## What is Wait. What??

Wait. What? is a daily accountability app for distracted, busy, and easily-overwhelmed brains.
Most task apps assume you'll remember to open them, stay motivated, and won't spiral if you miss a day. This one doesn't.
GET TASKS OUT OF YOUR HEAD
Hold to record — speak a task and AI parses it instantly
Photograph your notebook — Quick Scan turns handwritten lists into tasks
"Hey Siri, add to Wait, What?" — Siri Shortcuts support
Brain Dump anything — it's your inbox for every loose thought, errand, and someday idea. Sweep Mode helps you triage it one note at a time, no overwhelm
STAY ON TOP OF TODAY
"What should I do right now?" gives you one answer, not a list
Overdue tasks stay visible — they don't vanish and guilt you from the shadows
Reminders follow up until something is done, not just once
Streaks forgive one miss per week, because life happens
The focus timer (10, 20, or 45 minutes) lowers the bar to starting
Partial days are celebrated, never penalized
BILLS, WITHOUT THE DREAD
A dedicated Bills section tracks monthly payments separately from your tasks. Set due dates and amounts, get a gentle heads-up before each bill arrives, and mark them paid — without it messing up your streak or your focus score. Import from DUE, Apple Reminders, or any CSV.
YOUR YEAR AS A STAR MAP
The Sky view turns your task history into a personalized galaxy — every completion becomes a star, shaped by what you finished, when you did it, and how hard you pushed. Your sky is unique to you. Capture special moments by attaching a photo to a completion. Watch shooting stars when you hit milestones.
WEEKLY STORY MODE
Instead of a dashboard of numbers, see your week as a story — Focused, Heavy, Comeback, Scattered, or Quiet. One headline. A few beats. The whole picture: tasks, bills, focus sessions, notes. A mirror, not a report card.
WORKS EVERYWHERE YOU DO
Apple Watch — glance at your complication or quick-capture tasks from your wrist
Apple Calendar + Google Calendar sync — see your tasks alongside your events
Apple Reminders bidirectional sync — changes flow both ways
iPad layout — full responsive design
YOUR KIND OF WIN
Pick how the app celebrates with you: confetti, a hype coach, a sarcastic nemesis who's furious you actually finished, or a micromanager convinced you could've done it faster. Choose from 7 themes.
BETTER TOGETHER
Body-doubling works. Invite a partner, housemate, or friend — see who's focusing in real time, start a shared session, send nudges, and chat without leaving the app. Share tasks and track each other's progress. No leaderboards. No shame.
HONEST BY DESIGN
No streaks that break at midnight. No overwhelming dashboards. No all-or-nothing scoring. Deleted tasks can be restored. Just a calm, structured place to show up.
Built for people who need a little external structure to get things done.

### 5/5 — A must use for slackers

*2026-05-21*

This has been so helpful to use when I work during the day. I set up things I have to knock out for the day and it will even sync to my calendar so I can see it from my work computer when something is due. The reward system is funny as well and the micromanager one makes me giggle

### 5/5 — Definitely worth using

*2026-05-12*

I made this app for myself so of course I’m giving it 5 stars. But on top of that, I give it 5 stars because I use it every single day and it’s helped me in more ways than not. Juggling ADHD on top of a busy schedule and parenthood is already hard enough but now I have this app to send me the reminders I need to complete something

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 4.4 — 2026-07-09

This one's all about your Apple Watch.

- Checking off a task on your watch now always counts — even if the app on your phone is closed. Your check-off waits patiently and lands the next time your phone catches up.
- Multi-dose tasks (like meds you take 3x a day) now check off correctly from your watch, one dose at a time.
- "All done!" on the watch now means actually all done — longer task lists no longer get cut short.
- Pausing the timer on your watch now pauses it on your phone too. They finally agree.
- A fresh coat of paint: the watch app and watch face complication now match the app's look — warm coral and gold, with your category colors on every task.

Also in this update:
- The Quick Capture widget button now reliably opens voice capture.
- Tasks you've excused with "Not today" no longer linger on the widget.
- Fixed adding a reference photo to a task.

### 4.3 — 2026-07-04

This one's a big one — a calmer Plan, real events, and a Sky that's finally alive.

A rebuilt Plan. Your day now reads like a simple agenda instead of a grid. Untimed tasks gather into a clean "Anytime" list, meds tuck into their own shelf, finished tasks fold away into "earlier · done," and a gentle "Now" card shows what's current — so you always know the next thing without the whole week shouting at you.

Events, not just tasks. Add an event to your calendar with the new +Event button. Events can span days and don't need checking off — they just sit quietly on your Plan so you can see what's coming.

Groups got friendlier. Hold any shared task to edit it, mark one-time group projects complete, and dismiss nudges you've already seen. Joining a group with an invite code is smoother too.

A living Sky. The Sky tab now drifts with gentle ambient motion, popups are easy to dismiss, and there's a clear close button. It's also faster and lighter on your battery.
Quieter by default.
Reminders now fully respect your quiet hours — personal and group — so nothing pings you when you've asked for calm.

Streaks and "today" stay correct past midnight if you use a custom day-start.

The usual steady polish: a smoother focus timer, a fix for bills rolling into the wrong month, more reliable account deletion that fully clears your data, and a handful of stability fixes.

### 4.2.1 — 2026-06-27

This one's all about your lists.

Edit checklists on the fly — tap the pencil next to any sub-task to rename it, or delete it right from the list. No more delete-and-retype. Works on your own tasks and in groups.

Clearer group imports — when you scan a photo, a PDF, or paste a list into a group, you'll now see a "reading…" indicator while it works, so you're never left wondering. And the review screen opens at the top, with the list name and category right where you expect them.

The usual quiet polish and fixes to keep things calm and steady.

### 4.2 — 2026-06-27

What's new in Version 4.2:

Brain Dump is now your only backlog. The Someday list is gone — it was easy to forget, which kind of defeats the purpose. Your Someday items have been automatically moved to Brain Dump, which is always right there when you need it.

The Sky is always night now. The time-of-day color shift (daytime blue tint) was more distracting than calming, so we cut it. The sky stays deep and dark. The moon still tracks real rise/set times — that part stays.

Completion stars actually show up. Stars in the Sky header were landing behind the notch and going invisible during daytime hours. Both bugs are fixed — stars now glow with a subtle halo and always land where you can see them.

Scanning a list is cleaner. The scan preview now has a clear toggle between two modes: List (one task with subtasks — great for packing lists, checklists, routines) and Tasks (individual separate tasks). Easier to pick the right shape for what you scanned.

Bug fixes and performance improvements.

### 4.1.2 — 2026-06-25

Version 4.1.2 — Build 129
Bug fixes and reliability improvements.

Fixed a sync issue that could cause the app to get stuck showing an old version of your tasks after an update, requiring you to manually clear your data to recover
Fixed a background write loop that could pause syncing and show a "Syncing paused" banner — the app now self-recovers automatically if this ever occurs
Fixed group invite codes being cut off at 6 characters (codes are 8 characters — some users couldn't join groups at all)
Fixed overly sensitive scrolling in Settings that was opening sections unintentionally
Reduced how many Firestore reads happen each time you open the app
Removed the Two-Minute Doorway reminder (it was removed from the app but the toggle was still showing in Settings)
Various stability fixes across Today, Plan, Groups, and Sky
