## What is Waffenschrank?

Waffenschrank is a private inventory and training log for legal gun owners — sport shooters, hunters, collectors and carry permit holders — with NFA items and permit deadlines.

Your collection stays on your device. No account needed, no ads, no tracking. You decide what gets backed up or shared — backups are encrypted right on your device, so we cannot read them.

FIREARMS
• Handguns, long guns, air guns and archery in one inventory
• Photos, caliber, serial, year, barrel length, condition, storage location
• Purchase and disposition history, value over time

GUN CATALOG — 4,000+ MODELS
• Action, lengths, weight and capacity, every spec with its source
• Add a firearm from the catalog, or put it on your wishlist

NFA ITEMS
• Tax stamp and Form 1 / Form 4 paperwork with the item

BOUND BOOK (A&D)
• A&D record for dealers or C&R collectors; a correction is a new entry
• Shows which ATF Rul. 2016-1 conditions the app meets and which stay with you

AMMO
• Cartridges, shotshells, pellets and arrows with a low-stock alert
• Scan the barcode; the load comes from the catalog
• Lots per type, subsonic filter, cost per round

TRAINING LOG
• Log a range trip; ammo is deducted for you
• Round count per firearm, yearly heat map
• Photograph a target, tap the hits: ring score or A/C/D zones, group size, trend per firearm
• Apple Watch: shot timer with splits and par time; strings go to your iPhone as suggestions
• Match results by division; PractiScore import with stage times and hit factor

GEAR AND STORAGE
• 2,600+ gear models, including optics, mounts, suppressors, bipods, magazines and lights
• Every firearm lists its gear, total value and weight
• Safes double as gear and storage location: contents, purchase and sale
• Your own load data, components, batches and chrono strings
• Ballistic solution out to 3,280 yards; custom weather with Pro

REPORTS
• Insurance-ready PDF with photos, serials, values and receipts
• Everything exports to CSV
• Valuation schedule PDF for insurance or an estate (Pro)

STATE AND COUNTRY NOTES
• Eight states on file so far: CA, NY, NJ, IL, CT, MD, WA and CO. Pick yours to see its magazine, waiting period, registration and storage entries, with citation and as-of date
• Other states are marked as not covered yet
• One deadline list across permits, acquisitions, memberships and maintenance
• Every rule cites its source; the app is not a substitute for the advice of an attorney. State law differs and changes, and the app makes no determination.

SHARE ONLY IF YOU WANT
• Showcase: curated selection by link or QR code
• Serial numbers, storage locations, quantities and prices are never shared as data; what your photos show is your choice

SECURITY
• App lock with Face ID, Touch ID or PIN
• Encrypted backup as a file or to your own iCloud, with checksums, verified after every restore
• Receipt and document scanning on the device
• "What leaves your device": one page that names it

WAFFENSCHRANK PRO
The core is free, and so are iCloud backup (manual or automatic), device sync and your first showcase. Pro adds account backup, receipt scanning, photo cutouts, target analysis, 12-month trends, full ballistics, reloading, PDF reports, further showcases and your own club page. If Pro ends, additional cutouts and showcases are put on hold; the app keeps it all.

Waffenschrank keeps records. It is not legal advice and not a compliance service. The app does not buy, sell or broker firearms, parts or ammunition.

Waffenschrank Pro (optional):
• Monthly $2.99 · Yearly $23.99 · One-time $59.99 (no subscription; only until 12/31/2026)
• Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period unless canceled at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Manage or cancel them in your Apple Account settings.
• Terms of use (EULA): https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.6.0 — 2026-10-23

Version 2.6 brings two ammo sections, Spain and Denmark as new markets, and more than 4,000 gun models in the catalog.

• Ammo: the tab now has two sections named for your market – in the US, “Ammunition” and “Other ammo”. The app suggests the section when you add an ammo type, and Training deducts from both.
• Spain and Denmark: two new markets with their own permits and deadlines, plus Spanish and Danish as app languages.
• Gun catalog: more than 4,000 models with specs and sources.
• Annual subscription without an account: if no email or notification reminder is set up, the Overview shows the renewal date and how to cancel before it renews.
• More improvements and bug fixes.

### 2.5.1 — 2026-10-18

Version 2.5.1 adds email reminders before your subscription renews, even without an account.

• Email reminder: if you have an annual subscription from the App Store and no account, you can choose to add an email address on the Pro screen. We use it only to remind you before your subscription renews, not for advertising. You confirm the address via a link in our email, and you can remove it in the app or via the link in each reminder.
• When you start an annual subscription without an account, the app asks once how you’d like to be reminded before it renews: by notification or by email.
• iPad: the Undo bar now sits directly above the floating button.
• The app’s version number now appears at the bottom of the More tab.

### 2.5.0 — 2026-10-16

Version 2.5 brings the iOS navigation bar, a way to undo a restore, filters for optics and accessories, and bigger catalogs.

• Navigation: screens you open from a tab now use the system navigation bar, with the Liquid Glass look on iOS 26 and later.
• Accessibility: “Increase Contrast” and “Reduce Transparency” now take effect in the app, too. If a gun, an ammo type or a permit can’t be saved because a field is missing or invalid, the app jumps to the first affected field, and VoiceOver announces how many fields need correcting.
• Widgets adapt to the tinted and clear Home Screen styles.
• Backups: when you restore a backup, the previous state stays on your device as a copy for seven days if there is enough free storage. You can use it to undo the most recent restore – under “Export & backup” or “Cloud backup & sync”. If photos or documents are missing after an interrupted restore, “Download missing files” fetches them from iCloud without restoring the backup again. The account backup now uploads only new files.
• Optics & accessories: filter by type, manufacturer, storage location or assigned gun – on the Optics & accessories tab under Guns and in the accessory list.
• Safes: tap one of your safes under accessories to see what’s stored in it, grouped by category.
• Air guns and antiques can now also be filtered by “Last fired” and by whether they’re on loan.
• Germany: the Sachkundenachweis (proof of firearms competence) is now a document type of its own under Permits.
• Catalogs: more than 3,700 gun models, more than 2,600 accessories with more optics, mounts and night vision devices, plus more than 350 safe models.
• Trends: even without Pro, the Trends card now shows your round counts and ammo spending for the last four weeks, week by week.
• New under More ▸ “About the app”: “Guides & law” opens our guides to your country’s firearms law on waffenschrank.app; next to it are “Recommend the app” and “Rate the app”.
• Email address: you can now cancel a pending change. If your current address is an Apple relay address that no longer receives anything, you can still complete the change after signing in again.
• Device sync has a storage limit per account. If the limit is reached, the app tells you clearly; the data on your device and your backups are not affected.
• Forms: “optional” now appears below the field instead of in its name, the date format appears as a placeholder in the field, and many labels are shorter.
• Privacy: the privacy policy now says more precisely where your information is stored and what we receive from the App Store. If a showcase stays public when you delete your account, the app tells you.
• Many more improvements and bug fixes.

### 2.3.0 — 2026-10-07

Version 2.3 makes adding ammo and accessories faster and brings two-stage cleaning, “Undo” when deleting, and legal notes with a review date in every country the app covers.

• Ammo from the catalog: in an ammo type’s form, search by manufacturer, product line, caliber, item number or barcode. Your selection fills in the details. More than 3,000 ammo types in the catalog carry their barcode.
• A barcode in the search field on the Ammo tab finds your ammo type or suggests the matching one from the catalog, even without a camera. If you have several ammo types with the same code, for example in different storage locations, the app shows all of them.
• Accessories: find more than 180 entries in the accessory catalog, such as optics, mounts, bipods and night vision devices, by the barcode on the box, either by scanning or in the catalog search.
• The accessory catalog now has more than 300 night vision and thermal devices.
• Signal cartridges (26.5 mm, 12 gauge) are in the ammunition catalog, with a legal note in six countries.
• Two-stage cleaning: tick off the quick clean after training; the deep clean is based on round count or time. The “Care” section on each gun shows your last quick clean and deep clean, now also for license-free guns. After black powder or corrosive ammo, the app reminds you on the day you shoot.
• Undo instead of “Are you sure?”: bring back deleted sessions, planned sessions, maintenance entries, documents, targets, shooting ranges and dealers with “Undo”. Deleting a gun still asks you to confirm first.
• You can now edit a saved session entry; your ammo stock and round counter adjust along with it.
• The forms for sessions, permits, competitions, memberships and reloading now also keep unsaved input as a draft.
• In many lists, long-pressing a row opens its actions. The accessory form is now organized into groups.
• Large text: input fields grow with the system text size. Plus many improvements for VoiceOver.
• Legal: the legal notes for all twelve countries in the app have been checked against the official wording and state their review date and the provisions they rely on. Statements that turned out to be wrong or too broad have been corrected. The app is not a substitute for the advice of an attorney.
• One-time purchase: if you bought Pro as a one-time purchase, the app now recognizes it directly through the App Store, also without our servers and without a third-party service. “Restore purchases” checks with the App Store first.
• Sync between devices: once all signed-in devices are on version 2.3 or later, your entries are stored on our server in 64 identically structured, encrypted compartments. The server then sees neither the type nor the number of your entries. It still sees the number and size of photos and files.
• Many more improvements and bug fixes.

### 2.2.2 — 2026-10-04

Version 2.2.2 brings an account screen with two-factor authentication, a price-per-round calculator, shop links matched to the catalog, lengths to 0.1 mm, decimal scoring and many bug fixes.

• New under More: “Account”. Change your email address and password there, see whether Pro is active and, if you have a subscription, get to managing it in the store. You can also sign out on other devices or delete your account.
• Two-factor authentication: if you turn it on, signing in also asks for a six-digit code from an authenticator app. Someone who only knows your password can’t get to your sync and backups that way; the server checks this too. Recovery codes have you covered in an emergency. Turning it on signs out your other devices, and they then need version 2.2.2 or later as well.
• Price per round: in the Ammo tab, there’s a calculator next to the + button. It works out the price per round from the price and rounds per box, the number of boxes and the shipping costs. Pick an ammo type and it compares the offer with your last purchase. “Record purchase” carries the values over into a new purchase entry.
• Emails about your account, such as sign-in codes or confirmation links, now arrive in the app’s language.
• Wishlist: copy the product link from the shop and tap “Add from shop link”. The app reads the details from the shop page and, if the catalog knows the gun, suggests the matching entry.
• Accessories on the wishlist now have a shop link field too, with suggestions from the accessory catalog.
• Barrel and overall lengths are now stored to the nearest 0.1 mm, including when you enter them in inches. If an older length saved in whole millimeters sits at a classification threshold, the app asks you to measure it again.
• Targets in the training log now accept ring scores with tenths, for example 104.5.
• If you change your country and with it the currency, the app asks whether your saved amounts should stay in the previous currency. Nothing is converted.
• Ballistics: enter air pressure either as station pressure or as QNH from the weather report.
• If you turn off the reminder for a planned training session, it stays off on this device, even after a sync or a restore.
• Notifications for deadlines and sessions no longer show gun names, notes or shooting ranges.
• When the app locks, the lock screen now also covers open dialogs. It stays still when you unlock, with no more jumping or fading.
• Gun, ammo and accessory forms keep unsaved input as a draft on your device. If the app is closed before you save, you can restore the draft the next time you open the form.
• In the Ammo tab, you can now also swipe over to Reloading.
• The + button for adding items now looks the same on every screen.
• The system keyboard and menus now appear dark when the app is dark.
• The “Leisure & license-free” role now gives examples in everyday words, tailored to your country.
• Device sync and backups are more reliable, for example when deleting items, when restoring during a sync and when the device clock is off.
• Many more bug fixes, including for number input.
