After pinpointing the location & hitting the ‘i’ it only opened up the camera option. I downloaded it a year ago and just tried again to report stink bugs in my neighborhood, but once I go to "Report a Sighting" the map opens, the pin appears, and....there is no Submit button or other option to send the data anywhere. ### 1/5 — So Bad It’s Useless *2024-04-17* What should be a great resource has been made irrelevant by lackluster programming: photos loaded to fit a fixed block instead of in their native aspect ratio, making recognition difficult; map that only display points for what should include polygons, has an arbitrarily truncated species selection list, and can only choose all or one at a time; reporting interface that is unintuitive and uninstructive. On top of that, the information provided is unhelpful: a single (misshapen) photo per species, no links to learn more, and -the biggest head scratcher- ‘how to distinguish’ sections that… doesn’t tell you how to distinguish them from other species, just tells you that they look similar!? Come on. ### 1/5 — Lacks common sense *2023-05-08* Cannot search for plants. Lists aren’t collapsible, I spent very little time near water, but Aquatic plants are always displayed. I made a report and this stupid app shows my personal information so security is an absolute joke! And what the purpose of reporting anything f the queue stays open for months!? Did someone just decide to make an app with no consideration of these things? ### 1/5 — Does not actually work *2022-05-11* As stated the report function does not work at all. It’s ridiculously difficult to move the pin and the report citing button does not function at all rendering this app pointless.I have been trying to report Nutria. ### 1/5 — Wish it worked *2021-10-02* Running pp on 5th gen iPad and I have the same problem I had when this app first came out using an iPhone7. Inputting data doesn’t. What do we put in these various fields? How do we proceed? How do we upload? No clue. No instructions. You can’t move the pin very far from your current location because it keeps zooming back to your gps location. Tried everything I can think of, redoing the report, waiting till I got home on Wi-Fi, adjusting pics etc. I’m on an iPhone 7+ running 13.4.1 and I’m disappointed, there’s several huge patches of scotch broom in my area I wanted to report. Should have more photos as well, 1 is not enough if you need to identify a plant you don’t know. And if the description says it could be mistaken for similar plants include photos of those as well ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work *2020-05-07, version 4.1.3* Can’t actually report sightings. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Great reference resource *2026-05-16* In my opinion, this is one of the most informative nature resource references available to any resident or visiting Washingtonian. Being able to have a quick guide to refer to is wonderful. It is also fun to do an inverse scavenger hunt (with kids or without) when on a trail etc. and be a helping hand in protecting our beautiful Pacific Northwest environment. Help reporting sightings of invasive species statewide. ### 4/5 — Great idea, it actually works! *2020-05-22* As long as you know how to use it, this app is useful. However, its main flaw is not having a user-friendly interface. WA Invasives has a GPS that can tag your location once you choose an invasive species to report. The tag that appears on the map shows a little ’i’ when you press on it. Press the ‘i’ to open up the details. From there, you enter your name, email, and a description of the species and how big it is, how many of them there are, etc. Then, you have to go to the report queue. Select the reports you want to submit and then press ‘upload’. I’m rating this app 4 stars because, although it has a lacking user interface, it was created for a good purpose. Once you get to know it, submitting reports isn’t that hard! ### 4/5 — Great app! *2017-04-02, version 3.0* Thanks for the recent updates. The app works well. ### 3/5 — Accessibility issues- Hard to read tiny font *2022-03-05* Just downloaded this app after seeing a story on KIRO 7 news —haven’t used it yet, but seems like a great idea. But, the font is very tiny & hard to read for folks without great vision. There are many similarities so close ups and full plant photos would be useful. ### 3/5 — Excellent idea but needs a little work! *2020-05-26* I like the idea a lot! I think monitoring invasives in WA is important and it will be made easier by this app! I absolutely love the information it provides on invasive species around WA! I would suggest a few things to make this app more user-friendly! -Add a photo option which can ID by image (similar to iNaturalist). If not by photo, try something like Washington Wildflower Search uses! -Add an option to type in an address/location so we don’t have to just drag a pin around. -Add an option to view other people’s sightings! This will help organizations who do invasive species removal plot new locations. -Add studies and organizations to help us find organizations and volunteers opportunities to get rid of invasives! -Instead of using the “i” button to add a photo and then report, have the photo option be the first thing to come up when you press “report sighting.” -Expand the app to include information about native alternatives for gardening! Those are just a few suggestions!
