Bluetooth connection doesn’t show. Con not connect, can not use! Ingesamt für soviel Geld völlig inakzeptabel - bitte nachbessern. ### 1/5 — Buyer beware!!! *2020-02-06, version 2.0.14* I’ve lost over $600 to get nothing more then a glorified hour meter. I purchased the gateway and additional cable that is required for the install. I have a 2006 5.0 GXI-F and initial install gave diagnostic codes which had no breakdown of what they were tried multiple dealers and limited machinery views. Went back and forth with Volvo for over two weeks tech support returns one email a day no phone contact. I’m told I have a Gen 1 gateway and need the Gen 2. Go through warranty get the Gen 2 at and have to pay an additional $200+ dollars. Going on three months trying to figure this out with no option of a refund after the first two week purchase period. I was told I don’t have the right ecu but I have 90 pin and was argued I have a mefi sent pictures and complete wiring schematic to be told oh I was right and it should work. Finally after months of emails I’m told by the same person that said I need the Gen 2 gateway they only support the software. The more I have dug into this I see they taken money from multiple people the same way. Tried different apple products and even android which wouldn’t connect at all. Hope this saves at least one person the frustration I’ve went through and the money I’ve lost. ### 1/5 — Same issue with latest ver 2.0.4. *2019-04-11, version 2.0.4* Passcode box opens and closes before you can type. ### 1/5 — Class action *2019-04-07, version 2.0.4* This app is pure garbage. Constantly crashes, won’t connect. Completely buggy. Just doesn’t work. It’s a total scam. I’ve spent countless hours trying to get the modules to connect. Sometimes it looks like it is working, but doesn’t. When it does, the app doesn’t stay on more than a few seconds. I want to sue Volvo for fraud. This is something that should be very easy to do correctly for Any company. Although the phone sees and connects, when i try to enter the code, the code screen just appears for less than a second and disappears with a warning message saying you need to enter the code Hence this purchase and installation as of the time is a complete waste ### 1/5 — Volvo ‘Impossible to connect’ *2018-06-19, version 1.28.1* The most useless app ever - it is completely impossible to connect to. The app gives a nano second to input the Bluetooth passkey and then defaults to ‘unable to connect - passkey incorrect’. Happens on iPhone and iPad - utterly useless and a waste of £300. Don’t waste your money. ### 1/5 — Refuses to connect *2018-06-14, version 1.28.1* A bug in the software does not allow to enter the pairing code. The respective menu opens for half a second and it doesn’t accept any entry. Log back in. Update the app? Log back in. Don’t use the app for a week? Log back in. And best of all - log back in? Reconnect, reset up your boat. Then a few weeks ago I was forced to take the update which made the Easy Connect system I bought totally useless. However, it fails immediately when the app is started. Until this is resolved I can no longer use the app or the device in my boat. ### 1/5 — Worthless *2021-12-29, version 2.3.37* This app won’t connect either on my Android or iPad. They should have contracted someone who is proficient in writing apps. ## Most praised reviews (7 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Volvo Penta Connect *2023-07-06, version 3.1* Connects seamlessly with my EVC D4 engines . Allows me to monitor all my important gauges on the fly bridge. As an added bonus logs all my journeys through my navigation app including hours run on each engine and plotted journeys. Highly recommended. ### 5/5 — Langue *2019-02-23, version 1.68.2* A quand la version française ?? ### 4/5 — Some good improvements in Version 3.1 *2023-07-08, version 3.1* Make sure you update to version 3.1. Version 3 was very buggy but most of the bugs have been ironed out in 3.1 and in general, a massive improvement over the previous version, so credit where credit is due. Great that you can now have an analogue dial for speed and RPM however, some work needed to adjust the size of the gauges to fit the viewable area, too much wasted blank space at top and bottom of the “Gauges” screen so you can’t see both dials in full simultaneously. Great to see work being done to improve the app and to fix one of my previous issues by being able to customise the data fields displayed. The Auto configure is also a welcome addition. Thanks to the developers, keep the improvements coming. ### 4/5 — Bluetooth connection tip, great one it works *2018-11-11, version 1.57.0* I installed the BTGW to my twin D6-370 EVC-C installation yesterday and faced the same issues as others to try to connect. I scoured all my old phones for a device that could pair and load the software for the update to no avail. I decided to try to connect my Windows 10 laptop to the BTGW and lo and behold it showed up in my list of discoverable devices. As soon as I started the app on my iPad it showed up, I entered the Bluetooth PIN and everything started working. My guess is that somehow the Windows discovery step changed the device internal state to allow the IOS12 pairing to proceed. BTW, one the app made the connection it did a update the firmware on the device and I’ve had no problem connecting since. I ended up re-wiring my NMEA2000 bus while I had the helm open and now all my devices are talking. The new BTGW fully replaced the original NMEA2000 Gateway with the same form factor and cabling, so it was really a drop in upgrade. I now have data for the engines and all the NMEA devices appearing in the app, very nice! Sea trials next to get a real feel for how to use these capabilities, but I like the promise this brings and the opportunity for more innovation with the wireless connectivity to the boa data. ### 3/5 — Verbesserungsbedürftig *2024-07-20, version 4.1.6* Inbetriebnahme der vorherigen Version war schwieriger. Das erscheint durch das Update wesentlich besser gelöst zu sein. Allerdings hat die Vorversion bei und auch die Geschwindigkeit angezeigt, was seit dem letzten Update leider nicht mehr der Fall ist. Die Darstellung ist m. E. schlechter geworden. Ein dunkler Modus wäre wünschenswert. The idea is fabulous but .... I tried to limit this to an IPad Air for connectivity. For a few weeks it worked holding details of Journey and displaying engine info. I also synced to my IPhone to check fuel in the boat before coming to the boat. Then everything crashed for no reason I had to reset up everything and lost all my history. Sync basically doesn’t work properly. Engine readout is always accurate but since this has now crashed and wiped its self 5 times I can’t trust it to hold my Journey info and must immediately resort to a paper record after the trip. Sync is the slowest I have ever seen and seems to lock up constantly.
