### 4/5 — Solid concept that *most* can benefit from

*2020-10-17, version 2.13.1*

This app looks amazing for those who are dealing with medical conditions. However, the mental health community is extremely small. I would love to talk with the devs and help flesh this side of the app out cause it’s majorly lacking.

### 5/5 — We Are Not Alone!

*2020-08-07, version 2.11.4*

WANA has become a great outlet for me, specifically for sharing thoughts/treatments/support for mental health concerns. I think it’s great that the app encourages people to discuss difficult or otherwise taboo health-related topics in a supported environment. It’s also a great conversation-starter among my family and friends, and encourages us to normalize and speak candidly about our mental and physical health concerns.

The app itself is user friendly, and the content is tailored to my health and wellness interests. In addition, the other users are very kind, thoughtful, and supportive. I’d recommend WANA to anyone!

### 5/5 — Amazing app!!!

*2020-07-28, version 2.10.1*

Such a helpful and powerful app especially during corona!! What a great way to connect with others, share experiences and get & give support.

### 5/5 — Fantastic App

*2020-07-28, version 2.10.1*

Great idea for an app. It is incredibly helpful and easy to use. In fact, there should be more apps like these that help combat mental illness, especially as it is done through community building and fostering connection. Much more practical and immediate than say going out and joining an in-person support group.

### 5/5 — The Support We All Need

*2020-07-27, version 2.10.1*

I’ve always been a firm believer in having a community and support system around you at all times. Wana provides that during a time when human interaction has been limited to a virtual world. Finding people across time and space who have gone through what you’ve went through, or currently going through, gives validity to you and the voice you find to speak up and express yourself. I highly recommend this app for those of us who feel that they are experiencing life on their own - you are not alone and Wana helps remind you of that!

### 5/5 — Great App & Awesome Interface

*2020-07-27, version 2.10.1*

Highly recommend Wana! The graphics are super appealing, the interface is great and easy to use, and Wana has really helped me through these tough times. I suggest that everyone check it out!

### 4/5 — Trigger Warnings

*2020-07-23, version 2.0.9*

The app is really helpful for asking questions and finding info, but I’m wondering if there’s a way to add trigger warnings to the top of posts? And maybe separate the posts into categories so you can find what you’re looking for faster and easier

### 5/5 — Truly Eye-Opening

*2020-07-23, version 2.0.9*

This app has been so, so eye opening and helpful to me as I continue to heal from Lyme disease. Not only has the app showed me I am not alone, it has offered solutions and provided potential therapy paths I had never heard of! Wana provides a wonderful forum-based platform to share ideas and emotions for individuals in similar situations. Glad to be a Wana user and I recommend it to anyone who is dealing, has dealt with, or has a family member dealing with any isolating diagnosis or chronic illness. There are so many potential solutions and Wana has a library with therapy options for those that feel they’ve exhausted options through traditional, Western medicine. Wana is by far the best app I’ve discovered in 2020!

### 5/5 — Amazing app!

*2020-07-13, version 2.0.6*

I love the Wana community! Everyone is kind, helpful and supportive. Wish there where more zebras, the rarer of my issues I can’t usually find anyone on there with. But overall there is an amazing diverse community.

### 5/5 — Wonderful supportive community

*2020-07-13, version 2.0.6*

This app has a very wonderful supportive community who understands exactly how you feel and some of the people message you if they haven’t heard from you in a while to make sure you’re OK

### 5/5 — Incredible community

*2020-07-13, version 2.0.6*

Wana has made me feel safe and secure in sharing and meeting other people going through similar experiences. I’ve met friends who genuinely care about my wellbeing and we check up on each other frequently. It’s nice to have support and a place that really makes you feel like YOU ARE NOT ALONE! Thanks Wana fam!

### 5/5 — A tremendous support community

*2020-07-12, version 2.0.6*

I have been dealing with a chronic illness. It is a very supportive community where people help one another and give advice. I highly recommend it if you are looking for support.

### 5/5 — This App Will Change Your Life For The Better

*2020-07-10, version 2.0.6*

I downloaded this app because I have a chronic illness and I didn't have anyone who understood me. Not only did I gain some good friends. But the founders of wana and people who designed the app also reach out to you and the entire community. I also love how this app isn't judgemental and no matter what color or what you believe in them except everyone. Wana isn't just a community. It's a family and no matter what you're going through you can speak your mind and thoughts in a safe place. Come hang out and join me and lots of others. I can't wait to meet you and hear your thoughts if you decide to join us.

### 5/5 — Fills the demand

*2020-07-10, version 2.0.6*

I searched the Internet forums for the past decade looking for support groups that encompassed a lot of my symptoms. A friend of mine turned me to WANA and I’ve been hooked ever since. I like the layout, it’s very interactive and connects you with ppl on similar journeys. Whether it’s advice or emotional support, WANA fills the void. I think there is a huge demand for something like this, given that there currently is a large uptick in chronic health conditions (especially invisible ones). We feel unheard and marginalized, and to be able to voice our feelings and opinions to a group of people that are going through it themselves is a huge relief.

Thanks to the founders and everyone working on this app 🙏

### 5/5 — Amazing community support

*2020-05-14, version 2.0.2*

To say this app has helped me immensely find answers, or at least lead me to who could help me find answers, is an understatement. Wana helped me meet my best chronic illness spoonie buddy, and every day I use the app I find something new that would improve my or someone else’s life. It is both helpful for guidance and emotional support. Thank you wana team :)

### 3/5 — ???

*2020-05-01, version 1.1.9*

To get to the point, this app is a mixed bag. On one hand, it can be extremely useful for people with chronic illnesses that limit social interaction. However, it can be a little sus in some areas. Most accounts are of people just wanting access to a support group, but I came across a few where someone had a laundry list of diagnoses, and even more symptoms (almost all of the selectable symptoms). These people may actually be suffering from a host of illnesses, and if so, I genuinely feel for them, but the problem is there's no way to know for sure. Is the person claiming that essential oils cured their tachycardia legit, or are they someone with no medical training who is self-diagnosing themselves with every condition under the sun? Who knows! It also seems irresponsible of the app creators to provide a platform for "cures" that have been repeatedly disproven, and in several cases can cause actual harm. Please, fact check these treatments with your doctor. TL:DR, this app is good in theory, but not 100% in execution. I hope that they improve the app because I really do want this to exist.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Can’t create a account

*2022-03-05, version 2.14.2*

I tried creating an account, and it keeps coming up with an error message. So I emailed them hoping to solve the problem, but it’s been 3 days and no one has emailed back. Hoping this review gets their attention so I can join. If not, I guess I’ll just delete the app.

### 1/5 — Shrug

*2021-09-22, version 2.14.2*

I wanted to like this but I guess I’m looking for something different to connect to other chronically ill folks. Something more casual. This app leeches spoons from my day every time I open it.

-App looks for posts about symptoms or conditions that you also have. Makes sense in theory but in practice I had my timeline swamped with trauma-dumping from strangers. I wasn’t even following anyone? That’s not the kind of socializing I’m looking for.

-Because disability and chronic illnesses are so personal and vulnerable, I was surprised that the app wants me to use my real, legal name and an actual photo of my face. There wasn’t an option to make a screenname until after the account was already set-up, and you can only change it once for it’s entire existence. That just makes me feel unsafe. Lemme have fun picking a silly screen name. I could then choose to offer my name to friends I’ve talked to.

-similarly, I can’t find any info on deleting my account. I don’t want to just leave it unattended and hooked to my active email still. I want to tidy my digital space and delete accounts abd logins I don’t use. Can’t find a way to do that here.

### 1/5 — Privacy policy is just bad

*2020-01-20, version 1.0.8*

I want to use and love this app but an app that asks for health information should NEVER have a privacy policy this open to giving and selling information to third parties. I will redownload it if they reconsider and fix these policies because right now I don’t advise anyone give them personal or health information. So disappointing for such a great concept.

### 1/5 — Dangerous

*2020-01-04, version 1.0.8*

This app is just plain dangerous. It’s a great idea, but you have some of the founders recommending people don’t go see real doctors, and instead they recommend online tests, websites like medical medium (no medical background and no science behind any recommendations). They have no western medicine options as treatments, with the exception of anti-depressants, and the majority of things on there are bogus. This app is dangerous and horribly thought out.

### 1/5 — Basic app with few “communities”

*2019-10-05, version 1.0.3*

This app has a nice design/colors but that’s where it ends. It has so few diseases and symptoms that you will struggle to find something that fits. They then connect you to a community of random people where you can read about their health problems. The main issue is they have nothing in common with you. I would not recommend this app.

### 2/5 — Wanted to love, disappointed

*2020-01-12, version 1.0.8*

While filling out the initial pages, I noticed my rare chronic illness was not listed.

As someone with Addison’s Disease who’s almost died while in the ER because the ER staff didn’t understand or know how to treat adrenal crises, this made me sad. Being dependent on steroids to live raises many eyebrows even by doctors. This made me feel even more alone.

“Adrenal fatigue” which is not an actual diagnosable condition was listed, but not Addison’s Disease. I was excited when I saw an ad for this app, but ultimately disappointed. Hopefully more conditions can be added, or a write in option can be added for us zebras

### 2/5 — Good idea, Poorly Executed

*2019-11-25, version 1.0.6*

Great idea in theory, but the finite list of conditions and treatments is incredibly frustrating, and there should be a “write-in” option. The search feature is also very counterintuitive, as instead of letting you search for keywords or phrases, the system only allows you to search for items from the pull down menus. It would really be helpful to search for keywords found in other posts, as well as medications or specialists.

The other frustrating part of this app is that the list of “treatments” are almost entirely homeopathic, which is great, except there are almost no chemo/ prescription treatments listed, which is what most people with chronic conditions are dealing with. It would be nice to hear other people’s experiences with certain medicines, but the limited search feature does not allow this.

### 2/5 — Not good for mental health

*2019-10-08, version 1.0.3*

I downloaded Wana thinking that I’d be able to connect with others who are struggling through the same mental health stuff I am, but it turns out this is mainly focused on physical health even though it has social anxiety and anxiety under “symptoms” when it should actually be under diagnosises as well, They should clarify what audience they are appealing to, especially when in their advertisements, they only show the “symptoms” list, without telling you it’s a symptoms list in the app. Really bummed, but could see where it’d help people with chronic illness.

### 3/5 — Wonky/biased but a few new ideas

*2021-08-10, version 2.14.2*

It’s wonky in that it crashes constantly and I couldn’t even post anything. Now I’m locked out in spite of typing in my correct email and password. Anything I click on to remedy this says “error”.

It’s biased in that it only gives certain options to tell others about who you are. There are about five new age things to choose from and not one Christian, for instance.

Some of the posts reflects the mass ignorance of the public which is annoying, but I did gather some information regarding my condition before it locked me out. Not worth the stress otherwise.

### 3/5 — Great concept!! Still lots of bugs to be worked out

*2020-08-10, version 2.11.4*

It’s a really hard app to use, I’m not gonna lie. It’s difficult to navigate and glitchy at times. Could also be more aesthetically appealing but I can’t give it no stars because the concept is a win and it’s still a great place to meet other disabled and chronic pain suffering individuals

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — The Most Incredible Community App

*2020-11-18, version 2.14.2*

I had been looking for an app like this for many years. I have had symptoms of fatigue, dizziness and fainting since 2017. I went to numerous doctors but they could not find anything wrong with me. I felt hopeless and lost.
Wana was referred to me by a friend and I am so grateful for her everyday. It has really changed my life. This platform has given me the sense of community and hope that I was missing.
I realized that there are so many people out there dealing with the same issues and are looking for people to talk to about it. This app also offers numerous resources for education on health topics so that you can really get in touch with what is going on in your body.
Thank you Wana team for recognizing this missing link of connection and developing an incredible platform and community.

### 5/5 — Awesome!!

*2020-09-28, version 2.13.1*

Edit: Thank you SO MUCH for finally adding a Notification Center! 😊

This app has already been a lifesaver and game changer for me! 🥺💗 I am a late 20s female with CFS/ME, fibromyalgia, endometriosis, severe depression & anxiety, Sjögren’s syndrome, hEDS, and dysautonomia. It’s been a really tough past 10 years and doesn’t seem to get any easier (although, you would think it would). I have been wanting an app like this for a long time and was so excited to download The Mighty, but some conditions and symptoms aren’t discussed as much there. While I still enjoy The Mighty, the community at Wana seems much more interactive and helpful. The one thing I would greatly enjoy is being able to search for people by location and to see other spoonies nearby (even merely showing people that have made their general location public would be nice). There might be a way to do this, but I have not figured it out. Other than that, five stars for this app. It rocks, and I know it will just keep on improving. Thank you so much for creating this gem for us “spoonies”! 🥄🥰

### 5/5 — So helpful and reassuring

*2020-09-08, version 2.12.1*

The WANA app has helped me reassure myself about my chronic illness when nobody else could. I think it’s really helpful and important that we have a community like this in order to help raise awareness for people who may be suffering with chronic illnesses or who may not have other individual to talk to. Love the WANA community!

### 5/5 — Filling the void for connection

*2020-09-08, version 2.12.1*

In today’s world we are all lacking connections, that is the one thing that I miss the most. However Wana creates a safe place to connect and receive that support, because these are people who are going through the same things as you. I love the app and positive atmosphere it brings

### 5/5 — Great community for all!

*2020-09-08, version 2.12.1*

I downloaded Wana after reading about it on Bustle and I don’t regret it one bit! I was diagnosed with a gluten allergy in July and felt like I had nowhere to talk about my constant stomach issues throughout the long process of my diagnosis. I am so glad I have finally joined the Wana community and now have a place to connect with people experiences similar health issues as me.

### 5/5 — Such a Supportive Network!

*2020-09-04, version 2.12.1*

I downloaded Wana recently and I can already see the positive impact it has had on my life.

I love communicating with the other users on Wana, who are inclusive, kind, open, and very willing to be helpful to all in any way they can. It is a space where I feel very safe to ask questions about my personal health, and can trust I will receive genuine advice/resources.

My interest in alternative treatment methods has grown recently, and I can say with confidence that Wana is a great place to learn about the world of options available for any medical condition. Especially through recommendations of the member community, but also the in-app WanaLibrary.

Wana is a platform for everyone, not just people who experience severe medical issues. We can all benefit from a heightened awareness of ways to improve our overall health.

I encourage everybody to download this app- especially during Covid-19 times, when personal health has become a main concern! 100%.

### 5/5 — Real community

*2020-09-04, version 2.12.1*

I don’t personally struggle from chronic health issues, but this app is helping me learn so much about how to support others who do. The community on this app is so real and so supportive. In a world where people are constantly putting up a front, it’s refreshing to see people be so genuine.

### 5/5 — Thankful for Wana

*2020-09-04, version 2.12.1*

Wow. I can truly say this app has changed the way I express my thoughts about my health. The community encourages you to talk about the good the bad and the ugly when it comes to health. Both mental and psychical. I am thankful there is a space like Wana for me to connect with others, to heal, to learn and to grow!!

### 5/5 — Love this community!

*2020-09-04, version 2.12.1*

If you are looking for a positive and uplifting community, Wana is the app for you! It’s awesome to be able to open up and ask questions about any health concerns I am having and feel like I am getting really thoughtful answers. I highly recommend you download Wana!

### 5/5 — Love it!

*2020-09-04, version 2.12.1*

Met some amazing people in such a great community. Please download this!!! It’s such a fantastic way to get in touch with others who are going through a similar situation as you.
