## What is Voyage?

Voyage turns a study session into a flight. For students, by students.

Pick a real route on the globe. The flight time is your study time. SFO to LAX is 1 hour 25 minutes. SFO to JFK is 5 hours 30. Pick a seat, write down up to three things to work on, and tear your boarding pass to take off.

While you study you can look out the window, listen to the cabin, or follow your plane on the map. If you leave the app for more than 30 seconds, your flight stops early. That's the whole trick. It's a lot easier to stay when there's a plane to land.

When you land you get a passport stamp and a logbook entry. You can replay any trip on the map and share it.

Long routes have real connections with a layover between legs. You can also turn on reminders to drink water, rest your eyes and stretch.

I'm Patrick. I study electrical engineering at UCSB and I fly a lot. I love it. I built Voyage because I wanted studying to feel more like that.

It's free. No ads, no subscription, no account. Your history stays on your phone. The code is open source at https://github.com/machmoon/Voyage. If something breaks or you want a route added, open an issue there.

Voyage doesn't block other apps or turn on airplane mode. It just makes leaving cost you a flight.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.5 — 2026-09-28

A new logbook and passport, a bag tag at check-in, and routes that open as you study.

• The logbook and passport are redesigned. Each flight is a ticket, and every city you land in gets a stamp with its landmark.
• Check-in prints a bag tag with your tasks as its contents. Peel off the claim check to board.
• New travelers start with the two nearest cities. Farther routes open at 2, 5 and 10 hours of study, and the first row of First opens after your first landing. Cities you've already flown to stay open.
• Trip replay loads the map ahead of the plane, so it no longer shows gray tiles.
• On iPhones with Apple Intelligence, Voyage splits each bag into parts that fit your flight, and the captain leaves a short note at cruise. It runs on your iPhone, and you can turn it off in Settings.
• A new welcome explains how a flight works. Voyage now asks for your location at the end of it, not at launch.

### 1.4 — 2026-09-17

The flight map opens first.

• When your flight takes off, Voyage now shows your route on the map. Tap Window any time for the view outside.
• No more grey squares while the map loads. It waits until the map is fully drawn before it appears.
• For students, by students. Voyage is free and open source.

### 1.3 — 2026-09-16

Seat map, study coach, and a cleaner tear.

• The seat map draws the whole aircraft at true proportion: cockpit windows at the nose, wings that run past both edges of the screen over the exit rows, tailplane and fin at the back.
• A study coach under Insights suggests a length and a time for your next flight from your own logbook, lists study methods like active recall and spaced review, and copies your logbook for ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini.
• Tear the boarding pass with the button or by sliding along the dotted line. The stub falls cleanly and the departure screen fades in.
• The app opens with a short flyover into the globe.
• For students, by students. Voyage is free and open source.

### 1.2 — 2026-09-15

Flight training.

• Your study hours now count toward a pilot rating. Three landings to solo, forty hours to private pilot. The logbook shows only what is still open.
• A landing that completes a rating adds an endorsement line to your stamp page.
• Bags are luggage labels you write on. Pack up to three things to finish, then claim them when you land.
• The passport opens on your pilot card: add a photo, see your rating, your streak and what is left to the next rating, then the stamps.
• Insights reads your own flights and says what you finish and when. The seat map remembers your last seat. Export your logbook as text from Settings.
• A flight that ends before landing is now "stopped early" everywhere.
• Pure mode: double-tap the flight screen to fade everything but the window and the clock.
• Surprise me: a die at the end of the destination rail books a random route.

### 1.1 — 2026-09-14

A more complete flight from takeoff to touchdown.

• Redesigned boarding, seat selection, and passport collection.
• Richer window scenery and flight replays.
• Flight data recorder with insights from your completed sessions.
• Optional cabin reminders for water, eye rests, and stretching.
• Improved Live Activity expiry, accessibility, and flight timing.
