I just went for a walk to check it out (Melbourne, Australia) and it came up with plenty of places. However, while it is accurate with the direction, it is not accurate with distance. About one in five items is just wrong, eg I was standing outside two cafés and while it knew which direction they were, it said they were 550 and 650m away, plus one place in a suburb at least 15km away was listed as 1.2km away. Other times a place it showed a few hundred metres away disappeared when checked a few hundred meters down the road (in the direction it indicated).
