## What is Vote for Alabama?

The Vote for Alabama app is built to enable all Alabamians to register to vote and locate their registration information, including polling location and the date of the next election in their area, all at their fingertips. In addition this app will allow users to become ambassadors for the Secretary of State’s Office and reach members of the community that may be neglected by traditional forms of registration. We hope that as a user of this application you work with us and report issues as you become aware of them so that we can work to resolve them as quickly as possible. Additionally, we are already working on new features that we expect to be ready before the November 8, 2016 General Election.

The app is poorly designed and hasn’t been updated in over a year. In that time, the Polling Locations function has simply stopped working. The Voter Registration part is just a primitive web app packaged for iOS. The instructions are wordy yet non-specific. With this app, the State of Alabama has done the minimum required to check off a box on its Voter Outreach to-do list.

I downloaded the Vote for Alabama app so that I could electronically check my voter registration status, as advertised. When I  click on the link in the app to do that, it gives a 404 Error, page not found. I am already registered, so I didn’t use the rest of the app, but I’m not confident that it actually works.
