## What is VoxAxis?

Make your own audiobooks, from paper.

A text to speech reader that scans printed books, textbooks and handouts. Scan a book or a stack of documents page by page. VoxAxis reads the text with OCR, merges the pages into one document, and plays the whole thing back in a natural voice. No more running OCR in one app and read-aloud in another. It all happens in one place. It also opens PDF, EPUB, Word, Markdown and RTF files.

Point your camera at printed pages, textbooks, handouts or contracts, and turn them into something you can listen to on the train, on a walk, or while resting your eyes.

FROM PAPER TO AUDIO
• A real document scanner, built in: edges found, pages straightened
• Scan a stack of pages in one session
• On-device OCR turns the images into text, vertical Japanese included
• Merge scans and files into a single document
• Listen from the first page to the last

READ ANYTHING ALOUD
• Import PDF, EPUB, Word, Markdown, RTF and plain text
• Paste a web link and hear the article
• Type, paste or dictate text yourself
• Natural voices and precise speed control
• The text highlights as it is read. Double-tap any line to start there
• Bookmarks, and it remembers where you stopped
• Save the narration as an audio file
• Fix a word it mispronounces by teaching it how to say it
• Line up what to hear next, in the order you want
• Lock screen controls, a widget, the share sheet, and Shortcuts

EASIER ON THE EYES
• Dyslexia-friendly display: specialised fonts, larger text, adjustable spacing and colour
• Made for low vision, reading fatigue, and hands-free listening
• Interface in 11 languages, with translation while you read

FREE BOOKS TO START WITH
• Public-domain classics from open libraries
• Build a shelf without spending anything

ONE APP, NOTHING LOCKED
Every feature is in every plan: scanning, OCR, merging, audio export, high-quality voices. The only difference is how much you use in a week.
• Free: 2 hours of listening and 10 scanned pages a week
• VoxAxis Pro: 10 hours and 100 pages a week. One payment, not a subscription.
• VoxAxis Max: no limits at all. Monthly or yearly.

Counted plainly: only seconds where sound is actually playing, so pausing costs nothing. Only pages that genuinely need OCR. EPUB, Word, text files and PDFs that already contain text are never counted. Both meters reset every Monday at 00:00, your local time.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Speech, OCR and translation run on your iPhone. Voice input uses Apple's speech recognition, which may send the audio to Apple when it can't run on your iPhone. No account, no sign-in, no ads, no tracking, no analytics. Your documents are never sent to our servers. They are stored on your device, and in your own iCloud if you turn backup on. The network is used only when you open a web page or download a public-domain book, and to check whether a price promotion is running.

Turn your bookshelf into a listening list.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.0.3 — 2026-10-04

Fixed highlights and search in long books. The highlight list showed text from the wrong place, and tapping a search result could jump to the wrong position. Your saved highlights are corrected automatically.

### 1.0.2 — 2026-10-01

Fixed importing books from Project Gutenberg. When a title has no plain text file, the app now reads the other formats instead of saving an error page.

### 1.0.1 — 2026-09-24

• The app now remembers the voice and playback speed you chose.
• Purchases and redeemed codes appear as soon as you return to the app.
• Minor fixes.

### 1.0 — 2026-09-17

No release notes.
