User reviews

Sort of works

I wanted to use this to light my entire room up (8 bulbs) but if you add more than three, the shortcut to set the alarm time fails and actually deletes the wake up light completely.

LITERALLY useless

I don't know what "home kit" is, but this app won't work without it.

Works like a charm

Using this with Nanoleaf light bulbs and HomePod Mini. I could not be more pleased. I don’t even mind the subscription fee for the ease of use it’s worth it. The integration with my HomePod was seamless. The setup is simple and intuitive.

won’t load

the app continues to say it is creating my sunrise alarm, the preview worked fine however it is stuck on 0% and will not create it no matter how many times i try to

A lot of features locked

Unfortunately, there were so many features that are locked behind a subscription. If it was a one time purchase, I would definitely consider it more, but I do not want to pay monthly or yearly to turn on my lights automatically.

I miss the days and acts like these were a five dollar purchase and that’s it

FAQ

What does the Wake Up Light app do?

This app simulates a natural sunrise using your HomeKit-enabled smart lights to help you wake up more gently. It gradually increases the brightness and changes the color of your lights, mimicking a real dawn to ease you out of sleep.

What are the key features of this sunrise alarm app?

Key features include alarms that turn on lights and change colors, support for all HomeKit-enabled lights, blinds, and outlets, the ability to set custom wake-up durations, and integration with Siri and Shortcuts for easy control. It also allows for multiple alarm creations and works even if your iPhone is not connected.

How does the wake-up light feature work?

The app creates a HomeKit automation that gradually brightens your selected lights over a customizable duration (recommended 30-60 minutes) before your set wake-up time. The light shifts from dim, warm red to bright, cool white, signaling your body to transition into lighter sleep stages.

Is this app compatible with my smart home devices?

Yes, the app is designed to work with all HomeKit-enabled lights, blinds, and smart outlets. This means it integrates seamlessly with Apple's HomeKit ecosystem, allowing you to control various accessories for your wake-up routine.

Can multiple people in my household use the wake-up lights?

Yes, alarms created with Wake Up Light are shared with everyone who has access to the same HomeKit home. This means other members of your household can also benefit from and control the wake-up lights.
