### 3/5 — Sign up and login

*2021-12-14, version 1.26.0*

Okay I generally like the app and I have never done one of these reviews but because I like the app I am ok so here’s the gist I am not very happy about the whole premium too download because that is what I was looking for in a anime app and the adds are also a really nuisance pretty much the same problems as the other people with that but the main and probably the only thing that sealed that I like this app I can use it on school Wi-Fi and I LOVE that but I can not sign up and when I do it says at the bottom of the screen in red “there is something wrong : (“ and I also tried to login to see if maybe it went through but it says the same thing and I don’t like it because l then have to search up for the anime and then I have to skip through the anime back to my spot and then it goes through the adds again and then it just freezes up at the app so can you please fix this please do the sign up thing first please please please PLEASE

### 3/5 — Decent app, needs work

*2021-09-30, version 1.24.0*

I’ll start off by saying the quality of the content is great. It’s a massive bang for your buck because for $10, you get access to the entire Crunchyroll library as well as Rooster Teeth, HiDive, and others. Considering the regular CR subscription is $8, there is almost no reason not to get the $10 VRV subscription which has at least 3 times more content. Video quality is pretty good as well and I like how you can access the user comments section from the app, unlike CR.

Now for the bad. The video player itself is weird to me. This might just be personal preference, but it feels cheap, kind of like the old Crunchyroll player. Second, you cannot sort shows by genre!! This is super annoying for me because sometimes I’m interested in a particular type of show, but you can’t search for that on VRV. You can only filter by network. Finally, some shows have different versions which are not clearly labeled. In my experience this only affects the HiDive content, but it’s weird to have two versions of the same show, same season, but not know what the difference is.

### 3/5 — Lack of content

*2021-01-11, version 1.22.0*

Been using the app for some time now, and at first I was satisfied. Moved from crunchyroll over, and was impressed by the line up at the time. But then as years passed, creators have been somewhat soft. I understand that there are limitations or boundaries, but why, and this is figurative speech, castrate artistic ability. There have been gems here and there that have been worthwhile and satisfying, but anime as whole should be limitless. It’s matter of escapism to tell stories, experiencing emotions, to create memories. Our opinions alone , are “our opinions”. They shouldn’t force a creator into a narrative they don’t want. People will agree or disagree, but in the end let not one person’s opinions be casted for everyone, but rather hear the collective of opinions from the actual people who go the mile to enjoy the content of the artist. I definitely see this app having potential if the people running it would not let their personal or political bias ruin it for the rest.

...Oh and some the functions for seasons of a series are not working (I.e One Punch Man). It says that it has three seasons, but only shows season one without being able to change it. Have yet to try on other viewing platform other than IOS, but an update or fix would be nice.

### 3/5 — Good but hard to use and lack of search tools

*2020-12-28, version 1.22.0*

I’ve been liking my subscription so far (I am a premium member), however when it’s on mobile videos take forever to load and even then continues to buffer throughout the episode and I am constantly having to pause the video and wait,But on PS4 that is not a problem which is really confusing. Also, I have a lot of difficulty searching for specific and amazing genres that I like because the only searching tool there are based on channel or if you know the actual name of the anime searching for using the genre (I.e. action, romance, etc.) simply isn’t possible. By no means am I saying it is a bad service, however there are some real issues in its own usage as both a mobile and web service.

P.s. I know the anime libraries consist mainly of subtitled animes, however a feature for sorting dubbed and subbed would be a nice quality of life feature as well as a channel sorting feature since the same show could be available among different channels and offered in different manners like an anime being subbed and dubbed on Hi-Dive but only subbed on CrunchyRoll

### 3/5 — It’s ok

*2020-12-11, version 1.22.0*

I enjoy the content on this app, but sometimes it gets on my nerves and is extremely hard to watch anything at all. I personally do not use premium because I only get on every once in a while, but when I do it’s difficult to get the shows to start, and even if I can, the ads will most likely ruin it. Sometimes when I get ads, it plays the same thing four times in a row, never plays at all, plays over the show, suddenly pops up when it is in between ad breaks, plays two ads at a time, or shuts me out altogether. Even if I can get through the ads, I am usually met with more problems. For example, if it does not load an ad it might skip straight to the show, which might be good if it didn’t bug the app, and make it so that I can’t pause, rewind, or fast forward, or even get out of the show or use settings. Also sometimes i will finish ads and it will suddenly stop showing subtitles on subbed shows and/or randomly pause every few seconds. I have seen that premium works a lot better on the app, but you should make it more accessible and enjoyable for the people who do not have premium

### 2/5 — Numerous problems - what happened to this app? It used to be great

*2020-09-14, version 1.22.0*

I have had numerous problems with the app. From it not recognizing I’m a premium member multiple times. Having to log out log back in and it says ‘’You’re already Premium’’ and still not playing videos because it’s considered ‘’Premium’’ but still doesn’t recognize the account. Now on top of that I am having issues to where I can’t download offline. It starts and waits then immediately fails. Offline viewing was a highlight of VRV. What is the point of paying for a service that doesn’t work or simply do what it is supposed to. On top of that I have a new issue where it won’t play the last episode uploaded. Whether it be a new episode for a series or last episode from a completed series, it will not load... I’ve tried everything. Signing out. Restart. Re-installing. I even reset my device and got the same, thing. I loved this app when I first got into it, but recently it has been nothing but headaches. They aren’t even aligned with Crunchyroll anymore and did not announce it, yet they announce all the ‘news and great’’ companies they are working with. Crunchyroll was on of the main reasons to have this app and at least as far as I am aware, Crunchyroll actually works. I am extremely disappointed from where this app was 2 years ago to where it is today. I am hoping to see some major improvement soon or I don’t see my subscription or this app lasting much longer.

### 3/5 — Fix Ads and unpause and pause glitch.

*2020-09-03, version 1.22.0*

Look im not the type of person to write reviews but whatever.

So I have been looking i around to see what apps I could watch anime on and I found crunchyroll, and I started to look for animes and i tapped on an episode and not even a minute into it I already get at least 2 ads like its getting really annoying and i have been getting a-lot of ads like i can barely watch an episode without 10 ads on each episode.

And another problem is that whenever i get an ad there is always another one but it hasn’t shown so when i think its over i just go back to try watching my show but then it just takes me to some random website. And after an ad is done now the episode is glitched and i keep pressing the unpause button but then it starts playing for two seconds and it pauses again, and I restart the app and it is still glitched. And now its just in an infinite loop where it unpauses the pauses. And sometimes its because there is an ad but it doesn’t show so when i try to watch it takes me to a website. So PLEASE fix the too many ads and the unpause and pause glitch.

### 3/5 — There’s Problems

*2020-06-04, version 1.22.0*

I love the app don’t get me wrong, it makes it free and fairly easy to watch a lot of the shows I want to watch, but it has some problems. One such problem is often when before an add, the show gets messed up, it won’t unpause unless you try for multiple times and after a while it gets upsetting. Also there’s way to many adds most of the time, I feel like I’m watching more adds than I am the actual show. The only way I’ve found to fix most of the problems is to just reload the app completely, which can set you back in the show to before you left off, and you’ll have to watch 2-3 adds again. Of course though, this app is something I do like, I can watch all the anime’s and other shows I’ve been wanting to watch without a payed subscription to anything. If you can, definitely try and get the payed version though, it’s got more improvements. But if you can’t then it still works just fine. 3/5, might recommend.

### 3/5 — Downloads

*2019-08-30, version 1.21.0*

Okay don’t get me wrong, this app is great. It has a lot of classic animes that most platforms don’t have such as all seasons of JoJo and even Nickelodeon shows. But the major issue I have is the downloads. I’m currently on the free trial and I felt this would be great as I would be able to watch a lot of amazing titles during the day. But there are two occurring issues that make this so annoying and frustrating. First off, the subtitles. They either don’t pop up, or have English which is very frustrating as I have to redownload them until it works. Secondly, why does it buffer? It’s downloaded right? So why does it buffer if I supposedly have it all downloaded? It annoys me as I either have to close the app and enter again and/or it just doesn’t load. I have to skip 10-30 seconds because that certain section does not load. And there are times where it pauses and it goes to black, unable to play the title. This is what’s holding me back from writing a 5 star review as downloading episodes is important for many people who don’t have easy access to internet and such. So please, do us a favor and fix this issue quickly.

### 2/5 — Great app, insane amount of bugs

*2019-05-07, version 1.20.0*

I really like this app’s selection of anime, as well as it’s more moral business practice than other anime streaming platforms, and I really wanted to like the app, but between constant app crashes, downloads just not working a solid 70% of the time, and playback failures I simply cannot recommend it. If I download a season of anime an hour before I go to the gym, make sure everything says it’s downloaded but then I go offline try to watch the episode and it stops working half way through the op and for the next hour I have nothing to do. Even online when I browse through the admittedly expansive library when I try to add something to my watchlist the app crashes, I reload the app come back and it’s fine... until I add a different show to my watchlist and the same thing happens it’s super annoying that I can’t even browse the app without it breaking down. Say I manage to find a show to watch, I can’t download it or it won’t work, and I only just got it in my watchlist after having to reload and seemingly out of no where the loading sign comes up and the app crashes again. I mean seriously these are just bug fixes, with a product as good as this there is no reason to wreck it with these bugs, please please fix this TT

### 3/5 — Please change back the new update

*2019-03-12, version 1.20.0*

I have been using VRV as a premium user for quite a while now and I am a fan of the service in general. I like the small additions you have made along the way, such as the 10s forward/rewind, the skip to next episode, and so on. Sometimes I run into some small inconveniences, like not being recognized as premium occasionally or the trickiness when I have to re log in. However the most recent update (1.20.0) changed the “My lists” section from a list of my queued shows to most recently watched episodes. I honestly can’t stand this; I prefer having the option to search through shows as opposed to episodes. With this new feature, it is harder for me to check for new episodes and I personally find it messier than usual. If you could please add this option back, perhaps with a filtering option for the my shows list, that would be a much more enjoyable experience. I don’t mind seeing what episodes are new or what I’ve just watched, but I like sorting through the list of shows.

### 2/5 — READ BEFORE YOU BUY

*2019-01-05, version 1.19.0*

The only reason you should get vrv is if you want downloads. Crunchyroll premium is cheaper and works much better than vrv as vrv subtitles are out of sync and dont work right away and sometimes, don’t work at all. On downloads the subtitles are even worse not to mention some downloads will say they are finished downloading but will stop working half way through and the only was to fix this is by redownloading it which you cant do if you don’t have connection or you dont want to waste data (Which is why you download in the first place.) Also this app should let you choose what appears in your home because, some people just want to see anime or just want to see things they have access to and don’t need premium, without going to channels. After the fix I will change my rating to 5 stars as well as many others who want this change. Another addition that would be nice is a group subscription where up to 3 or 4 ppl could pay and have seperate accounts, so me and my friends could have a discounted vrv account and each have our own profile for downloads.

### 2/5 — Great content, bafflingly buggy ad system

*2018-12-31, version 1.19.0*

VRV brings some of the best shows and films to the table, particularly in terms of the deliciously obscure. But the feast is somewhat spoiled by its train wreck of an ad system. While the content VRV provides is worth sitting through a few ads, I’d really rather not watch the same ad 8 times in a row, or ads with nothing but static, laughter and ominous piano music, or ads that play simultaneously with each other or with the show. At one point I had the audio of two separate ads playing over the video of a third ad. All this combined with the fact that ad breaks are rather frequent (three scheduled in a half hour show, not bad compared to cable) and unpredictable (often cutting in with an ad and a half nowhere near the ad marker, and always leading with ads when you come back to an episode you put on hold). Ok well, I’ve gone on a little long about the negatives, but I really want to stress, I love this app! The offerings are just too good, and since paying for yet another subscription just isn’t in the budget, I’m still here, beating my head against the table. But to be honest? I don’t know how much more blunt force trauma my skull can take.

### 3/5 — Big Difference Paid vs Unpaid

*2018-12-14, version 1.19.0*

I had the free trial run and though i was sad for the lack of dubs i did still enjoy much of the service. I liked the “pay for what you want” model since im really not interested in anything but the anime and a few vrv selects. However, when i stopped my premium subscription and went to the ad based model, everything changed.

There are lots of ads (and almost alway the same 5 ads, which is itself a minor nuisance). But the number of ads isnt the issue the coding regarding ads is buggy. Sometimes ads will play over one another. Sometimes youll make it through the ad roll and watch 4 seconds of content before another ad comes on for no apparent reason. Sometimes the video youre watching resumes during the ad, you cant see your video but you can hear it. You also cant pause your video while this is happening because the ad is covering your video controls. If you attempt to touch the screen you’re redirected to the website associated with that ad. And worst of all is when an ad refuses to load, and covers tbe screen for 10+ minutes, and during that time your video restarts and you can hear the video but not see it and not control it, but this time the situation is worse because the problem is indefinitely long. All these problems have happened for me multiple times.

So if youre willing to pay premium for the content that’s there, great, if not, dont do the free thing until they get their ad rolls ironed out.

### 2/5 — Used to be Mediocre

*2018-11-18, version 1.18.0*

This app worked well for me for a long time. The ads are irritating but when you look at the big picture it's essentially the same amount of commercial time as cable tv, and I actually pay money for that. App runs smoothly for the most part (occasional subtitle glitches can happen, just restart the app) BUT THEN FUNIMATION DECIDES TO UP AND LEAVE VRV. This is my biggest complaint about this app. I understand it was not VRV's fault, but there is now a massive gaping hole where funimation shows used to be. My list is filled with shows that say "0 episodes" and I can't remove them so I scroll through five to ten unwatchable series that I can't remove from my watchlist to find what I want. Some anime had shared rights with funimation (example: Overlord) where the entire first season has just been deleted but the second season remains, what's the point of only having the second season you ask? No clue. I understand this isn't VRV's fault, but ye bugs that came with funimation need to be fixed and fast because this once great app is becoming unusable from neglect and greed.

### 3/5 — Bugs and stuff

*2018-11-07, version 1.17.0*

It’s a fine app and it’s free so there is little to complain about as far as the app itself is concerned, but I’ve run into a persistent bug recently. Whenever I select an episode to watch the show will, after a few seconds, stop showing subtitles and sometimes freeze the video all together while the audio continues playing as well as making the app unresponsive to touch (I am on an iPhone 7) so I can’t pause/cancel/back out at all, and whenever I try to close the app or turn off my phone in order to restart it my phone will freeze in the process of closing the app again with the audio continuing to play in the background while my phone struggles to handle whatever the app is doing to it. Even still after my phone unfreezes and the app fully closes the audio STILL plays for several seconds even with the app closed! I probably wouldn’t notice or care that this was a bug if it didn’t disable subtitles and make the app completely unresponsive. Please fix this because I doubt I’ll continue using this app if the bug persists.

### 2/5 — Off line videos stoped working

*2018-09-28, version 1.17.0*

I would of rated this 4stars then after last update all offline videos stopped working.

This is a really good app. I believe VRV is making a real impact on watching anime and finally someone has brought the ability to download for off line use. The addition of iTunes subscription A+ idea It keeps everything simplistic. It has a lot of content, and browsing shows is really simplistic. The video player is ok and I've never had an issue with it. I understand licensing and why not all shows are available for off line viewing. Hopefully with more support this could get fixed. I pay for premium and will continue to do so to support your efforts

There are a few little tweaks I would really like to see added to the app. 1. Delete and play next, having the option the delete the episode you just watched and move on to another. 2. A skip forward option, being able to skip ahead 30 Sec like skipping back. 3. Being able to sort through all shows by genres. Just my thoughts on what would make this app better.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Very annoyed

*2022-06-30, version 1.26.0*

This app use to be amazing as the Crunchyroll app it’s self never worked on my TV so I switched to VRV as it seemed to work a lot better up until now, it is truly frustrating. Every day I get logged out of my account saying “your session expired. you were automatically logged out” it has never happened and it hasn’t even been a fully day since I used the app and it logged me out and it’s hard typing a long email on my tv remote, and also when a series has multiple versions like sub and dub and even season 2 and movies it doesn’t give the full title so I literally have to play a guessing game most the times if it’s subbed or dubbed and even on my phone is does that not just my tv, I am extremely upset that Funimation is going away because Funimation will always be better and work better for my TV, I am very disappointed and speaking off the sun and dub thing I specific series that was on Crunchyroll has the series dubbed but when it came to the VRV app it wasn’t even there I went through 5 different episodes to find dubbed to only find out there isn’t a dubbed season on VRV and yet it’s on Crunchyroll (I’ll just be going to Funimation anyways)

### 1/5 — Very Upset

*2020-03-28, version 1.21.1*

I usually never write reviews so please bear with me. So initially I actually really enjoyed VRV. I had watched Demon Slayer, The Promised Neverland, and Attack On Titan through it and was just starting My Hero Academia. I say all this to point out that not only had I watched a fair amount of stuff, but I also had an extensive list forming of what to watch next. I open the app for the first time in a week or two and my watch list says “failed to load, tap to retry.” So, I tapped, force closed, and eventually signed out to try and solve this issue. I log back in and see that my watchlist is completely empty. I was pretty peeved but I figured I’d just add them all back. Turns out The Promise Neverland is now exclusively premium (that’s fine, it’s from Hi-Dive and not Crunchyroll so I understand), but more importantly my list once again glitched out. So until they figure out what they’re doing, I’m not using VRV anymore. I want my lists to work and to be there so I know how far I am into a given series or what options I have. Also there’s no way to contact someone from VRV to get help with specific problems which I found frustrating.

### 1/5 — I would love to give it a chance

*2019-02-14, version 1.19.0*

So my review of the app is more like a review of the homepage because that's as far as I have ever gotten. I have an iPhone XR running the latest version of iOS 12 and I have not ever been able to sign in on the app. I looked through the reviews and I found someone else with the same problem. Basically what happens is I'll input my email and password (just like I would on any other device) and as soon as I hit enter it says "whoops check your inputs". Now, I open Safari and go to the VRV website, input the exact same email and password (even go ahead and save it to my password keychain) and boom! login with no issues.

I looked through the FAQ page trying to find a solution or a form to contact the developer but I haven't had any luck, just a bunch of useless FAQ irrelevant to my issue. The only remedy I've found is linking my VRV account to my Crunchyroll account so I can at least watch CR content on my phone, but it would be nice to have the full VRV app if I want to watch HarmonQuest or anything else that's not on Crunchyroll. As a paying customer for a while now, I would appreciate it if the developer would at least read this review in hopes that they might be able to rectify the problem... Otherwise what's the point of paying for the service if I can't even use the app. Might as well switch to Crunchyroll only and save a couple bucks.

### 1/5 — Where is VRV support???

*2019-01-20, version 1.19.0*

I own iPhone X with OS 12.1.2 and installed VRV app version 1.19.0 My problem is I can’t log onto my account using the app. I keep getting the message “whoops check your inputs”. If I use a web page or any other device with my credentials such as a PS4 I can access my account. Yes I’m a premium member and have successfully linked my VRV premium with Crunchyroll. I know reviews are not a way to submit account problems, which leads me to write this review. How do I, a paying customer, reaches customer support. Where in the app is the e-mail address or telephone number. Something so simple should not be so difficult to find. I know that there is an option in the app that says “Need Help?”, but seriously, it’s just a bunch of FAQ. Where’s is the support? I have input my credentials both from saved keychain passwords and manually typed user and password with no success. I always get the error which says “whoops check your inputs”. Needless to say my review makes sense,1 star for an app that doesn’t work is a lot. 1 star for an app that a paying customer can’t get to work is a lot. Even if the bug gets fixed and I’m able to login again, please don’t just give me a bunch of FAQ if I need help.

### 1/5 — Cheap tricks

*2018-08-17, version 1.16.0*

I was fine with the app even though the ads were kinda glitchy until i discovered something very cheap and greedy. Many of you have probably encountered this before, but i want to make it clear that ads are not the only problem. VRV is already making enough money by showing ads and people going premium, where people pay a monthly fee to remove ads. The thing that makes them look so greedy is that they wont let you watch every episode in a series unless you are premium. This is a big problem for me cause i am a big anime fan, and a lot of the animes i like are hard to find without having to pay for them. When i thought finally found something that would let me watch hunter x hunter and my hero academia, it limited the episodes I could watch forcing me to go premium if i wanted every episode in the series. I have not switched to premium and will not use VRV until they fix this. I get tempting people to go premium with the no ads, but this is self centered because all people want to do is watch their favorite shows, movies, cartoons, and animes.

### 1/5 — ADS!!!

*2017-12-30, version 1.9.0*

This App Is By Far The Worst, The Most Irritating, And The Most Glitchy Official App I’ve Ever Seen, And All Of That Has To Do With The Ads, The Ads Are So Broken, That They Break The Video Itself, First Off When It Reaches The Black Bars It Plays An Ad, But It Doesn’t Just Play One Ad, It Plays Three! And They Start To Overlap Each Other, For Example There Are Some Ads That You Have To Press To Start, But Then There Are The Ads Which You Just Have To Wait Until They Load And Start, The The 6 To 15 Second Ads You Have To Press, But The Ads That Show The Different Shows That They Have On This App, And That Wouldn’t Be A Problem If The Ads Didn’t Overlap, The Ads That You Have To Press Overlap With The Show Ads, Which Just Start On Their Own, And The Problem With That, Is That When You Press On The Pressable Ads It Pauses The Show Ads And Starts The Pressable Ads, And When They Finish The Show Ads Don’t Continue To Play, And When You Press On Them, They Redirect You To That Show, And When You Come Back To The Show That You Were Watching, It Either Shows Just A Black Screen, With The Audio Playing Still, Or It Either Shows The Video But It Doesn’t Play The Audio Or It Just Jumbles Up The Audio And Plays An Audio From A Completely Different Part Of The Show! So Please Fix This! Everything Else It Perfect But The Ads Just Ruin It! Sorry If This Long By The Way, I Just Wanted To Get My Opinion Out.

### 1/5 — Useless except for AirPlaying CrunchyRoll, but even that’s bad

*2017-10-25, version 1.7.0*

The only reason I can see you wanting to use this is to airplay CrunchyRoll’s content without a premium subscription. Otherwise it’s just an exercise in struggling through a frustrating mess. You come to this app wanting to watch video but somehow the video play features (airplay or just watching on your phone) are non existent. The only thing you can do is pause and play and maybe fast forward without any precision by dragging your play tracker. There’s no skip ahead 15 sec, intro skip option, skip video to next ep, nor does it accurately remember where you last were watching if you stop. The ads are are insanely invasive during playback. I usually count upwards of 10 ads.
AirPlay is even worse since it suffers from all that and it doesn’t seem compatible with anything lower than an Apple TV 4. Subtitles won’t show, video frequently freezes, or it’ll be stuck in a loop of playing a 4 sec segment of whatever you’re trying to watch.
Overall, this is poorly made. If I were CrunchyRoll, I’d be embarrassed to have my name on this.

### 2/5 — Major fatal flaw

*2022-04-26, version 1.26.0*

The service is great, the app is great. It works as intended…. Until it doesn’t. I dealt with a minor bug for a long time. When watching offline content, if you leave the app open it will “lose” your progress on the episode. This is easily fixable by quitting the app and reopening it. The bigger issue I ran into is that I get randomly signed out. This will clear out all my downloaded episodes. Twice in one week I have had to log back into the app and redownload all my offline content. The first time it happened I lost over 100 episodes across 4 shows. I decided to lower it down to just one show but it happened again. This has happened to me a few other times, but now it’s starting to become a consistent issue that makes the app unusable to me. It doesn’t save your offline watch progress when online so I have to guess which episode to start downloading from if I haven’t been actively watching.

### 2/5 — Channels and subscription cost

*2021-12-16, version 1.26.0*

I’ve been subbed to VRV since AT&T implemented the streaming service option of choice. At the time you had plenty of channels to view but now your streaming service has lost all of the channels initially offered. AT&T is now only offering HBO max so my subscription through them will be ending soon and I am having a hard time seeing why I should continue to pay for your streaming service when that time comes. Your lack of channels is the main reason for that. The user interface is great but without content I might as well just go to Crunchyroll. Will the subscription fee be assessed and lowered due to the lack of available content? Are there plans to bring in new content? I just even realized that Hi-Dive is now gone and they had some interesting titles available. I know Crunchyroll’s app isn’t all that great for the user interface but if all you have is Crunchyroll in your lineup I might as well just start using them. Your service is $10 and I could get theirs for $8 dollars. I hope you bring in new content or revise your subscription cost. At this time your service shouldn’t cost more than $5 for the premium service because lack of content.

### 2/5 — Pretty Good

*2020-10-17, version 1.22.0*

As a premium user it’s great. A lot of anime and extra content that if I am interested in, I can watch. But it does need a UI update, one of the problems with VRV is the function of deleting anime/videos you don’t care to watch anymore off of your recently watched. It just stays there permanently and it becomes a nuisance as the video's pile up. Netflix has finally added the option to delete shows off your recently watched when you no longer the interest in the particular show, in turn they finally have less clutter. VRV still has this, I’m paying more than Netflix for less than ideal service. VRV seriously needs to add this function for users as it is annoyance that builds up over time. There’s also these small bugs where anime’s will disappear from your Watchlist and every time you add the particular anime back, it simply removes once again right in front of your eyes. The UI is absolutely atrocious and it needs work, I simply don’t understand where my money is going if they have these major UI and bugs that need to be ironed out. I recommend people simply don’t use this app as a terrible UI ruins a great experience.

### 5/5 — I love this app!!!

*2021-01-07, version 1.22.0*

I love how they don’t force you too watch adds and interrupt your video you are watching and that if you want you can support them by purchasing premium but once again they don’t force you too. That’s what I love about this app unlike crunchyroll it interrupts you and you have to watch an add unless you purchase premium and the adds are super long! Like 90 seconds compiled of 3-4 adds. Vrv is just such an amazing app with almost every anime you can imagine sure they don’t have some under the radar anime but almost all of the anime you can think of they have!! This app is beyond amazing seriously. Once again they don’t force you to buy premium but it would be good too because they don’t force you too watch ads so they must be lacking in funds to keep it running and getting permission from the anime’s..

### 5/5 — Great App For Anime And Cartoon Fans

*2020-11-09, version 1.22.0*

Ignore the idiots complaining about the ads if you don’t want them pay the 4 dollars dollars a month like I did it’s worth it I have used this app for around 2 years now and although some channels have been removed like funimation, shudder, and nicksplat I’m not mad a app like this is bound to lose its rights to certain platforms I’m just glad I still have a place to watch anime using hidive and crunchyroll and now that crunchyroll is dubbing more I am even more happy to own this app it’s way easier to use than the normal crunchyroll app would recommend if you love anime and cartoons they have some great content here I hope they continue to update and keep this app up because it’s been a life saver for me I get early access to crunchyroll exclusives thanks to it and all the new anime that releases I’m super glad they still update new anime to this app and haven’t abandoned it some new channels would be cool but other than that 10/10 streaming service crunchyroll did a great job making this app.

### 5/5 — Love the app but their are some problems

*2020-09-04, version 1.22.0*

hi i don’t ever write reviews whether it’s good or bad but i really like the app and i want to continue to see its improvements so i’m writing down all the problems that i’ve had recently. i pay for premium and recently whenever i try to watch a show non of the episodes will load on my phone, and whenever i switch to watch on my tv with my fire stick the shows will load but the subtitles won’t show and even tho it gives the option on subtitles it still won’t show the subtitles. I hope you guys can fix this issue because i know i’m not the only one with this problem! please fix the issue that way i can enjoy my favorite shows that i pay to watch without any problems! thank you guys and keep up the good work! also it would be great if you guys put a genre section so we can choose the type of anime to watch in that genre.

### 5/5 — The app vs the service

*2018-01-31, version 1.9.0*

The app itself is a 5 star app. I noticed a lot of complaints about the ads. Now for those who are just complaining that they do three ads per break that's been Crunchyroll (the company that own vrv) thing forever. Now the ones complaining about how the ads work and the overlapping that's a legit complaint/problem that they should address but since I pay for no ads I've never had this issue. That's why I give the app 5 stars. Not my biggest and really only complaints deal with the service. I really would like for vrv to offer a yearly subscription model like they do for Crunchyroll and the other partnered subscription Funimation. It makes it so much easier the just pay $50-$60 once a year and get all the anime I want for the year. A lot of times I'll forget about the monthly renewal and spend the money on other bills or food before they charge me. So I'd really like to see that feature ASAP. Also I know it's not ALL vrv's fault but I wish the process of getting everything on Funimation over the vrv was quicker or at the very least like you can link your account to Crunchyroll or vice versa I feel like it should be an option to link you account to funimation. That way I don't average to pay for multiple services due to vrv not having all the content that is currently available on funimation.

### 5/5 — Very good, but needs some work.

*2018-01-06, version 1.9.0*

So first off, I really love this app. I have the premium bundle, so I am not experiencing any of the advertisement related problems that I have been reading. Most of the time it works perfectly, although there are some bugs that I would like to talk about, mostly
concerning the offline downloading function. For example, if I close the app after downloading videos, the content will not play at all when I re-open it, and it will only show a black screen. I’m not sure if it is supposed to do this, but it is very annoying. Also, when I downloaded some anime from Crunchyroll, when I wanted to watch it offline the subtitles didn’t appear for any of the episodes I had downloaded. These are the only problems I have experienced, other than some times where I have been logged out of my premium account unexpectedly. All in all, I still think this is a great app, and I find the premium bundle is worth the money. Definitely recommend it!

### 4/5 — Good 😊 but has some cons.

*2021-07-22, version 1.23.0*

This is good I could have put this 5 stars but the ads are getting annoying yes you can buy it but what I meant is that they don’t put it where there are breaks in it they put it in middle of action or something. I have 2 suggestions reduce the ads my like 1-3 not 4-5. If not optional how about a add clip reduction. Also another one is that so far I or some of us probably hate a video around end of a season or new and only watch 1-3 and can’t watch any further unless get a subscription. I had to use another app just to watch of a good show I liked. But with all these me whining this is pretty good I like your anime shows you guys pick 😊. This has lots of potential just simmer it down or people won’t like the app much unless they have money of course 🤣. Well if your reading this good job and keep up the work 😊 👍

### 4/5 — Add a button to skip the ads and this might be only me but I’m facing animes not loading!

*2020-06-03, version 1.22.0*

After having this app for 2-3 days, I would totally recommend it to any anime fan that has trouble finding an anime. But that doesn’t mean I will rate it 5 stars. There are two hiccups I face when using this app. The first, most troublesome and obvious problem is that there are WAY to many ads. Let’s say I’m watching an anime and then all of a sudden it pauses and when I click to play it, it takes me to safari because 1 of many ads pop up! This is very irritating because it just ruins the anime. The other problem is that sometimes (idk if it happens to anyone else), I will click on an anime and it will say that the anime I clicked on won’t load. I know it’s not because of the internet or WiFi because I have four bars and it never slows down. So please check the problems out and I will change my rating to 5 stars. Thank you for reading!

### 4/5 — Always a but

*2018-10-27, version 1.17.0*

I love the app as it combines what would be many apps into one the subscription to premium if I remember it if not the same as my previous Crunchyroll maybe just a little more, but with the great benefits of coming with the additional sites. As well as what truly makes the app a must have, offline viewing as I don’t an internet provider and just pay a little more for unlimited data from my cellular provider. I sync using data, which is a little slower and when I’m at a location with WiFi let’s just say I stack up the GBs, well as much as I can due to storage limits. As for my but, I really only utilize the anime sites not the cartoon sites or sub par sci-fi’s. Not hating just never enjoyed them much any way. Hope to be able to one day no longer having visit kiss apps as they are sometimes unreliable in connection but many shows that I can’t watch on my premium accounts. Lastly I hope all shows will be getting on board for the option for offline viewing.

### 4/5 — Great and then there was Darkness

*2018-07-29, version 1.15.0*

I really enjoy this app. I was hearing awful things about the UI and whatnot, but after using it - it really isn’t so bad. Yeah it’s not on par with CR’s or Fun’s but it does its job and the servers haven’t crashed on me once... however, there is one problem I’m noticing... sometimes the ads don’t come up period. Sometimes I get audio in the back and sometimes I don’t and often times I have to just leave that episode and come back later to see if it will work. Spending over 1.5 hours to watch a 1 hour video because the ads don’t work is ridiculous.

PS - speaking of ads - CR and Funi actually have just as much if not more with non premium accounts because their ads are typically longer. At least VRV’s ads are promoting their own series and or the other series VRV has licenses to constantly; I’m just waiting for them to actually have a link button rather than just lightly tapping the video on accident to get to the pages.

### 4/5 — Not too bad but, could go for an up date for the better

*2018-07-26, version 1.15.0*

So to start off I don’t want to bag on this app it does have a great selection of shows, movies, etc. that you can browse through, and I would’ve gone to the support page to explain the situation there that I’m having but there’s no real way to let them know on it or in it for that matter so you basically have to come to the review page and hopefully they read these to figure out how they can better make that app for everyone so I’m really here just to let them know or let whoever cares and know that you’re missing the seven deadly sins series from Crunchyroll on this VRV app and probably a lot of other ones that don’t come to mind or haven’t looked up yet, and the application on my phone is where I started my Premium account but as I tried to use my premium account on my game console (PS4) it was making me get a premium account on my PlayStation 4 when I already have a one, so do I have to have separate premium accounts for every device I have or is that just a bug in the system? but all in all I really enjoyed this app, just those small minor things also “30 seconds forward” option wouldn’t hurt as well LOL
