But has a lot of issues, from its toxic community & is very much clearly PAY TO WIN. if you don’t drop any money on the game you will progress extremely slowly, to the point where you won’t even want to play due to frustration. The game also has terrible loading issues, where in some circumstances it won’t give you rewards you worked for due to this. It opens then closes!.. apart from this the game has been fun. But it is now getting boring, nothing different and once you reach top level there is nothing more to do really. The base hasn’t been updated for years and it’s all about money ! I don’t mind spending a bit but not hundreds to get a half decent team. Half of me is glad the app has crashed, at least I can move on to something new. It’s fun for a while but then they introduced new tiers and it just became so confusing because they were just coming up with another way to make more money. To all the people out there, if you love walking dead, don’t, play, this, game. Just don't. Trust me you will get addicted and start wasting money on it, and at one point it will just spoil the game. Have a great day! ### 3/5 — Money Pitt *2023-08-28* I love getting a new event just for it to be to open scope’s gambling chests over and over again don’t mention you need the key first too that cost money so there is no point in opening the advanced mythic wheel/ultra wheel if you don’t have this 30 dollar key don’t forget this wheel has all the best toons I’ve loved this game for years but it’s just not cool to spend 200-dollars on a toon just for it to be basically useless within the month also why don’t you include toons in the battle pass anymore I don’t think it’s fun anymore to spend on this game but it’s not easy for free to play players to even compare to people that drop 1000s of dollars on this game I just want there to be a way to skip the grind with money but still have the option to get toons for free just takes a while I get it if you want to spend money to skip some of the steps to get a toon but just make is so you can if you really grind get stuff for free I love this game scopes but your really making it not fun hopefully you don’t screw it up again like you did with s class the mythic. **Developer response:** Hello Survivor! It was a game that you had to grind for, the events are spectacular. You can change your profile upgrade characters, weapons and many more! (Sometimes it can be a pay to win game) but when they tweaked the game it wasn’t the same. Now you could easily get mythic ppl without grinding that much and I love strategy games. It’s been a few years so I was very excited. I had a few surprises, one there’s a bunch of new modes that have seemed to give myself more to do and they’re for the most part pretty fun, two characters are now completely different, and three I was unable to get my old account back. It was liked to my Facebook but when I liked it back up nothing changed, very disappointing because of spending hundreds of hours and dollars into this game before hand, but with the new way the characters are I think it’s easier to progress than it’s ever been which is both good and bad, good because it wasn’t as difficult as I thought getting a at least one or two good characters on my team, but bad because it feels as if all that time and money that went into fully maxing out a five star now means nothing **Developer response:** Hello Zam, thanks for your feedback! Now we usually can’t even complete a request because a bot closes the conversation over and over! Not cool!!! For the past few months Scopely servers have not been able to support game play. Everyone is getting constant Network Errors!!! It’s definitely a game system problem. We don’t have Network Errors on any other app or website. Please update your servers to be able to handle all of the new updates because it’s getting to the point after playing since 2015, I’m almost ready to delete app and game I love except for these continued glitches. We want game support back from your bots!!! We need assistance and help not a bit closing requests every single time!!! ### 4/5 — Not as bad as people say *2022-10-27, version 36.0.2* Let me preface by saying I’ve never spent a dime on this game so this is a fair review. I played for a few days back when the game first released but not longer bc of having a bad phone then. I recently came back like 2 months ago and can say it really isn’t that bad. Is the energy system crappy? Yeah and some activities take way too much, is the store too expensive? Yes but none of it is necessary nor is it even enticing enough to buy. The building timers for buildings (no it’s not one of those castle builders like game of war don’t worry) gets long but they really don’t impact gameplay you’ll be perfectly fine on wood or food (used to upgrade the buildings and characters) at all times. Now if you’re a long term player you got burned with the intro of new rarities that your current characters can’t get to you have to earn the new ones, which isn’t really fun but I do enjoy collecting the older characters I have and they’re also useful in the museum to get even better characters so they still have some use. All in all it has lots of events to gain free things, easy to do dailies that gives new characters and such and you can still get a 2-3 hours of gameplay daily even with an energy system. It really is NOT that bad. ### 2/5 — Game used to be fun *2022-06-30, version 35.0.4* I remember playing this game and looking forward to hopping on to play everyday I played for 6 years and led 3 factions in that time and was a co in another, the war event used to be fantastic it was very neutral, now I feel like I was playing this game to just lose, I remember when hard work paid off and mattered now a veteran player of 6 years can easily get beat by someone just starting out because they spend, and auto play needs to go, when I wasn’t losing constantly to players I was auto winning almost every level, I like feeling like I’m playing a fair game that I can think on, not a game that caters to only spenders and plays itself, this was my favorite mobile game for years because I love the walking dead, but will no longer be playing with what it’s become, and the current community ruins all the fun this game used to be ### 3/5 — It won’t work when I try to progress through the dialogue. *2021-12-31, version 33.0.4* I already finished the beginning stuff and when the dialogue comes up when I try to click skip or next the game completely breaks, I can hear everything but the screen is stuck on a part where the protagonist is just stuck saying “Wow sandy didn’t know you could fight” or something like that. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling, restarting my device, I played this game awhile ago and it never did this, maybe this is just a new glitch? besides that the game used to be fun, until I couldn’t play it. I’m not spitting on your game I would just like this issue fixed please, and thank you for the experience. ### 3/5 — Not the same *2021-07-14* I get nostalgic when I look back on this game I was one of the first people to play and I instantly became addicted, yes pay to win was there but it was very balanced to players who didn’t want to spend, the events were simple but great I remember the first time I got into a top faction to do war and getting my first 5* Derek. This was around when Andrea was overpowered and people had full blue teams with 3/4 of her and a shield. I miss these times and now the game is just clustered with greed and broken 6*s. Wish they didn’t introduce them cause it made the game so slowwww with raids/fights. But I understand as people would have become bored if they didn’t introduce them to the game. I used to love this game to death but I’ve left it buried for good. Take care RTS ### 3/5 — Would be really fun. If I could play it *2021-04-20, version 29.0.4* I’ve been playing road to survival since it first came out and I’ve had multiple problems with my account and at one point my entire save was deleted. However these things have been fixed in the past and so I continue to play to this day. Well that would be if I could get into the game. Right now I have a problem with actually being able to play the game. Every time I open the game it will let me in but after a few seconds In the game the game restarts and sends me right back to the same starting page that you get when you open the app up. This problem continues to happen regardless of how many times I delete the game and reinstall, close the app, restart my device, etc. I’ve tried pretty much everything Bc I’ve spent over 100 dollars and have had this account for over three years now and have a lot of progress built up in the game. I don’t know if this is a problem with the game data but I’m assuming there’s something wrong with my actual account Bc I’ve switched my account back and forth between two of my mobile devices and both of them have this restarting problem. Moreover, I enjoyed the community of others who also played. Slowly the game has become more and more demanding to the point where it is so time consuming to be competitive that it’s more like a lifestyle than a game. In addition it has become so complex and complicated that I can’t imagine what it would be like to start as a new player. To be successful, one must spend thousands of dollars and many hours every day. I have found myself playing less and less. It’s repetitive and becomes quite monotonous. And now, I simply can not bring myself to start over again with their most recent reset and the new mythic characters. It’s difficult to even open this game anymore. There are so many other games out there that are more fun, less costly, and much less tedious. Don’t waste your time with this overly complicated, time consuming, extremely expensive, and monotonous game. ### 1/5 — Worst company ever *2021-03-26* Whatever you do, DO NOT play Scopely run games. They're the worst company for customer service in all of the app world. All they care about is money and won't fix any issues you may encounter. Absolute joke of a company with the absolute worst customer service around. ### 2/5 — Ruined the game *2021-03-19* I loved this game until the most recent update. There are a lot of features that are stuffed up including the match-making features in raids, levelling up and training grounds. Training requires a lot more food and citizens which you can’t really get much of. With raids, I’m considerably a low level player who just started about a month ago. I’m level 30, but with the new mythic characters feature, my team are considerably higher ranked but obviously my resources are close to nothing to level them up, I get matched with characters that are level 100+ which is a bit unfair and in turn, I can’t really raid people anymore unless I want my rank to get lower. It’s not as fun anymore. I’m happy with the new characters that I’ve been getting as they really are OP, but, it makes the game considerably harder too especially with the match-making and the lack of resources, unless you spend real money. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Everything has its best before date *2024-08-28* Almost 10 years ago I started this game, it was amazing, I stacked up how many characters and grinded how many levels, it used to be just 5* max characters then the 6s came along and it was still good, fast forward to 2024 and the game is tragic, everyone is sweat levels has op teams and barely anybody plays it, you get little to no reward for item pulls and the whole game overall is just a shambles and the community is toxic and stuck up, whatever happened to this game and why they done it irl never know, the game lost its originality a long time ago, I won’t be playing this game anymore I don’t plan on poking a dead dog with a stick, Scopely ruined this game beyond repair the game has died and I mean DIED **Developer response:** Hello Survivor! Game is HEAVILY P2W. Costing you thousands of dollars every week just to be able to do new events. Each event added requires new meta content, which of course, is P2W. I strongly suggest turning the other way instead of picking up this game. They do everything in their power to make it as unenjoyable as possible while also making the game lack any form of content whatsoever. I just tried to get back into it and Jesus Christ has it gotten so much worse. None of the new mechanics make much sense or work well with the base game. All these new mechanics are blatantly attempts to find new shameless ways of monetizing the app. The roadmap section is now an incomprehensible nightmare with events requiring 12 different types of items that do different things and are obtained in different very grindy ways. Other apps I play do similar events that require limited time items and such but the way it is handled here is so poorly explained you are constantly forgetting what items are for in your inventory. I remember how the game use to be where it was obvious they were still trying to get you to pay for things which was fine but now if you aren’t paying you literally aren’t playing. It’s disgusting. As a life long Walking Dead Comic fan (since issue one) I’m so upset that this brand has been handled in this way. Genuinely leaves a bad taste in my mouth now when thinking of The Walking Dead. Typical pay-to-win “game”. I’ve been ripped off numerous times by these people and tech support basically called me a liar even though I had receipts and billing history that proved I bought stuff. The $25 a month subscription really isn’t worth it, AT ALL. You get an exclusive Andrea that’s been the same one for years. Nothing special about her, just only available through the rip off. You get a couple extra missions every time an event happens. No extra rewards, you just make a little more than you would from the normal missions. You get a little bit extra supplies from resource collectors, again not much more. You get a free character everyday but the characters you usually get are never worth it and are usually the same boring characters every time. This subscription isn’t even worth $5 a month. As a result of this, I was locked out of my account for over 5 weeks. During this time, multiple perks as a characters were given out just by players being able to play. When my game was fixed, I fell way behind with my account due to the inactivity and scopely was not willing to provide any fair compensation at all. When I informed them that I have been playing for years and was going to quit the game unless I was treated fairly, they didn’t seem to care at all. The customer support is absolutely terrible and they are never willing to help. Please don’t wast your time or money on this game. ### 1/5 — Do not waste your time *2021-06-07* Support are unhelpful , whales and spenders rule each region, you cannot progress as no one really helps you…. And they expect you to spend and hit milestones. They have said that they would make the game fairer for all with the new class of fighter… but that is clearly not the case. Just find something else… this is poor value for money and a real waste of time. Please. It isn’t April fools what is going on?😔 ### 5/5 — PvP *2023-03-14* I love the game and everything on itself it’s an absolute masterpiece and I’m such a huge fan of The Walking Dead. The only thing I have to say is the PVP is set to where you always face someone who’s always stronger than you no matter how low you try to look to match your level and the tokens they take from when you lose that fight. It gets very frustrating when your one kill away from winning and then some how they take out your whole team and bring back theirs in one go. I love the characters and seeing their different abilities especially in use on the battlefield but you have no fighting chance when your trying to build up your PVP reputation. Please fix it I don’t like PVP but when you have missions where your trying to get really good rewards but you can’t because the PVP is set for an automatic loss it makes you not want to play that part of the game. Cheers! ### 5/5 — BEST IOS ZOMBIE EXPERIENCE *2021-08-28, version 30.0.2* Support stinks. Always asking for screen shots or videos if the error. Like we all record our gameplay. In game support routinely answers with “please provide any screen shots or recordings” or “we have looked into your account and everything looks good.” Well, when I’m leveling up and it says to level a fast character grade 4 or above and I level a fast character level 5 50 times I should get credited with the proper amount of reknown points and rewards. I would not recommend this game to a newbie. Ever since the introduction of Mythic characters it is all about how much money Scopely can squeeze out of its players. No longer a free to play game. Definitely love the game and keep up the work!! ### 5/5 — Interesting enough to keep you playing *2020-04-28, version 23.0.5* This game is fun, it’s simple enough to just pick up and play but has optional complexity to keep you interested. The more you play you learn how all the different ‘mini-games’ relate to the overall play/leveling system. It has a little team track/map to progress through at first quickly after you start new areas open up. Things like building a town for resources, collecting survivors to train better people, battling other people in raids, competing for bonuses on a territory map, mini-challenges pop up all the time... it’s a lot but you don’t have to play all of the options to progress leveling... you choose. It doesn’t require a ton of time but you can if you want to speed up progression. You do also have the option to spend money bit don’t need to because free daily rewards are given out enough to tide you over as well as weekly bonuses and tournament rewards. I have spent money but maybe $20 on small purchases over the last 6 months, still cheaper than a PS4 game. I will say joining a semi active online team makes for the best play but you can play on your own until you reach the minimum level (15 I think) to join a faction but that happens with very minimal play within a few days. ### 5/5 — Last update killed the game *2020-04-26* I’ve been playing since 2015 and it’s amazing except now I can’t play it since the last update.
