Such an excellent app - a huge number of great walks and you can download walks so they’re available offline (map and text), track your progress on the route so you know you’ve not strayed plus there’s info about loads of interesting features on the route. A real gem!

**Developer response:** Thanks for your very kind review - so glad you find the app useful :-)

Honestly having done some hikes around the world, having such a detailed app like this is a complete Godsend.

**Developer response:** Many thanks for your review - it's much appreciated. We've spent quite a while doing walks overseas and would have liked to have a Walkhighlands over there too :)

### 5/5 — Great Scottish walking app

*2026-07-06*

Highly recommend- it’s a curated walking collection and has excellent real walkers reviews and updates. Completely free - doesn’t try to upsell anything. Covers all areas of Scotland. You can download walks, os maps, gps tracking. Much more reliable than commercial walking apps because of active walkers involvement. Very grateful to the developers (charitable organisation ). If only every country had a walking resource of this quality.

**Developer response:** Thanks so much for your lovely review, we really appreciate it. Hope you enjoy many happy walks :-)

Great app. The searchbar has recently stopped working, other than that it’s great

**Developer response:** Many thanks for your kind review. We’ve just launched an updated version with a Google search box back again - you try updating via the App Store.

### 5/5 — Navigating the Scottish Highlands

*2026-06-22*

The best of the best. I live in the US and Walkhighlands has everything you need. No need to look elsewhere

**Developer response:** Thanks so much for your review. Hope you enjoy more future trips to Scotland.

### 5/5 — App

*2026-06-20*

Love the app. But I would like distances between each step included. I think it would benefit those of us who find it difficult to follow instructions!

**Developer response:** Many thanks for your review and feedback - it's much appreciated! If it helps, when you look at the route map with your current position marked, the numbers on the map mark each kilometre from the start of the walk. We are slowly adding more distances in the text where helpful (e.g. turn left after 300m) but it will take quite a few years to get round all the walks with that info. If you check the map with your location, hopefully that will help in the meantime.
