## What is Vulpo for Home Assistant?

Vulpo is a fully native smart home dashboard for Home Assistant on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch, with widgets, Live Activities and Siri built in. Every screen is built from scratch - no web views, no embedded browsers. Just a fast, smooth, genuinely native smart home experience.

DASHBOARD
30+ card types for lights, climate, cameras, media players, locks, covers, sensors, plants, solar panels, weather, waste collection, and more. Drag to reorder, build multiple dashboards, and sync everything across your devices via iCloud. Rename any entity once and its new name and custom icon apply across every card, glance, and room. Eight appearance presets give each dashboard its own look, and the Areas screen lets you organize entities into rooms without leaving the app.

APPLE WATCH
Glances, favorites, scenes and pinned cards in pages you arrange from the iPhone. Control lights, covers, climate, locks, media and vacuums with surfaces built for the Digital Crown and put any entity on your watch face. Works on its own over Wi-Fi or LTE. Whisker (Vulpo Labs) turns the watch into a magic wand: point at a device and double-tap to control it.

LIVE ACTIVITIES
Track your appliances, solar production, climate, vacuum and people right from your Lock Screen and Dynamic Island. Set up monitors for your washing machine, dishwasher, dryer, oven, thermostat, or solar panels, and pause, resume or adjust them without opening the app.

ENERGY (VULPO LABS)
See your whole energy picture in a living 3D scene. The Energy tab brings your Home Assistant Energy Dashboard to life with the sun's real path, live power flows, and your actual buildings. Scrub through the day and explore usage, sources, costs and a per-device heatmap. An early-access Vulpo Labs feature, included with Pro.

MEDIA LIBRARY
Media players open a full Now Playing view with scrubbing, volume, and track controls. Players with a library get a complete browser: drill into albums, playlists, and shows, search with filters, and play or queue anything. Group speakers for multi-room audio right from the player.

3D ROOM SCAN
Scan your rooms with LiDAR and see your smart home in 3D. Vulpo renders your space with realistic lighting and places your actual furniture where it belongs.

WIDGETS & CONTROL CENTER
Eight widget types (toggle, group, solar, chart, person, camera, lock, cover) for your Home Screen and Lock Screen. Five Control Center controls for lights, switches, covers, scenes, and scripts - toggle things without even opening an app.

HOMEPASS
Share your whole Vulpo setup with your household. Export it as a backup file, or hand it over in person with a scannable boarding pass.

SIRI
Ask Siri how many lights are on, whether your doors are locked, what the temperature is, or if there's motion in the house.

PRIVACY
Vulpo connects directly to your Home Assistant on your local network. No cloud account needed, no data sent anywhere. If you have your own external URL set up, Vulpo uses that when you're away from home.

VULPO PRO
Some features are part of Vulpo Pro:
- Live Activities for all monitor types
- 3D room visualization
- Unlimited widgets
- Vulpo Labs early access (Energy, Whisker, Alarm Panel and more)

### 5/5 — amazing app - ui is top notch

*2026-06-25*

haven’t found any alternatives to this 🤩

**Developer response:** Thank you so much! Please reach out at any time in case you have any feedback or suggestions :)

### 5/5 — Amazing Interface and development speed

*2026-06-21*

This software adds a gorgeous interface to my HomeAssistant setup. I always had a problem with HomeAssistant’s own app always needing to basically load a dashboard HTML which often makes it slow to launch.

This apps solves that by having all your setup locally.

In addition the development speed of this is amazing and he is also super responsive. I’ve got next to all my suggestions to improvements so far implemented in a single release cycle.

**Developer response:** Henrik, thank you so much for the nice words! Always reach out if you have more suggestions or feedback.

### 5/5 — Exceptional

*2026-06-13*

Vulpo is the Home Assistant client I always wished existed on Apple platforms. It’s beautifully designed, feels completely native, and works exceptionally well. I was actually considering building my own Home Assistant app until I found Vulpo—and after trying it, I immediately abandoned the idea because it already surpassed everything I had envisioned. An outstanding app and an easy five-star recommendation.

**Developer response:** Hey there Beruk, thank you so much for the kind words - really appreciate it! Always reach out in case you find any bugs or have any feedback ❤️

### 5/5 — True Apple experience

*2026-06-09*

You can feel the care put into this app, it’s truly a real Apple first class citizen app, and I love it.

**Developer response:** Thank you very much for the kind words, really appreciate it! ❤️ Always reach out in case you have any feedback :)

### 5/5 — A gourmet experience for Home Assistant

*2026-06-07*

A first class Apple experience for Home Assistant. You've ruined regular Home Assistant for me, and I mean that as a compliment. Please keep maintaining it !

**Developer response:** Haha thank you so much for the kind words! ❤️ I will support the app for a long time :)

### 1/5 — Buggy buggy…

*2026-06-05*

Lots of bugs, an interface that tries to be original but is clunky, it keeps saying ‘session has expired’, and I certainly wouldn’t pay €70 for a app like this! Long live open source!

**Developer response:** Hey there, sorry to hear you were having issues. Happy to help if you could provide more specifics - you can always reach out to me at josh@vulpo.app! Looking forward to hearing from you :)

### 5/5 — Huge Help

*2026-06-03*

I have a history of adding sensors every weekend but never taking the time to develop my cards and dashboards. Maybe I’m too lazy or just lack time but Vulpo makes it stupid easy and saves me time. It looks better than HomeKit and the native HA App without getting into the yaml or searching Reddit.

The developer has been transparent and helpful which gives me belief the app will be supported for a long time.

**Developer response:** Hey there, glad that I could help and that you are enjoying the app! Don‘t worry, Vulpo will be supported for a long time ;)

### 5/5 — Genial

*2026-06-02*

Klasse App!

**Developer response:** Danke dir! ☺️

### 5/5 — Must-Have for Home Assistant Users

*2026-06-01*

Super intuitive app, great UI, feels like what Home Assistants been missing for a long time. If you use the native app, you know how clunky it can feel, and makes iOS users feel like second class citizens, this fixes that and adds a lot of functionality on top.

**Developer response:** Hey Shikhar, thank you for the kind words - glad you are enjoying the app! A lot more planned for the future :)

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.2.1 — 2026-08-30

Vulpo 1.2 puts your home on your wrist, and reworks plenty on iPhone, iPad and Mac.

Vulpo on Apple Watch
The full Vulpo experience, now on Apple Watch. Glances, favorites, scenes and pinned cards live in swipeable pages you arrange from the iPhone. Control lights, covers, climate, fans, locks, media and vacuums with surfaces built for the Digital Crown, scrub through sensor history, and put any entity on your watch face. Works on its own over Wi-Fi or LTE, even with the iPhone off.

Whisker: Point, Tap, Done
Point your wrist at a lamp and double-tap to switch it. Whisker turns the watch into a magic wand: teach each room from a couple of spots, then control lights, switches, fans, blinds, speakers and TVs by aiming at them. A radar shows what you are locked on, and every fire can be undone. Early access via Vulpo Labs, included with Pro. Requires Apple Watch Series 9 or newer.

Glances Come Alive
Every glance detail opens on a living picture of your home: lights as a glowing skyline, climate as a comfort band, media as spinning records with real album art, motion as a radar. Tap any part of it to filter the list below.

Manage Your Areas
The new Areas screen in Settings shows every area by floor: create, rename and delete areas, move entities and whole devices between them, and sweep unassigned entities into place in one go. You can also change an entity's area right from its detail view.

Alarm Panel
A dedicated card for alarm control panels, with an animated detail view that follows the state and a glass keypad where codes are typed fresh and never stored. The Security glance shows your alarm too, and arming from the wrist works. Early access via Vulpo Labs, included with Pro.

Make It Yours
Eight curated appearance presets paint a matching gradient, card tint and subtle grain on your dashboards, with an intensity slider and a live preview. Your pick syncs to all your devices, and Dynamic Light Colors tints light icons with the bulb's actual color. Colored presets are part of Pro.

Group Widget & Live Activities
One widget, up to eight entities: live tiles show each state and toggle it right on the Home Screen. Live Activities gain buttons to nudge the thermostat and pause, resume or stop appliances from the Lock Screen, and a new vacuum monitor follows the whole run with progress, battery and current room.

Build Dashboards Faster
Adding a card jumps straight to picking the entity, and the card arrives fully set up. Add Card search finds your entities directly, sections can be collapsed, and a long press on a card type picks its size up front.

And Plenty More
Connection drops are detected in seconds and a second server address takes over when the first fails. The Energy dashboard derives per-device costs from your grid tariff, calendar ranges arrive on charts and statistics cards, locks with a latch get hold-to-open, and vacuums clean with mop, vacuum or both. Vulpo now speaks Dutch thanks to tvdsm, and a performance pass makes launch, dashboards and the Mac app noticeably smoother.

### 1.1.5 — 2026-07-13

Vulpo 1.1.5 brings the Energy dashboard, a full media library, and upgrades across the whole app.

Energy, Live in 3D
The new Energy tab brings your Home Assistant Energy Dashboard to life: a 3D scene of your neighborhood with the sun's real path, live power flows and your actual buildings. Scrub through the day, explore usage, sources, costs and a per-device heatmap, and edit your energy setup right in the app. Early access via Vulpo Labs, included with Pro.

Browse Your Media Library
Media players with a library now open a full browser: drill into albums, playlists and shows with rich collection pages, search with filters, and play or queue anything. Group speakers for multi-room audio right from the player.

Rename Once, Applies Everywhere
Rename any entity straight from the Entity Browser, no card required. Names and custom icons apply across cards, glances, rooms, Lumen and every picker, and sync to all your devices.

Smarter Vacuum Control
Send your vacuum to clean specific rooms, run its app routines, and follow detailed live status like "Washing Mop" or "Emptying Bin". Pinch to zoom the map, and reset maintenance counters after servicing.

Charts, Rebuilt
Detail charts draw a shaded band between min and max with a scrub readout, baselines sit at true zero, sensors sharing a unit plot on one scale, and negative values get their own tint. Rotating into landscape now works everywhere.

Rooms & Glances
Room cards show how many entities are active plus the room's live temperature, colored by heating or cooling. Tap the summary pills in any glance detail to filter the list, and choose exactly which entities each room shows.

And Plenty More
Vulpo now speaks Quebec French, cover icons match the device class with a per-card selector, you can add cards straight from the Entity Browser, and there are dozens of fixes and performance improvements throughout.
