Don't talk for a while. On purpose. Vow of Silence is one idea. You choose how long you'll stay quiet, and the app holds you to it. There's no course, no voice in your ear, and no session to sit through - just a promise, a countdown, and somewhere to put what you would have said. CHOOSE A REASON Nobody goes quiet for its own sake. Pick why - to settle, to put something down, to recover, to remember, or to think a decision through - and the app behaves differently. Some reasons leave you completely alone for the whole vow. Others ask you one hard question at the right moment, and then go quiet again. A CARD FOR EVERYONE ELSE The hardest part of a vow of silence is other people. Hold up your phone: "I've taken a vow of silence. Back at 6:40pm. Not ignoring you." They type a reply on your screen, you write back, and the conversation carries on. You just don't speak. Nothing typed on the card is ever saved. WRITE INSTEAD OF SPEAK Everything you'd have said goes in the ledger, stamped against the vow clock rather than the wall clock - so reading it back shows the shape of the hours. The noise in the first thirty minutes. What surfaced at hour three. THE RETURN At the end you get your own writing back, a few questions worth answering, and one line to carry out with you. That line is what shows in your archive, so scrolling your history reads as a list of your own conclusions instead of a list of timers. IT LIVES ON YOUR LOCK SCREEN The countdown sits on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, so your phone can stay face-down where it belongs. Close the app, restart your phone, leave it for hours - the vow is still there. SPEAK ONCE A call you couldn't refuse? Tap Speak once. Sixty seconds, the clock pauses, and it starts again on its own. It costs your vow nothing. Real practice has always allowed for necessity, and pretending otherwise just teaches people to lie to their own record. IT DOES NOT LISTEN TO YOU There is no microphone access and the app never asks for any. It cannot hear whether you spoke, and it doesn't try to. The app keeps the time; you keep the promise.
