When I use my iPad, with attached keyboard, I am always in landscape, but in order to use your app I have to twist my neck and it is unsustainable. It can’t be a difficult job to rotate the app when viewed in landscape - most other apps do it. ### 2/5 — Poor use *2020-08-21, version 0.1.1* No back button once you look at something. You type in a county and it queries it. A very poor platform. It must be in its infancy. ### 3/5 — Monthly subscription option please *2020-05-30, version 0.1.1* A monthly subscription option say in the region of £2 a month would be a nice option for casual walkers who only use the app every so often during nice weather or when taking a short vacation. The yearly sub price is too much when I may only use the app 3/4 times a year but would like to use the pro features. ### 4/5 — App is great when it works *2020-02-03, version 0.1.1* I have subscribed to Walking World and I find the subscription to be very fair and the service provided to BD good value, however, that is only if the app works. Following the directions is fairly clear and straightforward but I have been trying got 3 days to download a particular search I am interested in and failed every time. I will have to go online and print it off which is not as convenient or environmentally friendly ### 4/5 — Love it, but... *2019-10-08, version 0.1.1* Since updating my iPhone to IOS 13, the maps stutter and lag when panning or zooming. ### 2/5 — Needs Work *2019-07-16, version 0.1.1* I only tried the free version which allows you to download one map and keep it on your device for one week. You have to delete it to download another which helps wasting data on your device. Unfortunately you can’t even see a thumbnail of the route till you download it. The first I chose required availability of a ferry which is not reliable. ### 4/5 — Fantastic site *2017-10-14, version 1.0* WalkingWorld requires a subscription but is great value for money. It is great to have the addition of an app and it works very well. It is slow to download walks but once downloaded is great. I would have preferred it if walks weren't deleted after 30 days or there was some way to identify favourites so I could easily find and download when needed. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Failed App *2025-04-28, version 2.0.81* I purchase the app to try it out on 13/04/25. What a waste of £2.99. The app failed to open after multiple attempts. Don’t waste your money. ### 1/5 — Sadly not as good as it was, full of bugs *2024-08-16, version 2.0.81* We travel a lot around the UK, and walk 1000s of miles a year. This app always used to be our go to for finding walks now sadly it seems full of bugs. Desperately needs updating, such a shame as at was brilliant. Looking to join at £18 pa which I thought was expensive compared to OS only to find its £2.49 per month. One walk I did ran from car park was circular and 6 miles but finished nearl a mile from car park. Nice idea but app needs updating walks reviewed and tidied up and priced to encourage casual users. I will stick with OS maps and internet search for walks. ### 1/5 — Offline mode needs serious attention *2022-01-01, version 2.0.7* Used the app yesterday to do a walk in an area with little mobile reception. Half way through the walk went to get directions from the ‘saved’ walk but the app just presented a spinning wheel, apparently trying to authenticate via a mobile signal that wasn’t there. This is potentially dangerous. Don’t rely on the app alone, you still need a print out and a map. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work, very disappointing *2020-12-24, version 0.1.1* Disappointing - I paid an 18 pound subscription for the year which is quite steep, only for the app not to work properly. I cannot see the map, it just tells me to upgrade, yet in the settings it says my subscription is active, so this is clearly not the case. I would like my money back. It looks like there are loads of walks near me - excellent. But why on Earth are the way point images sooo small? Why is it not possible to double click an image to see it full screen? And a brief walk through tour for new user might be a really welcome idea. So far 2/5. Change the way point image display size and it may be a 5/5 ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Really useful app *2025-08-12, version 2.0.81* We use this app all the time to find walks. The headline info makes it easy to choose, especially if we are walking with less able friends. Instructions are clear and the waypoint photos are really useful. Easy to follow directions, clear pictures and really good that you can check where you are on the map and see quickly if you’ve gone wrong ### 5/5 — Brilliant - overall map please! *2019-09-17, version 0.1.1* Forgotten had access to this and it is excellent except as I am searching for walks in an area I don’t know, it is really useful to see where they are in the area (as you can on the PC version). For example I was looking for walks West of Inverness, but searching for Inverness brought up lots of walks but I couldn’t tell easily (without exploring deeper) where they were in relation to Inverness (North, South or West). Description of the walks themselves seem shorter than on the PC (and then printed) version, but will see how I fare when I use them! ### 4/5 — Really good app *2022-07-11, version 2.0.7* I have used this app for several years and many walks. The directions are usually clear and helpful and a bit like those you find on the OS walks guides. A couple of things - I always print the route out as the app won’t work if you are in the areas with no mobile coverage (or that is my experience anyway). When it does work, which is most of the time tbf, the map feature with the GPS position on it is very useful. It would be even better if the direction you are headed was shown - as in Google maps - by an arrow or “fan”. ### 4/5 — Lynda *2020-09-23, version 0.1.1* I really like this App. It’s really good for the ‘geographically challenged’ and provides a lot of confidence that I won’t be lost forever. Tried the app but had to use website to find walk I wanted. Like to chose area, display on map have pick from there. Couldn’t see how to do this on app, or to check out route without downloading whole thing. The back arrow to go back to list is very tiny, difficult to tap on accurately with big fingers.
