### 2/5 — Connectivity issues

*2025-11-11, version 1.1.15*

Does not connect with some fans in the house. Connects fine with others. Finicky app, needs work.

### 2/5 — basic functions only

*2025-10-20, version 1.1.15*

I was able to add my fans to the network, but Update Firmware to remotes does NOT work. If I knew support for the app was this poor I would not have purchased theses fans!

### 2/5 — Clunky Most Features Not Working

*2025-01-22, version 1.1.14*

It doesn’t appear the developer is maintaining this app. I ended up buying these fans because of the claimed ecobee integration. The app no longer generates the password needed to link the fans with ecobee.

Additionally, the only way to remove a fan from the app is to disassemble the fan, perform a hard reset and reassemble. Very tedious and unnecessary.

### 1/5 — Never connects to network

*2024-10-22, version 1.1.14*

App just continuously asks for network password and never connects. Also, you can’t use the app without creating an account.

### 2/5 — Confusing

*2024-02-27, version 1.1.14*

Why are there two seemingly identical apps, wac and modern fans?

Second, google integration is promised but while my fan shows up in google home, none of the controls work and says fan unavailable.

Please address!

### 3/5 — App ok, but not all features working as expected

*2024-01-29, version 1.1.14*

I was able to add and control 2 new fans. Had difficulty updating the firmware for one but after several tries it upgraded succesfully. Hovewer I have not been able to upgrade the controls or the wall outlet, not sure if these devices need to be upgraded as well. Controls show up in the account but then the upgrade screen is empty, scanning for the devices does not return any. Most important, the app does not seem to sync the actual status of the fan. Turning the fan on/off from the control or wall outlet does not change the status shown in the app. Switching from one fan to the other in the app does not show the actual or the last select state either. Unable to monitor the status as is.

### 2/5 — Nice fan, wireless features don’t work

*2023-12-23, version 1.1.14*

Just connect to the fans Wi-Fi network and come back to the app so I connected to the fans Wi-Fi network. It went back to the app and sat there for 20 minutes and nothing happened.

### 3/5 — Add features for HomeKit

*2023-11-29, version 1.1.14*

I should be able to turn this fan on like my lights using HomeKit app. Fan is great app needs more integration.

### 2/5 — Bad firmware causes ongoing issues

*2023-11-06*

I have owned two of WAC’s smart fans for about 6 months now. Since installing them I have encountered an issue where the fan connects and everything works fine for about a week, and then stops responding and appears offline. The fan it still be connected to my WiFi (I can see it in my router) but it won’t respond to pings or commands to turn on or off the fan. I have to shut off the power for a few seconds and turn it back on to force it to reboot, and then the fan will come back online and will work perfectly fine for about another week. Both of my fans do this same thing at random times, so I know it’s a firmware issue and not something with my network. Working with support has been tedious. They released a firmware update but it didn’t make any difference for either of my fans. They seem to have admitted at this point there is a memory leak, but have ghosted me and won’t fix the issue. It’s very annoying that I have to keep resetting these fans once a week to make them work. Also if you don’t reboot the fans and they get stuck in the offline status, they seem to go into a panic and barf data to AWS constantly, becoming the nosiest device on my network. If you block the AWS traffic, it will force the fan to reboot itself over and over until you do a proper power cycle. Until this issue is fixed, I can’t recommend these fans to anyone. If the issue does eventually get fixed, I will come back and update this review.

**Developer response:** Hi Scott,

We apologize for any issue you might be having! Could you please send details of the fan you are using and firmware version to our customer support at fansupport@waclighting.com? We'll try to get this sorted out for you, it can be a combination of issues causing this

### 1/5 — Constantly signs me out automatically

*2023-09-27, version 1.1.14*

What is wrong with this app? Im signed out practically every time I try to use it. Do you know how annoying it is in the middle of the night to have to sign into a fan’s app? What is the problem? Just leave me signed in.

### 2/5 — Slow & Poor Integration

*2023-09-02, version 1.1.14*

Program still has not incorporated both Modern Forms and WAC fans into one app, despite them being the same company. Still running two apps for no reason.
App sometimes is slow or poor responsiveness but generally runs smooth.

### 2/5 — App needs updates

*2023-06-30, version 1.1.14*

The app is faulty, only works sometimes. Inconsistent across all 3 of our fans, 1 fans controls will work while the others don’t, or some options on a single fan work like adjusting the speed, but the direction control doesn’t work. It’s frustrating, the fans are nice looking, but I worry that this company is not investing in necessary software updates.

### 2/5 — App is useless

*2023-06-16, version 1.1.14*

I bought the fan a couple years ago and just got it installed a month ago. The fan is great and thankfully works with Google Home or I would need the remote for everything. The app doesn’t work for me at all. I got the fan set up without any problems and it connects fine through Google Home app but in the WAC app it just gives me the little swirly like it’s loading or connecting and I can’t do anything.

### 2/5 — WAC please focus on quality

*2023-05-01, version 1.1.14*

I love my fans, the app should be equally as good. The software is buggy. You cannot create groups in the latest release. You get a popup that just says Tip and an OK button. The app is slow to find devices. It’s faster to go grab the remote than to use your phone. And there are buttons in the app for features that aren’t yet implemented (as confirmed by Support) like updating firmware on remotes. If a feature is not implemented, please remove the button from the app. For customers who buy your fans and other products for their quality, design, and attention to detail, they expect the same from your software products. The app is not yet up to par.

### 1/5 — Terrible product

*2023-03-17, version 1.1.14*

I bought 5 weather proof fans for a large covered porch, nothing but problems with the fans and app. Everything is going into the dumpster, a little over a year old.

### 3/5 — Could be better

*2023-01-17, version 1.1.14*

App could be really good if more reliable and stable. Having multiple fans and switching from fan to fan the screen doesn’t reset and shows the light/fan speed from the previously selected fan - confusing and needs to be cleared.

The only way I really know what the fans are doing is by going to check them ~ which defeats the object of being able to control them remotely.

Would appreciate support for HomeKit as well.

### 1/5 — App can’t sign-in

*2026-02-22, version 1.1.15*

If you use token based MFA with your Apple ID, the app can’t sign-in using your Apple ID. Asks to “Continue” after entering password but can’t be clicked.

### 1/5 — Buyer beware

*2025-12-28, version 1.1.15*

The hardware is mostly acceptable albeit mediocre quality but this software is total amateur hour. Loses connectivity constantly. Integration is a joke and requires reboots if it even connects. Worked with Google home for 3 months and never again since. Connects and shows in Google home but connection can’t ever control the fans. Fans lose connection with remotes and app regularly. Find a different solution !

### 1/5 — Waste of time

*2025-09-23, version 1.1.15*

Update: Even with the recent app update, I still have trouble using Alexa to operate the fan. It works for a while and then quits. Original Review: No app update for three years speaks volumes. I purchased my fan two years ago. Alexa integration mostly worked for about a year. For the last year I mostly operate the fan using the phone app. When I’m feeling industrious, I try to fix the Alexa connective issues. I waste time troubleshooting via the Alexa app, then the WAC app and come up empty handed, walk away, only to repeat the process later.

I won’t try again until or unless they update their app.

They need to drop SMART from the name of their fans. :/

### 1/5 — Terrible smart fans

*2025-06-28, version 1.1.14*

This is the dumbest smart product i have ever dealt with.

### 1/5 — Avoid fans using this horrible app

*2025-05-30, version 1.1.14*

The app is complete garbage, as in it feels like it was designed by an uneducated middle school child.

It constantly signs you out, rarely reconnects, and on a good day, might turn your fan on or off - definitely not both.

It’s a trash app which serves little to no purpose, so do not waste your time nor money expecting it to work. 🙃

### 1/5 — Used to work

*2025-05-28, version 1.1.14*

It is so frustrating to have issues with these smart fans. I currently have 6. When a fan has a problem, it requires removing it from the ceiling and often getting a new transmitter or receiver. I have had to change out a receiver three different times in the two years I’ve had these fans. Currently like somebody else’s review I have had the issue of two fans disconnecting from the Wi-Fi disappearing from the app and forcing me to add them back continuously while they continue to beep and even though I add them back, they disappear again. I hate these fans now!!!

### 1/5 — Waste of time

### 1/5 — Very Disappointing

*2025-01-05, version 1.1.14*

I have added the device over and over again. The fan is running, and on its own beeps, then shuts off. The app screen goes grey and asks if you’d like to add a device…again. The app does not detect the device that has already been paired. I finally gave up, and I’m relegated to the old school remote. I’ve never had a home device app that simply erases the paired device at random…over and over again. I would suggest don’t even try it. It’s a frustrating waste of time.

### 1/5 — Modern Forms FIX THIS APP!

*2024-12-04*

To Modern Forms – you are still selling fans mostly controlled by this app, rather than a wall switch, so why don’t you update the app? I have the same issues as all recent reviewers. App either logs me out every time I close it, or won’t connect at all to any of my 3 fans. Thus requiring either many restarts, or logging out and back in. All of which often STILL does not force a connection. It’s so frustrating. No wonder you’ve hidden Facebook and other social reviews. Please, please fix it. I love my 3 fans, they are beautiful. Much nicer than other fans on the market. And I love that they are WiFi, if only this would work!

### 1/5 — Worst app ever

*2024-10-25, version 1.1.14*

Enough said

### 5/5 — App works just fine

*2023-06-22, version 1.1.14*

3 months in. App works great. Breeze feature was something I didn’t expect but like it. My only gripe is not with the app. Because that’s fine but I’m a nice house we are not looking to use an app for every space in our home and especially a different app for each light or each ceiling fan. The Amazon and other online sell sheets from WAV talk about Control4 being compatible. Unfortunately the driver is not out yet. Which is sad because the main way that we were hoping to control this was from a wall keypad dimmer. That same keypad controls the lamps and the recessed fixtures in this room. Now we have to grab the “remote” or add another wall keypad that is from WAC instead of using universal control automation. Yes it works with voice command with Alexa and what not. But nothing is more fulfilling that pushing a button when you walk into a room. That is why I hope that Control4, or even Lutron Homework’s & Josh AI drivers release soon.

### 5/5 — Improving all the time but needs Face ID to login

*2022-11-04, version 1.1.14*

I had to reconnect one time but was really easy as their technical support was very easy to find online and they walked me through everything step by step in no time. The app is super easy to connect. My problem was likely user error. I highly recommend WAC products.

### 5/5 — Needs more Siri/iOS support

*2021-12-11, version 1.1.7*

I wish this service had more features to interact with Siri like “Siri turn on the bedroom lights” shortcuts. It doesn’t even have widget support. App feels so outdated

### 5/5 — Fantastic app and product

*2021-05-23, version 1.0.15*

We are very happy with our 52" Smart Home Compatible 3Blade Smart Ceiling Fan with Remote — it and this app work beautifully together. Customer service was great also in helping me set it up — thank you!

### 5/5 — App Works Great

*2020-04-19, version 1.0.7*

The app works great - smooth process. No issues making the purchase. Happy with the app and my smart fan.

### 4/5 — Firmware finally fixed!

*2024-05-31, version 1.1.14*

I own two of WAC’s smart fans. I specifically purchased these for their smart capabilities as I read they work well with Home Assistant. After installing them, I encountered an issue where the fan connects and everything works fine for about a week, and then stops responding and appears offline. The fan is still connected to my WiFi (I can see it on my router) but it won’t respond to pings or commands to operate the fan. I have to shut off the power to the fan for a few seconds and turn it back on to force it to reboot, and then the fan will come back online and will work perfectly fine for about another week. Both of my fans did this same thing at random times, so I know it’s a firmware issue and not something with my network. Working with support was tedious. It took 8 months and 73 emails but finally the issue has been resolved by way of them releasing a firmware update. The fans have now been stable and I am pleased with them again. I wish they would support Apple Home Kit (they do support local control if you use the third party integration in Home Assistant) but there are also a few missing API commands like activating the “breeze” mode. So overall I am happy again with my purchase but do fear that if something breaks again, it will take forever to get it fixed.

### 4/5 — Mostly good

*2022-06-28, version 1.1.14*

Connected without problems, all the app controls are quick and effective and voice control works well. I can’t access breeze feature with voice which is a problem because it’s always on but the app works well

### 4/5 — It’s gotten a lot better

*2021-03-23, version 1.0.15*

The smart home integration was kind of flakey when I first bought the fan but it has improved substantially over time with the firmware updates. It’s pretty much 100% reliable now. Would recommend.

### 3/5 — Bad app, decent fan

*2025-08-13, version 1.1.15*

The fan is good. The app’s ability to control it awful. The fan would be better if it weren’t trying - and failing - to be “smart”

### 3/5 — Nice fan, junk app

*2024-10-26, version 1.1.14*

The fan works great and is quiet. Instructions are pretty weak, and it says you need to pair phone and update firmware. Tried for about an hour to pair remote and, but it won’t pair. The remote works fine but the app, not at all.
