### 2/5 — Needs a lot more improvement

*2022-09-11, version 3.5.10*

So the app does what it says.
However, it constantly has an issue with the connection to your bank (I had synced to Emirates NBD in UAE) you need to keep reconnecting every once in a while.
Been using it for about 4 months and given the constant need to reconnect, your tracking is not up to date as expected. Furthermore, when it syncs your accounts it always has a 3 day lag. Ie: what you spent today will appear on the tracker 3 days later.
Can’t say I would recommend this app

### 3/5 — Good, but…

*2022-08-06, version 3.5.10*

For several months now, I've been experiencing synchronization failure notifications, in addition to being unable to see a credit card I have with one bank while seeing all other types of accounts with the same bank.

I tried contacting the support team several times, and each time the support team acknowledges receipt but takes no action.

### 3/5 — App review

*2022-04-08, version 3.5.9*

Wally is practically standard to use as a budgeting app. The app itself and the appearance is very outlooking. Additionally, the app does a great job in organising things and is easy to know where things are located in the app. Also, there are several ways to look at the transactions (pie chart, graph chart, etc). It is easy to add transactions that are very specific (time, dates category, specific place - if the person turned on the tracking location). Lastly, there are many features like including notes and pictures of the receipt.

However, there are some negative points of the app. First of all, the app is a bit hard to use on iPads (some of the buttons are covered but the keyboard). Second of all, the all frequently glitches and crashes when the screen moves onto the next thing, or when you try to add a transaction. Third of all, the app is usually slow when you press the buttons. But overall, I think it was quite easy to use the app.

At last, some suggestions for the app/app company can be to first fix the glitching and the frequent crashes. Also, they can relocate some of the things so that the app is easy to use on not only phones, but different types of devices like ipads. Without these points, the app was great to use.

### 3/5 — Bugs

*2022-01-09, version 3.5.6*

This app needs to focus a little more on simplicity. I find myself using this app but only because I don’t really have an option, the other apps out there aren’t as straightforward. I don’t enjoy using Wally, it need a lot of work. The most frustrating thing with this app is the fact that EVERY TIME you push a new update to the app, I lose all the categories I had hidden. I’ve raised this as an issue in your app multiple times over the past year and no one got back to me or fixed it.

### 3/5 — Easy to use but missing key old features

*2021-11-30, version 3.5.2*

I’ve been a fan of this app since I first downloaded it and have been using it weekly, if not daily. Unfortunately, I just updated it to its latest version and one of the features I liked the most has disappeared, the one that automatically calculates your net earnings every month. It was under the category of “Spending” but I can’t find it anymore. There’s not even a place anymore where I can look at all the earnings I’ve been tracking, which is sort of pointless considering this is an app to track how much you spend and earn. Is there a way those features can be brought back? Thank you!

### 2/5 — Works, but no Notes

*2021-11-02, version 3.1.8*

I have appreciated this App, it really helps with tracking my $, and with budgeting, but lately it doesn’t save my notes. I like to include notes in my entries, as reminders for some things. About 2-3 weeks ago I noticed my notes were not saving. I went back and added some then double checked to make sure they were there. They were, on that day, but 2 days later they were gone. This is NOT helpful! For some things, like orders to the same online vendor, I want to add exactly what the order was for — now I cannot!

### 2/5 — Completely Inaccurate

*2021-04-24, version 3.1.5*

The only thing i like about this app is UI. The basic functionality of analyzing transactions is completely off. First off, transactions made on current day are marked as prior day’s transactions. Secondly, transactions do not balance out - for example - if i have transferred $20 from one account to the other... (both accounts linked to the same bank in the app) recent spending shows $20 instead of $0.
- transfer out: - $20
- transfer in: +20
- recent spending should be $0 not - $20

### 3/5 — great concept, bad UX

*2021-03-25, version 3.1.4*

this app has all the right ideas for budgeting needs but it’s pretty hard to navigate the app. it’s also hard to customize the budgeting categories because everything is automatically fed into a category even though it’s in the wrong one. differentiating personal accounts from joint account is also all very jumbled up. the tagging system is hard to automate and customize. there really should be a free week trial before paying for a subscription

### 3/5 — What do I do now???

*2020-08-28, version 3.1.1*

I have been a very happy customer. This free and paid version app worked beautifully on my iPhone 7 Plus. I just upgraded to an iPhone 11, now I cannot access either version, and one contains receipts for the past year.

Query to the developer: What can I do to save and access my data and to access this newest 3.1 version? Right now when I tap it on, it just turns right off immediately. The other version says it needs updating, but no update is available, so when touching on the icon I cannot access the app or my data, it keeps trying to update and fails to do so. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!

### 4/5 — Great app, a little confusing

*2020-08-05, version 3.0.23*

I don’t want to link my bank account to an app, but I still want to keep track of my account any my cash manually. This is the only good app I found that would let me do that. Lots of features, great app in general, but my only complaint would be that it wasn’t very intuitive and it often takes me a minute or two to find a function or feature I’m looking for, and even when I’ve used something before I often forget where to find stuff. So a little complicated, but if you don’t mind that, I highly recommend it, and it fits my needs perfectly. Thanks to the developers.

### 4/5 — Cant leave feedback

*2020-08-01, version 3.0.23*

Just tried the free trial this week. I was looking for something better than Mint as since they got acquired 10 years ago the app has never improved and full of bug.

This one look promising but I cant give feedbavk via the app. Each time I click on the button the app crash... Also, it takes some times before the app refresh my bank account balance or detect a new payment. It also notify me saying a new transaction appeared but when I click on the app there is none.

It could be a very good app if those bug are fixed...which shouls not take too much trouble for the developers?!

### 2/5 — Unusable

*2020-08-01, version 3.0.23*

First, the app only allows users to be signed into one device at a time. Meaning if I want to use my Wally account on another device, I have to sign back in when I come back to my primary device. Except when I try to sign in, the app crashes the first time. Every sign in attempt.

That’s not to mention the complexity and clutter of the user interface. I tried using this app because it’s one of the few apps that supports automatic transactions from linked accounts AND manual transaction entry. It would be far from my top choice because of the interface if it weren’t for those necessary features, but the single device use and app crashes mean I can’t even use it despite pushing past everything else.

For such a popular category, the average budget app experience leaves much to be desired.

### 4/5 — Great Idea, Minor Issues

*2020-06-30, version 3.0.23*

I love this app, it has helped me budget and bring my debts down. It crashes if I try to send feedback via the button or screenshot for auto feedback, but what I had wanted to report was that my synced bank accounts sum totals are inaccurate and there is no way of editing. Pending charges that are later reversed do not go away and cannot be deleted. If we could just continue to have them synced but gain the ability to also in app edit, (and fix the feedback abilities) it would be 5 stars. I also tried to let them know a couple months ago via website contact but did not get a response.

### 3/5 — Preferred Wally Lite

*2020-06-26, version 3.0.23*

So I’ve just updated the application since I got a new phone, and to be frank I preferred the older version. It took much less time to input my purchases, and I could write my own notes on what I bought and they would be displayed next to the purchase as well. I’m not sure how to set a budget either. While this version has more bells and whistles I personally was a big fan of the simpler version. It would be nice to have the option modify my experience so I can use it quickly to monitor my expenses and move on to other things. I.e bring back Wally lite 🙏

### 3/5 — Full of bugs

*2020-06-16, version 3.0.23*

I want to give this app a better rating. I was very happy to see how easy it is to use and the way it is laid out. I purchased it because I had read good reviews on different websites, and after having used other expense-tracking/budgeting apps, I liked the way this one worked most. However, a little before the free week was up, I tried to contact Wally via email (by the way, the app crashes every time I click the feedback button, I had to find their email on the website) because of certain features I would like to see: adding new payment categories(looks like you can only create subcategories), creating rules to categorize future transactions, emailing receipts for automatic attachment to relevant transactions. I also addressed some issues I’m having : missing transactions, transactions appearing a day earlier than the payment took place (today I saw a duplicate transaction which only appears once in my bank statement). It’s been three days and I haven’t heard back from them, not even to confirm receipt of my inquiry. I am starting to regret having purchased the app. It is a shame because it has great potential, but there are just too many bugs and the support team doesn’t seem to be on top of things.

### 2/5 — Crashing and login issues

*2020-02-03, version 3.0.16*

I bought Wally a while ago because I really liked it. But when they started adding new features, like saving goals/budgets, and I tried to use them, Wally crashed over and over rendering it unusable. I emailed the developers a couple of times over the months but it never really got fixed and I stopped using it for the better part of a year. Today I got an email about it being able to sync with bank accounts from a lot of new countries so I thought I’d give it a try again. I can’t even log in. There’s no error, it just thinks about it forever and nothing happens. Initially I loved Wally, but over the past year or more it’s incredibly disappointing and barely functional. I regret the purchase for sure. Maybe they’ll sort out all the many glitches someday, but until then, it’s not a good product.

### 1/5 — So bugged / unusable

*2020-01-01, version 3.0.13*

While the idea and layout is very promising, it is so bugged that it is unusable.
Wally first of all confuses the currencies in my different accounts, even though I purchased the gold and the foreign account addon as well as the currency exchange addon , yet Wally shows all transactions in the same currency which gives a completely wrong financial picture. To make things worse, it doesn’t allow me to delete some of these imported transaction to try and fix the issue manually or even select to exclude a currency sub account not to confuse Wally.
Finally, my international bank uses two factor authentication, so the connection expires after few days, but then Wally doesn’t allow me to enter credentials again , saying account already loaded!! Even deleting the app and reinstalling doesn’t fix it, I have to delete the complete account and start over every 2-3 days!!

### 1/5 — not user friendly. I miss Wally Lite

*2019-12-30, version 3.0.13*

I've used Wally Lite for a long time, and it was a fantastic and simple experience. I could make my own categories and aspects, and get a nice overview of everything. The new app is too ambitious and cluttered. All the lists, docs, reminders alongside expenses just makes navigating the app incredibly frustrating. And modifying the default categories has been such a headache. Why is there a subcategory for "sanitary & waste" and another subcategory for "sanitary waste"??? Subcategory for "carpet"?? I've spent half an hour editing all the default non-sense. Absolutely awful. And how do I unlink a bank account???

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Horrible update

*2024-01-18*

I’ve been using Wally for a few years now and have appreciated it, until now! With the update I don’t think I lost transactions, but I did loose all of my notes in the transactions. I actually used those & referred to some of them monthly. I now only have my prior merchants A-B. All of the others are gone. I have to “add” a merchant almost every time because it doesn’t remember the “new” merchants I add. I’m not sure how many Safeway merchants have been added. I don’t want to add my bank accounts, I want to track my individual expenditures monthly. I can log into my bank accounts to see my balances. I also don’t trust the AI to not track me, not keep my bank info, ect. If you check the reviews, the only good ones are from years ago. I’m having problems similar to those who have written recent reviews. I don’t find any of the “update” notes to be true. At this point the app seems to be ruined.

### 1/5 — Ongoing bugs and looks like things just got worse.

*2023-08-10*

So, I’ve been using this app for about 3 years now and it seems the more the app had updates the more bugs I faced, however I’m at a breaking point with the most recent update. Seeing a new welcome screen and an entire remodel of the app would’ve made me think the Wally team finally squashed most of the bugs I faced, and yeah, there’s a smoother session. HOWEVER, upon re logging back in, somehow all of my information never loaded as if there was a gap in the data from a time period im unaware of. On top of that, the annoyance of being logged back out every other session is a nuisance. Now the worst thing? The fact the new update is so confusing. I can’t easily select my sub category without fighting with the menus and I used to have the default payment method up, now it resets to one I rarely use each time. But the fact I had transactions reappear that I deleted months ago is also confusing. This is how I’ve chosen to budget but I can’t keep going this route if the app is going to be an inconvenience .

### 1/5 — Major flaws

*2022-11-06, version 3.5.10*

I loved this app in the beginning as it was so great to see all my accounts in one place and set my budgets. BUT, the app is tracking each pending payment and then again when it hits, meaning my budget gets hit twice! It’s really flawed, and totally defeats the purpose of using this app. It also tracks every little 1 aed verification transaction. On top of that, it keeps getting locked out of my HSBC account and doesn’t pick up my HSBC credit cards - only my bank accounts. I have sent in feedback over the last couple of months, and never got a response. Disappointing as I see the potential!

### 1/5 — Not responsive - no help, no instruction, totally random

*2021-12-08, version 3.5.3*

This is the biggest piece of crap - now it refreshes from linked accounts but doesn’t recognize its source so expenditures and income are ‘not assigned’ - and there is no way to link w current accounts?!?! You have to add new!!!! What a mess this app is!!! Fix or quit taking peoples money!
I’ve written endless comments which is the only way to contact and hear nothing from them. My accounts are wrong or doubled ans you can only see in one currency even if you have access to more than one. No ability to label your accounts, nicknames - I’m really sorry I paid for this

### 1/5 — Nonexistent Customer Service

*2021-06-18, version 3.1.6*

I purchased the Premium version of Wally, looking forward to a real commitment to my budget goals. This app has been nothing but glitchy. Many of my purchases will only selectively be loaded onto Wally. Some are over a week and a half past and still have not reflected on my budget. It’s really difficult to follow a budget when your expenses are not updated accurately. I’m having to spend more time cross checking my credit card transactions and Wally to make sure everything is up to date which takes probably more time than if I just manually tracked my expenses in the first place.

What really pushed me to leave the negative review was the fact that their customer service team is virtually nonexistent. I have sent multiple messages through the app, and have even tried to reach out to customer support through the chat option on their website multiple times. I have been met with complete radio silence. I would hope that an app that has you pay for a “premium” service would at least respond to my feedback and concerns and help troubleshoot the issues that I am experiencing.

Very disappointed, would NOT recommend. I only wish I hadn’t paid for a year long commitment.

### 1/5 — No response from dev

*2021-05-20, version 3.1.6*

My review has been deleted somehow, I’m new to apple could have been me.

I’ll keep it simple this time. It looks good, feels ok, if you could mass adjust mislabeled categories and configure the auto cataloging it would be better. There is no manual sync and the days do not even match when you spent the money. After the most recent update it no longer syncs.

Really want to like this and initially I was pleased enough to get the lifetime pass but until this gets manual syncing, fixes auto syncing, and lets you set up filters to catalog your transactions. This app is a pass.

### 1/5 — Disappointing

*2021-02-24, version 3.1.4*

Well, despite every other complains registered here, I made the mistake of buying this app after trying for some hours the free version and realizing “it wasn’t so buggy and glitchy as the others said”.

I missed some of the “premium” features and decide to spend some money to get them. Worst mistake.

As soon as you get premium access, I don’t know if this is due to their authentication system or anything else, but the app start to behave glitchy and buggy. I can’t really set a group to share budgets with my GF, the sync system is awful, so many glitches, delays makes the system just not usable. I’m glad I didn’t sync any of my bank / credit card accounts.

As many others registered I also tried to contact the developer to feedback them about my complains (atleast 3 different times) and never heard anything back from them.

They’re making some money, but despite the good idea behind the app, the amount of bugs and the lack of support make me doubt about the app future.

### 1/5 — New version fails to download transactions

*2020-12-27, version 3.1.3*

Looks like they’ve made this basic free version really bad to pressure users into the paid model. Problem is the user experience is so bad as a result I’m tempted to delete the app completely. All the things I found useful from the old app gone. This is a Fail.

Paid model would make more sense if the functionality was truly something I could test and then additional payment would be if I wanted to add more than 2 or 3 accounts and have increased insight and ability to add specific categories. Etc

### 1/5 — Frustrating Experience

*2020-08-31, version 3.1.1*

I regret paying for a year subscription. On the surface this looked like exactly what I was looking for, but in reality it is poorly executed. There are a lot of minor annoyances that add up to a frustrating experience. For example:
1. All my transactions get tagged a “family”, which is not a tag I want to use. There is no way to change this default behavior.
2. Some functionality is not very intuitive to find. You can’t delete a transaction unless you are in the calendar view.
3. You cannot change the date of a transaction if it was imported. Maybe this isn’t a big issue for most, but my bank only records transactions on business days.
4. Expenses that are recorded in a currency different than the currency of your budget do not show up when comparing budget card actual spend.

And now today my budget disappeared entirely and can’t figure out any way to get it back. I have submitted all of these as feedback in the app and even tried to request for support, but I have yet to get any response. I expect at least some basic, timely support from a product with a subscription fee.

### 1/5 — Issues

*2020-05-08, version 3.0.21*

It said if I linked an account I’d get 1 year free of Wally Gold. Well I linked both of my accounts but I still only have the basic free version unless I pay for the upgrade. When I try to provide feedback, the app kicks me out every time. But the Review button works just fine. There’s a serious lag in everything, even just navigating between tabs or trying to save/update info. I planned on buying the Gold for life or whatever it’s called if this app was just a bit more decent that what I’m currently using (Mint) which is horrible at syncing accounts, but it’s not worth it.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — It deserves a million stars!

*2020-08-15, version 3.1.1*

I’ve never found any useful app such as this one, and I never leave reviews about apps but the effort put into making this app is unbelievable. The details, are freaking incredible. We don’t have bank accounts here where we live due to the war so I’m just using manual cash accounts, and it has made my life so much easier. Thanks a lot and I’m-already enjoying the paid yearly subscription, I hope there are more improvement and features upcoming such as dark mode. ❤️

### 5/5 — Great Daily Expense Tracker

*2019-04-08, version 1.10*

I only downloaded the app a few days ago and I love it. At first, I struggled to figure out how to add my own categories/name of places. Once I got the hang of it, it’s been a breeze to tracker my spending without having to ask for receipts then remind myself to update my “budget” when I get home. Thanks to the developers and team behind this app. I enjoy it!

### 5/5 — It’s Amazing!

*2019-03-17, version 1.9*

This app is amazing. It has all the features needed to track your spending, budget & lets you add different accounts so you can see everything in one place.

If you have accounts of different currencies it’s great for that too. I’ve tried a lot of budgeting apps but this def ranks highest.

The only issue I’ve had with it is that I haven’t been able to link my bank account to it so I have to enter those transactions manually but that’s fine, all the other features def make up for it.

### 5/5 — Good app

*2018-09-29, version 1.2.3*

I just started using this app today and I loved it already! This app gives you options to sort out the accounts without linking them, which is pretty for me because I like to enter my transactions manually. The transaction entry was a bit confusing because I didn’t know how to make the a negative amount as if it’s an expense. And I don’t really wish they can have a group feature for the spending accounts too. For example for credit card 1 and credit card 2, I wish they have a section called credit card so once I click on the section it will have all my credit cards laid out on I can check how much I spent on each card. It just makes more sense to me to have that sort of organized category, and it will definitely make my reconciliations easier. I’ve also tested the older version, but I’ll give this one a 5-star because of its functionality. I do agree it’s not as simple as the old one. You may need to sit down and test out the features at the beginning, but once you understand how it works, it comes pretty handy.

### 5/5 — Different than before - but that’s what I like about it

*2017-11-06, version 1.2.0*

This version is exactly what I needed.

It looks modern and it’s easy to use (although I admit it may seem complicated at first...but only at first).

I can now quickly and easily track my expenses and transfers as they happen which for me is much better than accumulating all the receipts then putting them all in at one sitting.

Love that the location pops up and that you can add hashtags, which makes filtering transactions or tagging a specific one for easy reference later on simple.

I too was skeptical about the update initially but I gave it a shot and I love it.

I suspect some of the older users may have a hard time with change in general but the new users who discover this app would love it.

With this new update and the “insights” feature it actually now differentiates itself from all the other vanilla financial tracking apps.

Great job. 🙂👍

### 5/5 — Migrated to Next

*2017-11-03, version 1.2.0*

I was using their legacy app for over a year and got the invite to next. I had to wait till last week to finally get migrated. Honestly it was so worth it. In next you can spending over time so that was awesome. And all your old your expenses have cool highlights so it's fun to go through them. Definitely worth the wait! Especially after this update. So much easier!

### 5/5 — Love the improved look and functionality

*2017-11-01, version 1.2.0*

My husband and I use Wally to track our daily expenses and remain in budget. I love the new insights as they help me see my spending trends, and the updated interface is clean and very easy to use. There are many options to provide a lot of details on each transaction, if needed. I like the new stream look which shows each expense on that day.

One thing we miss from the old app is that it showed us at a glance how much money we had left in our budget at a glance at the top of app. You can see this in the new app, but you have to scroll to the bottom and it shows the total amount instead of the prorated weekly or daily amount.

### 5/5 — Almost Perfect

*2017-11-01, version 1.2.0*

I’ve really enjoyed the way Wally has integrated itself into my life. Recording, categorizing, and seeing trends from transactions is quick and intuitive. It’s a very powerful app with tons of features and huge potential.

Currently, the categories section is bloated. I enjoyed adding and removing categories that suit my needs.

I’m looking forward to seeing how much more Wally Next finds itself doing more than it ever did before.

### 5/5 — Love It!

*2017-11-01, version 1.2.0*

This app is easy to use and isn’t overly complicated like a lot of other budgeting apps. It gives me exactly what I need—a clear picture of my spending habits. They have been updating and redesigning quite a bit and it’s clear that they are taking customer concerns and recommendations very seriously. I love a company that listens closely to its users, and it’s clear that Wally does just that.

### 4/5 — Small app that used to be useful

*2023-11-09*

I use this app to track my kids’ expenses and credits. For awhile it was a blast, and it was a huge improvement over a spreadsheet I was using. But over time the app has been changed so much and then went from small handy app to something else. The features that I use became less accessible, as the developer shifts visual elements around, and now the balance, the thing I need the most, is way lower on the list than ChatGPT (that I can not care less about), so as the product I like it as it was two years ago, not as it is now. It is still free and somewhat useful, but this morning I entered two transactions and they did not registered, which moved it to a category of app I will not use
