I have been looking for an update but haven’t seen it. Has this abandoned? **Developer response:** Hi, really sorry about this — the freezing issue in the previous version was a real bug, especially on weaker network connections. We've just pushed a new update that fixes this. Please update the app and let me know if you're still running into any issues. VOMO is very much alive and actively being improved! ### 3/5 — Listens Well, Processes Poorly *2026-02-05, version 2.4.99* I’ve been using this app in Saigon and it has done quite week at listening to Vietnamese in the local accent. There are two main drawbacks. First - it cannot add proper timecodes to the transcript. This is especially frustrating as the AI says it has no access to the timecode and yet the time code shows at the bottom of the player. Second - I shed the AI for a transcript with approximate timecodes and it fabricated 20 minutes of dialogue. I could have gotten in big trouble. I didn’t figure it out until I was through the transcript looking for specific lines, and when I couldn’t find a few I shed the AI and it admitted to creating dialogue. ### 4/5 — Upload -> transcribe timeout *2025-12-03* Really great transcripts, but recently I have noticed it not being able to flip from upload to transcribe (even when I’m on WiFi or have full cell service). Then, it randomly will work after trying it multiple times, but it ends up being about a 10 minute process when this occurs ### 2/5 — very useful, until lately *2025-12-02* The Good: this app has worked very well for me for months as a means of automating project management. i’ve been using voice memos to record meetings and funneling through vomo as a means of assigning speakers, creating summaries, and publishing to easily access on other devices The Bad: in a perfect world i would record directly using the app, but the interface is worse than apple voice memos in a couple of ways. I’d like to be able to use shortcuts to start and stop recordings, but only start recording is an option. the shortcut logic also fails under certain basic circumstances like if the app is already open. voice memos also allows for searching for specific terms in the transcript and moving to this part of the recording; neither of which work for Vomo at this time. the Ugly: in the past two weeks the app has been NOT FUNCTIONAL. i’ve made sure i’m on the latest iOS, but files are not being received from voice memos (and yes, i’m making sure to leave this app open while it tries to download and process). Even recordings created natively in the app are prone to failure and being lost entirely. unfortunately I need to look into alternatives until this is resolved, which is very disappointing as someone who pays for the annual subscription **Developer response:** I'm really sorry to hear about the issues you've been experiencing over the past two weeks. Very patient and problem-solving focused. Plus VOMO seems a lot more accurate than Otter was for transcriptions. Be wary of subscribing with Apple though - they don’t convert for exchange rates and just charge UK users the same amount in pounds! Which makes it much more expensive. They recorded nonsense. My voice memos on iPhone did a way better job. Wish they had a free trial because I wasted my money. We completely understand your frustration. Unfortunately, this is an iOS system limitation that Apple enforces for privacy reasons - no third-party app can record audio during active phone calls on iPhone. This restriction applies to all recording apps, not just Vomo. Where Vomo can help: In-person meetings and conversations - record face-to-face discussions Conference calls on other devices - use your iPhone to record when the call is on your computer or another device Video meetings - record Zoom, Teams, or other online meetings when joined from your computer We wish we could offer a solution for direct phone call recording on iOS, but this is beyond our control due to Apple’s policies. ### 1/5 — Very disappointing *2025-10-25* The app failed repeatedly to handle upload of a file less than 5mb. This fitted into the free 60 minute allowance of this app. It did the job in a few minutes with very high accuracy and separated/labelled the many different speakers as Speaker 1, Speaker 2 etc. Then I wanted to send the transcription to a document on my Google drive to open and search it on my laptop. The big ‘Download’ button did nothing and no error either. Maybe it’s a paid feature. Was able to work round it by copying/pasting into Collabra Office Writer then share the file to my drive. I’m still not sure if all the transcription work was done locally on my phone or in the cloud. If locally then it’s a feature that should be trumpeted. ### 5/5 — great app with fantastic support *2026-07-29* app changed the way i handle my day to day to work. in short, it works well as a standalone app with a fairly full offering, but also works seamlessly with other related tools I personally transcript using the apple voice memo app, since it has a really solid search feature within its transcriptions, but then share the files over to vomo for analysis. It also allows for easy publishing, allowing me to access the transcriptions & summaries from my computer. i then can push these summaries into gpt or other AI tools to greatly improve project management. This is what works best for me personally (with gpt and similar tools paid for via work) but honestly VOMO standalone would also achieve most of this exact same offering all on its own if needed The app performs exactly as advertised, but has absolutely top of the line support through its discord. This app is great, and I really don’t know of anything else like it on the market (and I’ve searched high and low). Vomo seems to have five main functions: 1) recording audio for you, 2) creating a transcript of said audio, 3) organising said audio transcript into sections based on the flow of conversation/separate talking points, 4) creating an overall summary with actionable items, 5) being able to answer specific questions one might have based on information from the audio transcript. Do I wish it were free or cheaper to use the app? Yeah. But the value I get from using the app, and the hours of time I’ve saved make the (arguably high) price worth it. I find that I mainly use VOMO for taking secondary notes in meetings (i.e., I take my own primary notes, but I use VOMO to capture some of the minutia or other important information [e.g., data, stats] that I may have misheard or misunderstood). Vomo is also great for extracting especially salient information (e.g., actionable items) and creating a checklist of things that need to be completed, based on information from the audio transcript it creates. I’ve recorded meetings that were over an hour long, and VOMO had no issues extracting the most important info and creating a detailed summary for me.
