For the last few months (probably since the last update), it has been hopelessly unreliable. It crashes frequently and randomly, it fails to save notes I’ve made, it sometimes saves the same page identically several times, and it often fails to detect the bamboo notepad at all. This is completely unacceptable, and I would not recommend this company or any of their products. It is obvious that they have no commitment to supporting customers to maintain product quality. So disappointing. ### 2/5 — Poor *2022-02-14* I agree with previous reviewer. I am writing notes on Bamboo Paper app on surface and there is no way on the app to revisit these same notes on my phone at all. Terrible ### 4/5 — Great for writing *2021-01-07* I spend all day at work on a computer. When I want to write, the thought of spending even more time at the keyboard is not appealing at all. Increased risk of repetitive motion injuries is also a concern. Writing in a notebook has been my alternative but that comes with its own issues - mainly transcribing my hand written notes onto a computer which is tedious and kind of defeats the purpose of hand writing in the first place. So I bought a Bamboo Slate. I hand write on the Slate and the use this app to transform my handwritting into editable text. I then export text into a note in the Notes app on my phone. Inkspace lets me export new pages to an existing note so it’s easy to keep pages in order. Inkspace does a good job of translating my handwriting into text. It is teaching me to be a little more careful - dotting my i’s etc. I can’t fault the app for errors where my handwritting would give a human reader trouble. I sync to my phone after every page and it has worked flawlessly so far. My one minor issue is that the editable text has a return at the end of each written line. So a little additional clean up required to get returns only at the end of paragraphs. It would be helpful if I could enable a mode where text was translated without returns unless I wrote a paragraph symbol - or something like that. Or just treat the page as a single line of text; it would be easier to add 2 or 3 returns than deleting a lot of extraneous returns. I’d give the app 5 stars with that feature. So Bamboo Slate let’s me write my initial draft without typing and then easily convert it to editable text for further editing and archiving. ### 3/5 — Needs a bug fix but when working it’s great *2021-01-06, version 3.8.5* Absolute delight to use the intuos pro paper edition and watch live mode show my drawing on screen. Would be good if it would record your drawing for a speed paint which I don’t think it does. When the app works well it is so much fun and doesn’t miss anything you draw but as of 5/01/21 it’s a bug filled mess that surely Wacom will be able to address address abebbet back to where it was! Please Wacom fix it and also add a recording feature for live mode! Thanks ### 3/5 — Inkspace and Wacom Folio *2020-12-05, version 3.8.0* Great kit and App generally fine. But I haven’t thus far managed to get the video feature or work and keep getting error messages. This has happened on the iOS app and the Windows 10 app. I am not the only person to flag this problem. I draw for a living and I acquired this hoping to be able to animate the production of my artwork. So this feature is important to me. Wacom what’s the fix?????! ### 2/5 — Notebook View and Page Skim Feature *2020-08-22* Bamboo slate smart pad is good. The App is bad. The app functionality for storing and revisiting your prior notes is extremely poor. (1)First, MAKE INKSPACE THUMBNAIL VIEW REGTANGULAR INSTEAD OF SQARE! The note we take and save is rectangular in shape. I do not understand why the thumbnail page view in Wacom inkspace is all square shape with only the view of the center part of each page. You cannot see the complete note page by looking at the thumbnail page view, making it extremely difficult to identify and locate the note you want. You have to literally open up each page in order to find the page you want. (2) Second, ADD SLIDE BAR QUICK PAGE VIEW. The current notebook browsing function is poor. You have to open up each page and flip each page one by one to browse the notes you take and locate the page you need. When at full page view, why can’t you add a slide bar at the bottom, so people can slide the bar to quickly browse all pages in full page view, just like Kindle app book browsing function. Generally, I feel this app is designed to work on individual pages, not designed for people who needs to take real notes. You need to make note storing and browsing more functional and make the digital notebook in Inkspace more useful like a real notebook, in order to make the app and the Bamboo Slate more useful and meaningful. **Developer response:** Thanks for sharing your feedback with us, we would definitely consider your suggestions for future improvements! Meanwhile, we would like to share two features which you might find helpful. There is a quick preview option triggered by pressing and holding over a thumbnail in your notes library. You could also change the thumbnail size in your library by pinching in or out. This should help you to navigate and find your notes faster. ### 4/5 — Things to consider *2020-06-08, version 3.7.5* So far the app is working fine but it is missing two crucial elements: 1) Duplicate files. I would like to have files duplicated. I have a standard file as a background that I merge with most of my files. But every time a have to “split it back” so I can have the file ready to use again. 2) Lock files. I would like to be able to lock files from accidental deletion. I organize my notes with a different topic on each page and will add an idea to the appropriate topic page as it comes to mind. It’s current setup has got me rethinking if the bamboo slate is right for me? I saved s couple of pages, then combined and emailed them in a single file. I also created a PDF and a video of my drawing as well.. which was very cool. ### 5/5 — Expensive, but currently best there is. *2018-11-11, version 2.6.1* The creation of digital pens has such a bumpy past. Who remembers Logitech’s and Livescribe’s thick pen with an inbuilt camera? Wacom has had a great idea, thinner pen and a backplate, when you sandwich paper between them you can recreate what was written, digitally. I have a Bamboo Spark and a Slate and both work effectively. Draw back - pairing is only between a pair of devices (where the Livescribe pen paired with any phone/table you asked it to). The software is adequate, but you have to use Wacom’s cloud to store pages (why you can’t sync with Dropbox or iCloud is probably because Wacom want to charge Professionals who need a fully functional cloud service). The free 5Gb is great for me and the sync with all devices works well. Character recognition isn’t as good as it should be. There are better systems one there that can chew up handwriting and spit out perfect text. Wacom needs to find a good system that converts handwriting to text and diagrams to lined pictures. Again, there are better applications that can do it. However, I love Bamboo Slate and Spark. I like Wacom’s page management software/cloud storage. I’m happy to write on paper and have a digital backup copy on their cloud.
