The app kept telling me that it was not a valid number. That was the first step to start using the app and I couldn’t get past it.

### 1/5 — I don’t know if I like this app

*2022-01-18, version 4.3.1*

I am really unable to rate this app, when I try to open and select my country with the drop down, the list is shaded in such a way that it is unreadable. Changing setting and backlight does not help. Can you assist?

### 1/5 — Update made manual useless

*2021-10-07, version 4.3*

Just downloaded the latest update and now the manual doesn’t work. The options are too dark to see anything. I just want instructions on turning off the auto windshield wipers but I can’t access anything. So frustrating!!

### 1/5 — Can’t download manual

*2021-06-21, version 4.3*

Something happened with the latest update and now I cannot access my car’s manual. This used to be a super useful app, now it’s completely useless.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2021-05-29, version 4.3*

Is this app even still supported? I just get an error message when I try to add a manual.

### 1/5 — Volvo manual small text

*2021-03-30, version 4.2*

So the brilliant developers working for Volvo can’t figure out how to use the font size settings that are basically automatic if they don’t force an override. You end up with small text and lots of completely blank white space and bad page breaks.

### 1/5 — Worked with old iPhone Xr, but not the new iPhone 12 Pro

*2020-10-27, version 4.2*

Unable to download manual for: English-United States, 2006 XC70.

I get a notification while downloading at 75% that says “Server error -1003” while using an iPhone 12 Pro running iOS 14.1

I just upgraded my phone from an iPhone Xr that also ran iOS 14.1 but I had zero problems with the app on there.

### 1/5 — Update won’t load

*2020-03-19, version 4.0*

Tried updating my app but it stops loading with an error. Now my app isn’t working at all. Please fix.

### 1/5 — It’s a manual

*2020-03-10, version 3.9*

Once a month the app is nagging about software update, Volvo has added a new language. This a dirt cheap way of saying…”hey, we’re still here. Don’t forget our brand name”. This has been going on for two years. So called updates. Give me a break!

### 1/5 — No 2007 S80 Manual?

*2020-02-02, version 3.9*

Does not include the 2007 S80 manual.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Excellent app

*2022-06-15, version 4.3.1*

Thank you so much for this app. Please continue to update it.

### 5/5 — 400 forever(fixed)

*2018-01-27, version 3.3*

Update: They finally fixed 400. Good job!

I have never seen a brand can leave a serious problem there forever. As a software engineer, I can see it’s a not a very hard problem to solve(cuz it’s easy to repeat), but it’s just there forever. Just for the attitude towards product, my next car won’t be Volvo.

### 5/5 — Very Useful/Intuitive

*2017-03-18, version 3.0*

I read the reviews before downloading the app, and thought to go back online and continue reading the manual there. I must say I'm glad I took a chance (after all, I was reading the same manual I downloaded, PDF). I didn't experience any of the issues I read about, I'm using an iPad Air 2, the latest iOS, and 64 gb. So far, the app has done all it says it does, and it's so much better with the various videos and pics than the PDF version...which will just reside on my iBook shelf for emergencies.

### 4/5 — Great Information

*2021-07-23, version 4.3*

Looking to get a Volvo and going over the manual is really helpful. Only thing, edge swipe gesture should go back to the previous page, not open the side menu

### 4/5 — Very good way to become familiar with key functions

*2017-07-18, version 3.1*

The app is well designed to work on either iPhone and iPad to get to know your new Volvo. We picked up an XC90 T8 at the Factory Delivery Center and had not driven one before. We'd only briefly sat in one to decide on interior options. We just knew we wanted a second Volvo XC90 and to replace our older V40. Realizing how much new tech the new XC90 and T8 in particular include, I needed to become more familiar with Sensus and especially the instrument panel to understand the hybrid system operation better. The app was a great primer, and I've found it even more useful when using the search feature. Navigating the app I feel does expose you to everything pertinent, and keeps quite a few things hidden until you start searching.

The app all doesn't feel like a full replacement for the manual which is unfortunate as it feels like it could be and offer so much more being far more interactive. The videos that has could be more detailed to give a new owner for more insight. The T8 is full of functions that I feel a more interactive app experience would best help expose new owners to all of it's powers/secrets. After feeling like I'd exhausted the app I started reading the manual. It offered a little more insight and actually having used this app, the manual was more interesting to explore since I now knew where I wanted to focus.

Another note, the app does resemble the built in app manual in Sensus so it makes it easier to use once you start going back and forth. I originally needed it to find out exactly how large the fuel tank is (50L) for the first time I put gas in our T8 to make sure I was filling it and not just letting the auto stop dictate the fuel amount.

### 4/5 — Good, but a little tricky to start

*2017-01-13, version 3.0*

The manual works fine. Once opened, a selection screen appears for you to select your car. Then you get a blank screen. To use the manual, you have to tap the menu lines in the upper left corner. It's easiest to select Categories and go from there. Once you have reviewed a subject, tap the "<" arrow at the bottom left to return to the subject listing.

### 4/5 — Great manual

*2016-07-30, version 2.0.2*

Very useful to learn about my car. 2 features that would make it 5 stars -

1. The bookmarks get erased with every update
2. There are no page numbers or way to read it easily from end to end.

### 3/5 — Still uses with Metric and Temp measurements

*2018-05-14, version 3.5*

Despite an update still stuck on Metric/Celsius. Will not enable battery charging constantly on “paused” please fix. I love the app and I’m in medical sales and utilize every ounce of this app on a daily basis.

Thank you

### 3/5 — Model year

*2018-02-12, version 3.3*

This app would be much better if you could go back more years than just 2006. Then the app could help a lot more people with older cars especially Volvo enthusiasts who have old classic Volvos. For example, 240s, V70s, 850s etc.

### 3/5 — Great app, very beautiful

*2017-10-12, version 3.1*

The integration with the On Call app is broken, and information is kind of hard to find, even with the search function, that's why it's 3 stars. No alternatives here, so I'll use it, but the broken integration is a disappointment.
